Luca's Ristorante Flemington Ratings and Reviews
The food was good, but a bit over priced. They got a couple of things wrong on our orders, but overall it wasn't anything to complain about. The pasta special that I got was good, but the pasta was a bit under cooked. Also, it was crummy weather, so the place was mostly empty, but we still felt a little rushed. It was a convenient spot for us to meet our friends in the middle and we had a nice time though...
A hidden gem in Flemington. Saw this through open table and did not recognize the name but wanted something different. Want a fantastic pleasantly pleased surprise.
0.half portions to try more things. Half a portion of the best calamari I have had in a long time. The buffalo mozzarella was creamy deliciousness.
0.Small entree portions so that you can try appetizer and have room for an entree. You can also have the full size entree if you are hungry. Half portions you won’t go away hungry. I had the tortellini and wife had the steak lasagna (WOW). Both were fantastic.
0.The best part of ordering smaller portions is room for dessert. Upon description of imported cannoli, I was sold!! Had to try and was not disappointed.
We were greeted upon entry and seated immediately. The waiter was both knowledgeable and helpful and had everything memorized. He was attentive and made sure we had what we needed or wanted throughout the meal. Fresh pepper. Fresh grated cheese. Ground salt. I can’t think of a better evening.
Decide is old world Italian. Reminded me of my grandmother’s place. Wine press. Italian nik naks.
Easy to get to off route 31. Just look left fast otherwise you will pass it.
Appetizers and service were the best parts of dinner. Pear, spinach, goat cheese and walnut salad was delicious. The stuffing in the artichoke was dense. The beef bracciole was very good. 3 out of 4 if the Main courses were not great. The veal was not tender in the Gremolata and the shrimp/lobster filling in the pasta was not as fresh as it should have been giving the fish a very fishy taste. The double beef entree was good.
Overall, Not worth a second visit!
What you get when you have a chef/owner who is willing to test the boundaries of traditional Italian food to create the most innovative menu? Luca’s continues to evolve (and to impress) with excellent preparation and a very focused approach to great food. My braised Lamb shank was savory and tender, with a unique blend of interesting vegetables. All of the pasta dishes are freshly made in house and my wife’s past was amazing. Our salads were oversized and incredibly fresh. But save room for dessert because they also make those in house and are equal unique. This was already one of the best restaurants in the area and it just continues to get better and better.
This was our first visit to the Restaurant.
First impressions, decor tired and dated.
The waiter was friendly, knowledgeable
The Pinot Grigio wine from a local vineyard
was light, crisp and delicious.
The fish dish was very nice. However, the ‘homemade ‘ pasta vegetarian dish was heavy. It also had too much Balsamic Vinegar which overtook any other flavors.
We went at 5 pm on a Saturday and were the only people there(awesome because it was quiet and we were catching up with friends we havent seen in over 3 years). Service was outstanding, calamari app was good. Dinner entree we chose was
Braised rib with beef reduction and an AMAZING mushroom sauce. We'd def come back again!
Intimate atmosphere. Good for a dinner date or any special event. Wait staff friendly and attentive. I recently tried their Tortellacci, which was delicious, you can tell the pasta is homemade. My favorite has to be their 50 layer lasagna. If you want authentic Italian food, look no further.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Luca's. The calamari was the best we have had in years. Very fresh, lightly dusted in a rice flour and perfectly cooked. The arugula salad was delicious. Finished with mussels in a red sauce over homemade pasta. Delicious! The bread that accompanied our meal was a true highlight. Polite and attentive service from Bill. This was our first visit, but it won't be our last!
The food was delicious and the servings were huge. An entree could easily serve 2. The menu was limited but definitely had some great options. Even the salad was big enough for 2. The Brasato was delicious, the 4 fishes special was great with the biggest prawn I'd ever seen. Our waiter was on top of our every request while giving us plenty of space/privacy. Great little spot with a great menu at great prices.
