Great food and friendly staff.
Bread was terrible.
Wife liked the fresh pasta
My dishes were over-spiced so I couldn't taste the mussels or the spinach
It was very loud and impossible to have a conversation. The floor needs a carpet to dampen the sound.
Excellent food, nice presentation- very nice service. However the noise level is very loud
The food was very good and service was attentive. I was bringing family there for the first time for a family celebration. Our reservation was for 6 p.m. and our orders were placed by 6:30. I was disappointed to find out that the special for the evening, Swordfish, was no longer available. Two of my party had ordered it. I could have understood this if our reservation had been much later but not at 6:30. It didn't make any sense.
This was a pre pops dinner celebrating my birthday. Very nice menu. Really enjoyed the calimari done very well but differently than most restaurants. It would be enough to make go back. Had the salmon very tasty and done well. A very nice restaurant that won’t cost you a ton of money unlike many of the more notable back bay restaurants whose menu and experience leave you wanting.
Calamari in spicy tomato broth was a great start. Rigatoni w beef-pork-veal ragu was excellent. Very good wines by the glass and cocktails.
Terrible experience. Worst evening we have had in a long time. We arrived at 6pm (party of six) prior to an 8pm Symphony performance. We ordered promptly. We advised the server of our timing. The appetizers arrived promptly (and were excellent). We waited for entrees - no food. More time passed - no food. We checked with our waiter and were told "coming right away." We waited some more - no food. We checked with our waiter again and were told "coming right away." We waited even more - no food. And no one was doing anything to address the issue. We finally went to the host stand to find the manager. We continued to wait - still no food. Our dinners finally arrived about 7:25 (more than an hour after we ordered). The restaurant was less than half full so there was no real excuse for such a delay. And to make matters worse, two of our fish entrees were barely cooked and not edible. We shared the food we did have, rush through dinner eating as fast as we could, and left hungry and very disappointed with the service and the food.
Very slow. Uncomfortably slow. Food was amazing when it came though.
This meal was wonderful. Service was impeccable and food was delicious. I would recommend this without hesitation.
The food is good but not extraordinary. However, if you are there to have a slow paced meal and conversation, you won't be able to do that. It's too loud. I do not know if it's because of the high ceilings (and the propagation of sound), but it was very difficult for us to integrate everyone in a conversation. Also, they have huge tables so we were far from each other. But what annoyed me the most was that they included the 20% gratuity in the check but did not let us know about it, so many of us double tipped unknowingly. That is not ok. They should let customers know in advance so if we want to tip more or less, then it's our choice. I won't be coming back.
Food was mediocre. Especially for the price.
Food was very good, service was very good, and the ambience is very nice.
We look forward to returning.
Very nice evening, beginning with the gracious host seating us at a nice table. The food was very good, and service was great.
Our server and his team were attentive , pleasant. The mains, starters and cocktails were among the best.
Read the menu and imagine each item done perfectly, that's Lucca. There are some surprises too. Comfortable dining room, that is more traditional than trendy, but with good spacing of tables. Our new favorite. A stand-out for quality and consistency.
I liked everything about Lucca except for the cocktail. I had a gin martini, but as my guest remarked, it was "not a generous pour." The martini glass was probably a 10 oz glass and it was only slightly over half full. I had to order a second (which came more generously poured), rather than order wine.
The rest of the meal was fine.
The oysters were good and fresh, though I would have preferred them "not dressed."
The salad I had was the best of what I had served.
The main course was good, but not very remarkable (salmon I think).
The dessert was very good and creative.
Great service--server told us about the location where the scallops(Dennis) were harvested. He was perfect with the wine pouring--750ml seemed like plenty of wine...our glasses were always just right without feeling rushed or neglected. The swordfish special was transcendent (very tasty), as were the pork and the gnocchi. The coffee was incredibly good--I regretted having to go to the theater and NOT have another cup. All around a very pleasant dinner.
Beautiful space, adequate service, decent food, but not nearly what is should be for the price.
