Lucca North End
Book your next event with us
Our service from Mike was exceptional and the indoor/outdoor dining next to the open windows is truly a special experience to have on a mild night out in the north end! The scallops dish and veal special were out of this world!
Thank you! This was Sunday night before Boston Marathon, so many runners were out getting their carbs. Made reservations weeks in advance. Everything was outstanding. Food was awesome. The people here work very hard. We were seated by the bar. So, yes it was noisy. Next time I would ask for the back room. Definitely will be back.
Amazing meal and waiters
Calamari was very bland
Pre marathon donner
Classic fare in a classic setting. Great place to be on a warm evening with the open windows!
Fabulous night at Lucca. Brought our friends from the Netherlands to dinner and experience the north end. Craig was an excellent server, the food was heavenly -especially the orecchiette, the meatballs and the tiramisu. The doors and windows were wide open to the beautiful evening. Atmosphere was so pleasant. Wine suggestion by the owner was delish!
Wonderful dinner in the North End. Service was impeccable and food was near perfect.
Great place! My Fav.
Several people recommended Lucca to us, but we were disappointed. The restaurant was very crowded and they have tables in every space they can fit them. We were at an awkward two top and felt very in the way. Servers were constantly bumping into us trying to maneuver around the restaurant. It was extremely loud and difficult to hold conversation. The food was good, but it was not worth the hectic and loud atmosphere. The servers were running around frantically and needless to say our service wasn't the best, but I do not fault our server as I could tell he was overwhelmed. It took a long time to get a glass of wine and we waited quite some time for our food. I would go elsewhere next time.
I would highly recommend Lucca's Restaurant at 226 Hanover St. in the North End.
Excellent meal, excellent service make plans for it the next time in the North End.
Staff was excellent. Very friendly and treated us like royalty. Food was amazing and the ambiance was excellent. Had an amazing dining experience.
The food is always stellar, with some twists on the authentic Italian menu. The wait staff teamed up well to make sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. I especially love that they had Aglianico on the wine list - reminded me of our trip to Sorrento. Highly recommended if you're nearby.
So, our food was good - it wasn’t fantastic outstanding great ... but it was good.
The service started out good - attentive - took the drink orders and brought the drinks timely.
After that, we waited for 25 minutes ... no bread, no waiter, no service.
I asked for bread....
The waiter comes back to take the orders and the bread comes with the order.
My cappuccino never made it to the table or on the bill ( which in this case is probably a good thing...)
With all the places in Boston, I won’t be back to Lucca.
Very disappointing! Felt like we were a bit of a nuisance and not the customer ( this was just our waiter, the lady upstairs was very nice)
Portions are too small for the prices. But fold and service was outstanding
I was not ‘wowed’ at all by the food, my lobster was tough and chewy. The manager totally ignored me when asking my daughter if she wanted another drink. Never again.
We loved our dining experience at Lucca --the staff gave us wonderful attention and every details was perfect. Highly recommend it!
Bit on the expensive side but well worth it. Only complaint was, even at 9-10PM, noisy to the degree it was hard to hear the person across the table!
Overall, a good North End spot. We waited quite a while for our drinks to come. But the waiter was friendly. Good food. Authentic Italian.
Having consulted in fine dining for 5 yrs, I can say with confidence that our waiter does not understand his job. It is not enough to just write down an order and deliver food (which he also failed to do correctly). That kind is service I can get anywhere. What distinguishes a fine dining experience is a waiter who actually cares if you are enjoying the experience.
He started by rattling off what was obviously his opening monologue so fast we could barely understand the words he was saying. He ‘suggested’ a few things from the menu - all of which were the highest priced items- which made him untrustworthy. It was clear he wanted a high check average which came at the expense of caring whether we were happy. Are the staff gratuities based on their sales or on their actual tips?
Meatball, romaine + soup starters were all good except I asked the waiter specifically to bring meatballs first and then soup and salad which he didn’t do so our table was over crowded.
My husband and I both ordered pasta which was thick and overly chewy - more like a gnocchi texture than linguine- same with the rigatoni. The room was incredibly noisy (which happens ) and we were sitting two tables away from the front door so every time the door opened a huge cold draft came in. Get a curtain like every other restaurant with a draft issue.
One impressive thing: the hostess noticed our table was wobbly (something the waiter had not bothered to check prior to open) and came right over to fix the issue without us having to ask.
My conclusion is that the restaurant is busy all the time and has little incentive to make sure their waiters, on the front line of guest experience, are doing a good job worthy of the price point.
We won’t be going back.
Best authentic italian food I have had in years. The valet parking, however, was a bit pricey on top of a nice price tag for a meal in the North End.
Billy was an outstanding waiter as was the rest of your team, thank you for everything!!
Everything was beyond our expectations, from the atmosphere to the service to the food. We left full and very happy we chose Lucca for our anniversary dinner !
Nice meal, great to get a last-minute reservation.
The food, as always good, but staff was a little too eager to remove plates. On more than one occasion we had to tell the staff we weren’t finished yet.
The service was great but for the prices I didn't think the food was worth it. Portions were small and less than was expected. Didn't have much meat in the sauce :( and the bread was on the hard side by the time it made it to the table.
Food was incredible. We had the veal Osso Bucco and Filet. Both were outstanding. We stated with the Formaggio our only wish was that it was bigger.
I think my friends would be disappointed with the service and portions. Expensive and small portions. I had the the lobster dish for $39 and it was hard to find the lobster. It just came with pasta. Also no one acknowledged us for 10 minutes. I had to ask for water, bread! The food was good but the rest was disappointing.
Great service, excellent food
It was my husband’s birthday and they came with a candle - very appreciative
Great service and good food overall would highly reccomend eating here
Amazing food, was very loud and packed but have to expect this for the North End. The other dining room adds a little more of a quiet setting.
Very good food, decent service during their busiest times, just a little too loud at times.
Great food and great service! The valet wasn't available due to some issues, but teh food is very good!
Amazing food. Terrific service. Quite loud.
Food was good if you like salt (too salty, don't recommend if you have a blood pressure problem) and service were poor. We waited 50min for appetizers and if we didn't ask the reason, m sure we could wait for more. We were here for Dine Out, don't think I come back for a regular time. The manager apologized and made an extra discount because, but overall it is an average place.
Our waiter was so attentive and really pleasant. Couldn’t of had better service! The food/drinks were exceptional. Buuuut there was a group of 5 that sat next to us and were SO loud to the point it was very obvious!
Fantastic food - we had the Salmon and Swordfish. Also had Calamari for an appetizer. All were perfectly cooked and flavorful. The vegetables that came with the Salmon were also amazing. The calamari wasn't fried, but sauteed, and it was different than the fried version, but also outstanding. A nice place for a date.
The lobster gnocchi was incredible. Scallops delightful. Great selection of wine.