It is always exciting to see what new items are on the menu at Luca's. The owner/chef is terrific at adding his own point of view to classic dishes and tonight he really outdid himself. He has a visiting Chef from Tuscany helping in the kitchen and she is also extremely talented but together they are a force of nature.
Swordfish Carpaccio was fantastic, with just a hint of citrus sweetness. A wild mushroom Lasagna was perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. Spinach salad with wine-poached pears was fresh and crisp. Cannelloni filled with cheese and chicken and was enough for another entire meal! Homemade gelato and a hazelnut tart completed our thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Luca's is truly a local gem, and my wife and I probably dine and/or entertain there six or eight times a year. The food has always exceeded our expectation and this weekend was no exception.
I took my husband to Luca's for his birthday. The wait staff and the chef were warm and inviting. I loved the fresh homemade pasta with bolognese sauce. Super authentic and delicious. We cannot wait to go back and sample some of the chef's creative specialties which included infused pastas, seafood and steaks. The price was reasonable and a good value for what we received.
Great place with unique food. A gem!
We went to Luca's for the first time last Saturday and the experience was fantastic. Our waiter, Brandan was attentive and had a good sense of humor! The portions were huge and delicious. Definitely worth the money and can't wait to take my friends back for another meal.
We went to Luca's for the first time this weekend. It was by far, thee best Italian restaurant I have ever been to (and I'm Italian!). I have lived in the area over 10 years and I never heard about it until now. It is very hidden. Don't pass on it just because it's in a strip mall. It deserves to be in it's own elaborate upscale building. It is the most authentic Italian food you will find anywhere. The portions were huge enough for 3-4 people! The prices are high but given how much leftovers you take home, it's not bad. The quality of the food is top-notch and very fresh! You can tell the chef really puts a lot of pride into each and every dish! Even the bread was hot and homemade. We had appetizers, entrees, salad, and dessert! Every bite was amazing. I can't say enough about this place. It puts other so called Italian restaraunts to shame! I do agree with other reviewers, don't expect to go there if you are in a rush. It took us 1 hour and 45 minutes for just the 2 of us and there were no other people there the entire time. But that is only because everything is being freshly cooked while you wait. Definitely worth it!! We will absolutely be coming here again and again!
Luca's has long been a favorite of ours. He has an interesting approach to Italian cuisine and we love fresh pasta, which they make daily. Tonight 6 of use got together and had a fantastic evening. Out waiter, Bill, paid careful attention, and the kitchen was really on their game. Most enjoyed: the grilled Radicchio salad, which was smokey and crisp. They had two Lasagne specials, one with short ribs, one a seven cheese version, and both were perfect. My wife thoroughly enjoyed Grouper, and one of our friends devoured a seafood quartet over squid-ink infused pasta. I somehow talked myself into a Hazelnut tart for dessert, which was dense and flavorful. Luca's seldom disappoints but tonight they really gave us their best.
Delightful surprise a few former colleagues were looking for a mid point to meet for lunch. Staff was very accommodating, we spent a good part of our time there catching up and never felt rushed. Our meal was plentiful,so much so that we each took plenty home. Love to support local neighborhood restaurants like Luca.
Luca's continues to evolve. Owner/Chef Luca has always been a scholar when it comes to preparing a unique approach to fine Italian food. Tonight specials were outstanding and it was very difficult for us to narrow it down to just two entrées. 50 layer lasagna with short ribs was outstanding and enough for two people. Beet ravioli with Ricota filling was absolutely the freshest Pasta. The fried calamari was delicious. And my wife's pear and spinach salad was terrific, albeit a little overdressed. Homemade gelato rounded out desert. It was a terrific evening the food was outstanding and we look forward to our next visit to Luca's.
I can't say enough about the fresh ingredients they use. The specials are always unique and worth a try. The portions are on the large size so you'll be going home with leftovers for tomorrow's lunch or dinner. The ambiance is simple and quiet but upscale. You can bring your own bottle or order from their wine list. We'll defiantly be going back.