This was my second visit to this location. This first time I went I thought it was expensive but the food was good - not outstanding but good. My husband and I have season tickets to the theatre, and this restaurant is a convenient dinner spot before a show. We agreed to meet another couple for dinner before going to a play, thinking we would have plenty of time. In fact, we arrived early and were seated but no menu or wine list was provided, and no water was poured until our friends arrived almost 15 minutes later. When the waiter delivered the menus, we told him we were going to a show. Then, we ordered a bottle of wine and one soda. After confusing the wine choice, we received our drinks 15 minutes later. Next, we tried to order our food but when asked about substitutions for items not liked, we were told items could only be taken away, not substituted. For a restaurant this expensive, this is inexcusable, particularly when sides are available for purchase. As with the first time, the food was good, not great, once it arrived. Because it took so long to get our drinks and meals, we didn’t have time for dessert. In fact, we were late to the play and could not be seated in our main floor seats. Bottom line, we felt we were in Siberia from a service standpoint - no sense of urgency or desire to ensure we had a good dining experience. On top of it all, the restaurant did not acknowledge my Open Table reservation! Given the cost. I will search for a more enjoyable experience elsewhere.
Excellent restaurant, tasty food, impeccable service, and great ambience. We will be back for another visit
Our server was fantastic. The food was amazing and the wine selection was good. Definitely pricey, so it is a place for a special occasion, but we definitely would go back.
Food was cold, service was horrendous. Would not recommend.
Excellent service and wine pairing suggestions!
The food was overpriced and the service was awful. Our cocktail order was delayed. The waitress forgot to replace our silverware after the first course. It took three requests to get grated cheese. She did not keep an eye on refilling our glasses with wine or water.
Great modern Italian food. The service was friendly and attentive.
Very expensive for the food quality. My swordfish was way over cooked. Starter salad selection was not great. Wines very overpriced.
Always good food portions are much too big
Great service and excellent meal with friends in advance of the Speaker Series. The staff is very friendly and professional. My friends and I always have a great time and Sean does a great job ensuring that the entire dinner party is happy with their meal and service.
We were returning to this restaurant after a prolonged absence due to dissatisfaction with the menu and food. Hence, we were pleasantly surprised when all the food from the gnocchi to the lobster pasta were excellently created, prepared, and presented. Of minor note was a very disappointing Caesar Salad. Although the wait staff was efficient, our waiter was less than knowledgeable on the menu and certainly not very friendly. The hosting staff, however, were very friendly, accommodating, and concerned for our care while in their restaurant. I found the cost high, but not necessarily by Boston standards where everything is outrageously priced - the reason why we don't visit, from the Cape, nearly as often as we used to. We miss our previously frequent overnight visits for concerts, plays, the museum, and just generally walking around a very pleasant city, but it's just not affordable in any season.
Pasta dishes were awesome. Service fantastic
My go to place for out-of-town visitors, special occasions, and whenever I want a good meal.
Food was quite good, service was attentive but not hovering, and ambiance was classy, yet not stuffy. My wife and I quite enjoyed a meal together out!
Spent my birthday here & it was absolutely amazing!
Very nice restaurant, I would dine there again
Celebrating running the Boston Marathon
Enjoyed our meal. Open table secured us a reservation during the busy Boston Marathon. We were seated in the entry pathway and our server was spread thin, as expected, given the crowds waiting for a seat.
Local restaurant with an Italian flare. Excellent pasta. Service with a smile. Would definitely visit again.
Wonderful and Full of Flavor! Would recommend to everyone!
Great food, great service. Attentive without being overbearing.
Waiter was catering to other tables because we did not drink, charges for fresh brewed tea and fountain pop refills, every other table was given bread baskets and we were given two pieces, waiter tried to say after the bill was brought out that he was trying to do something for the birthday noted on the reservation which seemed like an attempt to increase his tip since nothing was provided like dessert, overall not impressed with the overall experience, won’t say the food wasn’t good but the rest of the experience put a bad taste on the rest
