If you are seeking not just a great meal, but a great dining experience, you need look no further than Luca’s Ristorante Somerset. Tucked away on Rt. 27 between Princeton and New Brunswick, Luca’s Somerset is an oasis of authentic regional Italian cuisine. Offering modern adaptations of traditional dishes from Ischia, here you can enjoy hand-cut ravioli stuffed with Chef Andrea’s latest mouth-watering combinations, a selection of fish entrees so fresh that they evoke the Mediterranean Sea, or a filet of such quality that it is paralleled only by the accoutrement that accompany it. Our dining room décor is uniquely Ischitana, and goes to show that here at Luca’s Somerset, we understand that the difference is in the details. When you are done with it all, take in the cozy setting with a delicious dessert made from scratch, and the perfect cup of locally micro-roasted espresso or cappuccino. So please, be our guest.

The food was outstanding. I highly recommend, but you do need to make a reservation since the restaurant is small. We will be back.

We have been to this restaurant many times and we were never disappointed. Food is great, service is good and it’s byob. You need a reservation which is a bit of a pain, since it’s usually book by Wednesday for Saturday night, so plan ahead. It’s worth it.

Great Italian food!
But I noticed the prices went to up quite of bit since last year. They seem to change the menu quite often.
Overall, I would recommend.

Service was prompt and professional. Was there for a business luncheon and it was quiet enough to have a pleasant conversation. The food was very tasty. Very unique take on a Caesar Salad, but wonderful. The pasta fagioli was a little odd in that it contained very little pasta or vegetables. It was closer to a tomato bisque, but very tasty. The bread is average and the croutons that came with the salad were stale and tasteless. They need to improve that aspect of the meal. A nice vibe in the restaurant, which was surprising because it is in a strip mall. Despite small issues with food, the overall experience was very good. I look forward to going back.

A very cute, and small, place. We were warned, when they called to confirm, that they double-book, so that we'd basically have two hours to eat...no lingering. Two hours is our standard time, but we thought it was a bit cheesy to tell us that. The waiters are fast, no talking, probably because they've been trained to move you along quickly. The food was diner quality (we had higher hopes). We wish them success, however. It's a difficult business.

Luca's has been a favorite since I moved to North Brunswick, and my partner and I have many fond memories of sharing special occasion meals there. It IS a bit pricey to eat there frequently, alas. But that makes it even more special when we go! If you try nothing else, get the figs -- yum!

Was quiet as we were only ones in for a late Saturday lunch. Seafood Luca was enjoyed but pasta with chicken parm did not taste or look homemade. One app, two entrees, one dessert and a beverage was $96.

Went to Lucas because we did an overnight in Somerset and it was rated so highly. It in an odd area, but thought we'd try lunch. However, didn't realize that at noon on a Saturday, you can only have dinner menu. Restaurant highly decorative..but was more interested in the food choices. I chose a chicken dish , which was supposed to be battered chicken with spinach and Italian ham and mozzerella and spinach. The dish was purple . The chicken was drowned in this chianti sauce. The flavor was bitter and the presentation in purple made me sick . The dinner menu is priced high. My husband had pappardelle bolonaisse and that was homemade and not overwhelming. I didn't feel well after taking some bites of mine, but thought maybe it was just me. I don't know..but I would not go again. I just wanted a simple lunch .

It's easy to forget you're in Somerset, NJ when you dine at this charming Italian restaurant. You are greeted with old-world atmosphere and ambience as soon as you walk in the door. Then you are faced with the dilemma of choosing what to eat from an extensive and creative menu. Many of the offerings and preparations far exceed what you see at most other Italian restaurants.
An excellent variety of appetizers can be ordered in small and large portions. The "fico" and "spiedini" we had were both superb. We can't wait to try others on the menu during future visits. Our "Luco" and "Branzino" entrees were deftly prepared and presented.
Service throughout our visit was exceptional. Our waiter, Karim, was the best server we have ever experienced. He was helpful and attentive and anticipated our every need without being intrusive.
Luca's is a restaurant you need to include on your "must try" list. You won't be sorry.

A wonderful restaurant with incredible consistent food as always :) As a vegetarian, I never find an issue with their menu as their vegetarian offerings are scrumptious and well paired. A suggestion I have is to bring back the Burrata special, with the artichoke, balsamic pearls, burrata, etc. It was delicious! Also revamping vegetarian offerings every once in a while would be a delight :)

We had a great, quiet meal. We especially liked the Fico, fig, appetizer -- out of this world. The cannelloni also was excellent. Our friend had the pappardelle, which he enjoyed. It's a lovely space, which was about half empty when we were there and nice and quiet. Our server was friendly and helpful. We would definitely go there again.

My husband and I love going to Luca’s. The specials are just that, special. I started with the octopus salad. The addition of olives was very creative. Luca’s employs salads that use grains, which I love. My husband had the pappardell bolognese. The pasta was very tender. My entree was soft shell crab. I’ve never enjoyed this dish more. It wasn’t heavily seasoned or breaded; it was just perfect. We will definitely go back for more.
