Had another good meal here. Food is reliably well prepared. The service was good and properly paced. Comfortable atmosphere.
The meal began with the Farrow salad. It had roasted beets, goat cheese, pistachio nuts over arugula. Delicious. Then the chicken special. Which were two chicken breasts each rolled up with prosciutto, mozzarella and chopped portobello mushrooms in a red wine demi glaze over the best home-made cavatelli ever! YUM. I am just wondering why they are not giving OpenTable points.
A special place for great food, service and super special ambiance with authentic decorations from Ischia, Italy. The young waiters are super informed and attentive.
We had a lovely dinner. The seating is a little tight but the food and service were very good
Food good but out of many desserts
Red sauce is bitter, chicken or veal cutlets are not tenderized.
We visited the Italian island of Ischia last summer and loved it. We were told that Luca's chef owner was from Ischia and created authentic cuisine from the area. So right! The place is charming in its decor looking very much like Ischia. The food was carefully prepared and oh so delicious. There were six in our party and everyone was very pleased with their meals. It was a wonderful experience and we will return. BYOB helps to keep the tab down, a plus. Hats off to the chef.
This was my second Valentines Day dinner here with my wife and it was great just like the last Valentines Day!!..Great food menu and service, cozy, all for a good dinner price for Valentines..looking forward to eating again at this establishment
Delicious food. 2nd best steak I ever had, but pricey. sometimes though - you just have to splurge. My wife and I loved eating here.
if you are looking for traditional Italian. not here, its an unique menu and very good and Its BYOB.
Its not cheap, but worth every penny.
Another outstanding experience the food the service the meal the company all can't be beat
Amazing food, great service, always a pleasure. Will definitely be back here soon.
Second week in a row we went to Luca’s. My wife and myself love this place. Great old school Italian. Fresh ingredients and a very attentive and knowledgeable staff. We be back very soon. You must try it at least once. BYOB.
This place is great, food is top shelf
It doesn’t look like much on outside but the food is some of the best stuff around. We have been there a few time and the braised short rib is the best I’ve ever had. Plus it’s a BYOB. We had great service as usual
My daughter and I love this restaurant!! This is where we celebrate special occasions! The food is delicious, the service is great and we love the atmosphere!!!
Great atmosphere. Great service. Special decor. Perfect for my intentions on a Saturday afternoon with a new friend. The "pompei" dessert was extremely good. I look forward to going back again soon.
As always very pleasant never disappoint ing
New Year’s Eve special menu was fabulous!
I have dined at Luca's many times over the past few years and have always had a wonderful experience. The food is expertly prepared and the service is always top notch.
It was my first time eating here- the service was impeccable while the food was outstanding . We had a quiet out of the way table . I’m definitely going back 😏
The place was great. Everything was spot on. The server was great. I will definitely be back to dine there again.
The food was good not great. I had the risotto with seafood typically difficult to make. The seafood was cooked well the risotto a bit over cooked for my taste.
Very overpriced for the quality received. My basic complaint was value. With many other byob resturant in the area a better meal can be had for the price
The Brushetta was delicious. Their portions were ample. The restaurant was intimate, warm and inviting. Wish they had a liquor license.
If you love Italian food you will not be disappointed.
Food was Amazing. Delious meatballs for appetizers and wonderful pasta. Service is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
Good food and excellent service. Would definitely come here again and recommend to friends and family.
The restaurant Opentable write-up nor the customer comments noted that this restaurant was a BYOB entity. Since I do not live in Somerset nor in the State of New Jersey, I did not know of the BYOB policy.
The waiter asked for our drink order and I ask for a glass of wine and he advised wine only by bottle. I advise him that I will NOT be purchasing a bottle of wine and that ENDED our SERVICE for the evening. I ordered a salad and we ordered our entrees with a glass of tea for each. He NEVER delivered the teas. The help staff when the salad arrived was advised about the tea orders and immediately provided them. When my glass was empty, I placedit by the aisle side so it could be refiled. NEVER happen by the waiter. The help staff refilled the glass after delivering the main meal. Thus, I rated service has highly unacceptable and lower my food rating since it is hard to enjoy your food when your waiter ignores you as a PAYING customer.
Luca's needs to do nothing more than they are currently doing. The service is spot on; the bread is always served warm; and the food is spectacular. I had the Genovese Artesian Pasta (gnocchi and braised beef) which was excellent. The gnocchi melts in your mouth. My wife had the Luca seafood dinner which she orders all the time and is never disappointed. We found Luca's when we first moved to Somerset 4 years ago and have never been disappointed.
Good authentic southern Italian food.Good local wines at reasonable prices.
Best Italian restaurant in Central NJ. Chef Andrea delivers an authentic experience down to every detail. Food is fresh and creative and the ambience is warm with local Italian artisan objects from Ischia & Tuscany. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend Luca’s!
Excellent home made food at very reasonable prices. A gem hidden in a strip mall
This restaurant got > 4 stars from hundreds of reviews; it is the best-rated Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. We drove 20 minutes to get there and were immediately seated. The place was busy and customers looked happy. It is BYOB unless you want a full bottle of local New Jersey wine which is decent but not stellar. Service was good and menu is inspired but the food was not very tasty. We liked the pancetta Caesar salad which the waiter recommended as more popular than the regular Caesar salad. The bread was fresh and served hot in a ceramic bread box, very nice. The Saltimbocca was well-presented but not flavorful. The black bass special came on wilted spinach and topped with lump crab. The fish was fresh and was properly cooked but again it was not very savory and the crab was simply chunks of crab, briny and cool, seemed to have just come out of the can. The gelato and sorbetto came in multiple flavors and were served in generous portions. Nice ambience, cozy unpretentious neighborhood place, clever decor, good service, fair prices. If the food had more zing I would rate it a 4-star.
I absolutely love this place and have been here many time. The food is exquisite, the ambience is great and the service is always top notch. The homemade pasta's are beyond delicious and the fish (branzino is my favorite) is always fresh and expertly prepared. No matter what you choose (i.e., fish, veal, chicken or beef) you will not be disappointed. Be sure to save room for dessert - the tiramisu is amazing!
The food is fantastic! The reason for the so-so rating has to do with service. We were seated and sat for 15 minutes without seeing any of the wait help. I had to get up and mention to the maitre d. He apologized and after that the service was good. We'll go back as it's close and the food is great. Hopefully the wait staff will be more attentive.
The pasta is homemade. Ossobuco os good. Ambience is cozy. Service is good. The bread is warm and delicious. I really recommend this place.
Our service was extremely slow and we had to actually find the waiter and ask for the entrees. The mozzarella salad was pretty good as was the bread from the bread basket. My panini was just ok and I only ate less than half. My son't fish was nothing special a little overcooked. We opted not to have dessert. Won't be back
This was a good meeting place for my cousins and I to meet for lunch. It was mid-week, quiet, and only a very few tables were occupied. At one point, we were the only table. It took a long time to get served, and we had to ask several times to get things we asked for (e.g., lemons for my sparkling water, bread, salt). The waiter would disappear for a long time. Luckily, we were not in a hurry. However, the food was delicious and we really enjoyed our meals. I had a chicken dish that had an Italian ham, asparagus, and bechamel sauce. It was delicious. I would return again (this was our second time here).
A hidden gem! Delicious, authentic food that is moderately priced. The BYOB option is a great bonus!
Been there many times always great food and excellent service.
