Luca's Ristorante of Somerset
I had never heard of Luca’s Ristorante. I found it on Open Table when looking for a restaurant located between us and family members we were meeting. We lucked out with our choice - the restaurant was amazing! We loved the food, the ambiance and the service from our server Andrew. The Fico appetizer alone is worth going back for! For our entrees, our party of 5 ordered Genovese (gnocchi with braised short rib), Pappardelle (with burrata cheese and Bologna’s sauce), Luca (shrimp, crabmeat, scallops, capers in creamy white sauce over linguine), a Filet Mignon Special, and Otto (octopus salad). We were all super happy with our choices, and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Even the bread on the table exceeded our expectations. I think Luca’s is going to be our new family meeting place because everyone wants to go back there to eat again!
The food at Luca’s is excellent. It never disappoints and is truly a hidden gem.
The veal parmesan, seafood rolatini and sea bass were all delicious. I am always satisified with the food there. The pear salad and goat cheese was a little short on the cheese but otherwise fine. Ambience is great as was the service. It was a little noisy but I find that happens everywhere depending on the crowd so can't blame them for that. Overall excellent.
Hmm. Lots of people rave about this place. We were disappointed. For what we paid, I'd expect more interesting flavors. The bruschetta is good but seriously overpriced; my son's pasta (pistachio pesto) was bland; I had the halibut which was good but not necessarily memorable; my wife had the ravioli filled with butternut squash--that was pretty special. Desserts were good. However, the restaurant was freezing cold; we kept our jackets on the entire time and were still cold, which is not exactly how you want to feel when you're eating out. The soundtrack is kind of horrible. And our entrees took forever--we arrived at 5:45 and were finally eating our entrees at 7. The waiter did treat us to a dessert as compensation, but that seemed barely adequate. Might have been worth it if the food had been out of this world, but it wasn't. And at the end of the day you're in a strip mall along route 27. More interesting food and better options in downtown NB.
Food and service was perfect.
Absolutely delicious...and great service! We started with a special of a peach appetizer with whipped ricotta...wow !! And the figs with prosciutto....yummy! Entrees were the chicken Bianca, pasta Valentino with chicken and pistachio pesto and the lobster cannelloni. All portions were more than generous and provided delectable lunches. And the bring your own just makes the restaurant more affordable. A great experience!
Very disappointed in the quality of the entrees, the lack luster and the overall experience will not ever go back.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Our waiter was so polite and accommodating! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Every time is ALWAYS the same. OUTSTANDING
Awesome food as always. Was a bit louder than we would have liked as there was a wedding rehearsal dinner next to us - 20 people. Not too bad though once they started eating. We highly recommend this restaurant! Our server, Josef, was fantastic too.
The food was delicious, but a little pricey for the location. We went with a group of 6. The service was wonderful. We were not rushed. Great time!
Eleven years I've lived in North Brunswick and I can't believe I've never been here. As soon as you walk in you forget you're in a strip mall. The decor is great and the food and service is even better. Our server Matthew was very knowledgeable and passionate about the restaurant and everything we had to eat and drink was fresh and flavorful. We will be returning!!!!!
The food was amazing!! Loved this place, definitely going back!
I just love Luca’s !! I wanted to have the crab soup but knew I could no do it and the Seafood Luca- so I settled for a fabulous meal!!!!!
Always amazing. The specials are unique and delicious! The waiters are professional and thoughtful. Consistently perfect!
Overall, a good experience. But, we ordered an appetizer special: a peach caprese salad, during the height of peach season and the peach was awful; hard, bitter, dry, it ruined the whole dish. So how do highlight peaches, and then put an unripe, inedible peach in the dish? Entree was lasagna, it would have been great except that it was too sweet. Perhaps a drier wine should have been used. Also, tables were too close together; could barely move. Now, the good. The bread for the table was fantastic! The hub's shortribs were pretty damn good. Yum..
We have t been here in a while....and sincerely wonder why! Absolutely delicious. Let’s start with the bread basket, full of individual portions of all different rolls served with oil and roasted garlic. Each of the four of us could have devoured the entire basket. Starters were figs wrapped in prosciutto...delectable and a poached pear salad. Entrees were eggplant parmigiana, veal parmigiana, gnocchi with a short rib sauce, and chicken Bianca in a white sauce with asparagus and pistachios. We love that this is BYOB and even brought a dessert wine which we enjoyed with servings of biscottis. Really a wonderful evening.
We had an early reservation at 6:15 on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was certainly hopping but there were empty tables. We were disappointed that two of the special disappeared between the recitation and the ordering time.
I really nice find somewhat off the beaten path. Not what you’d expect from a restaurant located in a strip mall. Super high quality and authentic food, located in a great atmosphere with even better service. An absolute recommended restaurant!
Birthday get together very missy as they had another party in the same side if the dining room with us. Food was decent and no complaints
We LOVE Luca’s! Been there numerous times. However the service was subpar this time. I’m assuming the waiter was new, never seen him there before. I wanted to order a couple of apps while we were all waiting to order entrees. The waiter said that the chef doesn’t like that. He prefers the entire order put into the computer. What?! Seriously?! We then had the feeling of being rushed to order because well, we kinda wanted our apps soon.
The waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed by the few other tables he had. We were clearly done and he asked if we were, we answered yes and he then proceeded to walk away without clearing the table. He came back around 15 minutes later and asked the same or if we wanted anything boxed up or dessert. We answered no and frankly at this point just wanted to leave. He then walked away again to tend to other tables. At this point my husband just walked up to the register to pay. It was just ridiculous and ruined our experience with our friends from overseas.!
Wonderful meal, as always!! They start you with fabulous bread they serve in a pretty ceramic box. My friend said it’s the best bread she has ever had and she had eaten in some
Very good restaurants! We had the figs wrapped in prosciutto, which I love , a salad and the 800 degree bruschetta. All were delicious.
For entrees, I had the seafood stuffed cannelloni, another had the veal saltimbocca, another the pasta , which is always homemade, with bay scallops, shrimp and crab in a creamy sauce and the fourth had a vegetarian pasta. Everything was wonderful!! The service is spot on, attentive but not intrusive.
Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area!
Always a great meal! I had the Luca and my husband had the lamb shank. Both delicious! Appetizers and dessert also super. Luca's is one of our favorite restaurants.
Food was great. I was surprised be how good this little restaurant is.
Great little place close to home. Very accommodating. I asked for the seafood fish over risotto instead of pasta and they were more then happy to do it.
Luca’s has quickly become a favorite; we even weathered a terrible rain storm to make our way there from Hillsborough! The food is delicious and the restaurant is lovely. It is a byob which is great. My favorite is the Luca seafood dish and the appetizer meatballs are fantastic.
A shout out to brother Danny who owns Victor’s in Hillsborough which has excellent pizza and all the delicious Italian dishes! These brothers know how to cook😀
Delicious and interesting. A small menu compared to many places. Enough variety to fill any need.
Delicious food, generous portions, outstanding servers, in a great atmosphere with lots of tasteful decorative elements imported from Italy.
The food was ok at best and overpriced. Our service was not very professional. I ordered the steak and i asked for a side if melted butter, he told me don't have that, we are not a steakhouse. I asked him to put butter in a bowl and put it in the over. He came out with 3 packets of butter. I will never go there again!
One of the weirdest dining experiences ever- greeted by the server - seated quickly - tossed menus - frequent follow up by said server who seemed stressed as the night wore on - yes it was Monday but we were not in a rush but the server was. The menu is okay but not particularly vegetarian friendly - we ordered the eggplant appetizer and two pasta dishes - the appetizer was sizable to the point my diner companion could not finish - here is where the dinner went off the rails - instead of removing the dirty plates the server plopped the pasta dishes on top of the dirty dishes as I tried to stop him the server pivoted and was gone. I was very distressed by the lack of concern as the pasta dish is now anchored in a pool of ricotta cheese? We quickly finished paid the check and stood outside for an additional 90 minutes finishing our conversation because subjecting ourselves to any further hassle from the server would not bode well for any of us!
Visited for the first time. Very pleasant restaurant. Good food. Delicious bread. Very competent waiter who made the dining experience so nice. I like the decorations. Felt like I was in a restaurant in Italy. Will definitely visit again.
The fig appetizer is my husband's favorite. I very much enjoyed the faro salad. Everything we ordered was very good. Michaela was a responsive and pleasant server We appreciate restaurants that allow BYOB.
Great meal. Try their Italian sodas. Amazing calamari. Desserts: tiramisu. Byo, friendly staff, great service.
Great place , first time dining at this restaurant, good time from first seating to the time we left, service , meals all great , cant wait to go back
Luca's is the best Italian restaurant in central Jersey. Luca's serves fresh, home-made authentic Italian dishes in a beautiful, relaxing environment. I highly recommend this restaurant - and be prepared to stay a while and enjoy - this is not a place that will rush you out.
Luca's is always a pleasure. Food is consistently great. I love meeting friend's here for dinner. Great atmosphere!!!
We were immediately seated and our server was attentive, friendly, and efficient. The food was absolutely delicious. Will definitely return.
Excellent creative ideas for food. Service was friendly and helpful. Our meal with friends was prepared perfectly and we will be sure to return. Perhaps the best Italian food I’ve had in NJ.
We were running very late on a Saturday night and had not had dinner. We thought, lets see if we can get a LATE reservation at Lucas. We did. We were greeted promptly and seated. Our server Matt was fantastic. Of course we over ordered on the appetizers but they were great. Our meals were prepared to perfection. Overall it was a very nice, albeit late evening for us. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The food was absolutely wonderful and that along with the prettiness of the room are the reasons to come here. While the room is very nice, sounds carry in the restaurant. There was a little one at the table next to us and when he screamed, the sound was accentuated in the room. This made it hard to carry on our own conversation at a normal sound level. While our waiter was attentive, we did find that neither our waiter or the support that offered us drinks once we were seated, know anything about the local wines they sell. This was disappointing as we chose the wrong wine for our meal based on little/incorrect advice.
Excellent as usual
