I was in Boston for a wedding and sought out a North End dining experience. Lucca was recommended by hotel concierge and was easy to get a same day reservation. The service and food was simply outstanding. Had the parpadelle pasta, beet salad and Brussels sprouts which were all amazing. Also the waiter pointed us to a wonderful super Tuscan red wine that was reasonably priced. Would definitely go back!!!

Delicious! Especially the gnocchi appetizer. Wine was great. They have a kids menu which was great. We had a little mishap where we ordered an adult version of the cheese ravioli for a teenager and they gave us the kids version (same portion) in a larger plate. It was a little sneaky but quickly resolved once we told our waiter. One suggestion would be to have more variety in the fresh bread. Focaccia was good but a little more variety would be best at such an upscale restaurant. Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend Luca.

Food was good, although not the best in the No End. Pork was moist and tender and beans were creamy. Server was very good, although host was rude when my companion was looking for a restroom (only 1?). Our server directed her to a private room and the host rudely sent her away.

The food was fantastic!! We are of Italian descent, so we are fairly critical of Italian restaurants. The dress was smart casual, atmosphere was lively. They have an extensive wine menu. They also offered a kids menu, which worked perfectly for my 8 & 10 year old girls. Highly recommend for families looking for an upscale meal with their picky kids.

Wonderful place. Ambiance was excellent. Food was very good. I would say more upscale fine dining with less typical Italian dishes.

Lucca has a tendency to overcook fish. I thought it was just me but my friend had a very cooked piece of fish that she could barely finish. We were also 15 min early on our reservation so they wouldn't seat us. We ended up sitting at a high top next to four very drunk and rude people. The waitress was very nice but I don't think I'll be going back there again. It's incredibly expensive and if the foods not that good and you can't be seated and have to deal with obnoxious people at 8PM... what's the point in paying such a high price?

My first visit to Lucca and absolutely loved it - the food and atmosphere were wonderful - we all especially loved the gnocchi with short rib appetizer! We had a chance to meet the owner Sean before our dinner and he was very welcoming - service was very good even though there was a large party in at the same time. We will definitely be back!

I have tried many restaurants in the North End. Lucca is upscale and clearly one of the better restaurants. The wine list has some good choices in $50-$60 range. The food is very good. I will come back.

The ambiance was great, appetizer of pork and sweet potato gnocchi amazing. Wine was good. The wild boar pasta was great, but the shrimp pasta was basic. Really worst part is that the water rushed us through the entire dinner.

It starts out with fabulous focaccia and a basil spread. Try not to fill up on it. It's so flavorful it's hard not to. We skipped appetizers and ordered dinner only. The house-made rigatoni was delicious and the wild boar and roasted vegetable sauce was delicious. The lambchops were flavorful and well-prepared. The accompanying vegetables were excellent - haricots verts, ceci, tomatoes. The table next to us was unhappy that their appetizer arrived with their meals. The waitstaff dealt with it professionally and well. We love Lucca and look forward to a return visit.

Fantastic meals abound at Lucca. Colleagues had the scallops and I had the Lobster Pasta. All were cooked perfectly and had great seasoning and sauces.

Appetizers of prosciutto and figs and the roasted beets were excellent.

We shall return.

Had a great time at Lucca! First time eating in the North End of Boston. We are from a large Italian upstate New York community so we had high expectations and Lucca met them! Looking forward to visiting Lucca again in the future. Five stars and thumbs way up!

I did not care for the taste of the food as the dish I had was overwhelmed with fennel and salt. My dinner companions equally expressed that their food was mediocre at best. It took a while to be seated even with a reservation. Once seated it was almost 40mins for our appetizers to arrive. Our waitress was new; however she was pleasant and trying her best. There was a hair in one of our appetizer dishes. I was extremely polite about it as I understand that happens from time to time. Unfortunately, the waitress did not know better to ask if we wanted a replacement and she did not take the item off the bill. There are better dining options in Boston.

... not all it's hyped up to be. The side of garlic/mozzarella bread arrived cold, when asked for it be warmed, they toasted the top--cheese still stiff upon return. Ordered a second round of drinks, one was undrinkable-- the main ingredient was left out. One of the pasta dishes arrived with very very little meat sauce AND with a hard stuck together clump of the paradelle pasta. Before sending it back, I did ask if that was how it was typically served (since the other half the bowl of paradelle was separated like normal noodles). Both the server and manager said yes, but offered to get a me new serving. Surprise, it came out normal --go figure.

I'm sure you can guess, we skipped dessert. Definitely a disappointing experience.

Every bite was a burst of flavour. Loved all of our dishes (2 people/2apps/2entrees - shared everything) with the highlights being hearts of romain, sweet potato gnocchi with braised short ribs, baked Orecchiette with sausage (to die for) and a pasta dish with Lobster in it (forgetting the name). Everything was simply delicious and warmed our bellies. Thank you Lucca for a lovely evening.

This was my third time visiting Lucca and unfortunately the quality of the food was significantly worse than my previous experiences. I ordered the scallop risotto dish which was underwhelming and lacked flavor. The calamari was under par as well. I’ve had (and enjoy) baked calamari compared to fried calamari because usually what the dish lacks in fried breading is made up in flavor but this was just a chewy dish. The service and ambiance were great but this was a special occasion (sister’s first time visiting Boston) and we both left wishing we had gotten a better and less expensive meal elsewhere.

Overall, food is very good. I would recommend that they change their music...it was annoying and not in keeping with an Italian restaurant or dining. We love that they offer gluten-free options, too.

The food & wine choices at Lucca never fail to satisfy the most demanding tastes. Great Italian menu, as well as seafood and specials every day. Right on Hanover Street, in the North End of Boston. Great for people watching. Just make sure you have a reservation! Not the cheapest place, but the quality and service are worth it!
