Return to the days of ancient Hawaii. Where stories and music passed down from kupuna (elders) are shared with you, our honored guests.

The most significant style of celebration in ancient Hawaii was the luau, held to honor kings, gods and guests. The Grand Hyatt Kauai Luau welcomes you to join us for this time-honored event. The feast is sure to satisfy and the entertainment will keep you enchanted as you learn the traditional dance of the many locales of Polynesia. We invite you to experience the beauty, romance and adventure. It is an evening that you will always remember.
The blowing of the conch shell begins the evening as the soothing sounds of a Contemporary Hawaiian trio lilt through the air. The royal spread includes cuisine from the melting pot of cultures making up Hawaii. After dinner prepare to be enchanted by the historic yet exotic dances of Polynesia, from the islands of Tahiti, Samoa, and New Zealand, to our own Hawaii

This was an amazing Luau! The food was excellent! The scenery was beautiful! Having been to others on the island, this one was very good in comparison!

We booked this Luau because it was the only one on the island set outside. Despite the good weather it was moved inside. It was difficult to hear and the ambiance was mediocre at best. The food was decent, which was just about the only good thing. I would not recommend to a friend.

Unfortunately the weather was questionable so they moved the luau indoors. From where we sat we only saw the heads of the performers. Indoors and no view makes for a "meh" towards awful experience. They should have a taller indoor stage for ALL to see. The food was okay, nothing exciting. The real unfortunate part was the weather ended up okay.

The food was amazing and the entertainment was lovely however was it worth $112? No. If it were priced lower, that would've been the icing on the cake but I still enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone!

The luau itself was very good, good food and nice show. It was a little pricier than I expected. I would rather pay a little less and not have had the open bar. I felt like I had to get my money's worth. This luau was recommended by AAA but in the future I'd maybe research a little further first before just booking.

My husband and I visited the Grand Hyatt Kauai for a Hawaiian Luau. It was fantastic! The hotel/resort is gorgeous itself, but the Luau was incredible - the food was great, many different tasty buffet options and desserts, and the live entertainment was awesome!! The host navigated us through the many Pacific Island cultures that influenced and developed the Hawaiian islands, providing a great history-telling and beautiful, vibrant dance and musical performances. There was even well-executed interaction with the crowd! An overall delight, honor, and exceptional experience to enjoy!! We plan to go again and bring family and friends!!

The luau was held in their courtyard instead of by the beach. Pretty expensive for what your getting and we probably would have rather gone to tidepools again for the price. It’s a luau experience though so it was fun. John was awesome!

I have been to ten authentic Luaus in Hawaii. I have to say that the Luau at the Grand Hyatt Poipu Kauai Resort and Spa was the best Luau that I have ever been to!The service and the traditional dancing, storytelling, etc,was all phenomenal. I especially liked the audience participation, as my Husband and I were celebrating his birthday. This Luau is not to be missed!Thank You Grand Hyatt Kauai for an evening we will never forget!

Food was amazing! However, due to rain the luau was moved into the ballroom which took away the ambiance. The mc and dancers were great. The wait staff never left you with an empty beverage glass.

My daughter is seven and we have talked about doing a luau for some time. We are so glad we had the opportunity to go to the Grand Hyatt Luau. The food was great, entertainment was fabulous and we learned a lot about the Hawaiian culture and history of the islands. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it will be a great memory for our family.

The luau performers were good and the food was pretty good too. But it was pretty expensive for what it is (probably worth 1/2 the price). The ambience was not so great because it had to be in the ballroom due to the rain. Would have been much better outside next to the ocean or something (but you can't help the rain).

To be fair, there was rain in the forecast so Hyatt may bed the luau into the ballroom. This was not. what we had in mind at all. The entertainment was very good, but the sound system was terrible, so we couldn’t understand what they were saying. The food was only okay. The pork was very good. There were not enough vegetables in the choices. The spread was very thin considering we were spending $100 per person. I guess the price is high because of the open bar, but the alcohol wasn’t very good either. Overall it felt like I was in a land-locked cruise with far too many people.

for the price it was very underwhelming. was in a ballroom (wasn’t raining but perhaps this was the plan incase it did?) with no fire (clearly considering the setting) and the pig was already cooked. still would love to see an actual luau.

Best food at any luau hands down. The drinks were flowing freely. Entertainment was great only downside was that is was in the ballroom. However as it was a raining week glad we booked at the Hyatt as the other luaus were outside and canceled! Thank you Hyatt!!

Way, way too many people. Chaotic seating. What good are the reservations when seating is a free for all? Unattentive waitress. Dry chicken. Chewy steak. Need I say more? Learn from Old Lahaina in Maui. Saving grace, if there was one, was the entertainment.

The food was good but the actual Luau entertainment kind of boring. It had to be indoors because of rain which probably changed it a little but thought too much talking and not enough fire throwing. My teenagers were super bored.

The food was amazing, best Luau food I’ve ever had. The only reason it wasn’t all 5 stars is because it was indoors because of rain.

Good all around luau. Two recommendations: 1. Get there earlier than open tables says if you want to be near the show; 2. Save a lot of room for dessert. The coconut cream pie was a treat from the past for me, and the pineapple bread pudding was also scrumptious..up

We enjoyed the entertainment immensely and the entertainers and emcee were top notch! We loved the singing and dancing, and the fire warrior was amazing! The food was disappointing however. The pork was dry and not very tasty. Other food offerings were average. The steak was good though. Desserts average.

We loved it but I would cancel our reservation if we did it again and it isn't outside. They moved us inside and there's nothing festive about a luau in a conference room. Food and service were great just the setting indoors was a bummer!

I couldn't have been more disappointed about not being told this was an indoor luau!!!! I made reservations ALMOST 4 MONTHS PRIOR. If I had ever been told it was inside, I would have made other plans. It was two birthday milestone celebrations and the first luau for my 8 and 6 year old grandchildren. I was not told indoor until I arrived and too late to make any changes. Someone needed to advise when it was decided to do indoors (it was NOT due to the rain--a corporate event instead took the place of the luau grounds). A party of 8. You can imagine the cost and then to have it inside----VERY ARROGANT. The show was fine, the food very good and the service exceptional. Only things keeping my volcano from erupting at the event itself!!!

The Luau was moved inside because of a slight risk of a rain shower - this move was way too conservative since the atmosphere inside a banquet room was poor for this event. I would have preferred being outside even if it meant getting a little wet.

The lawn and ocean views are stunning and the food was delicious. The entertainment however was a little lackluster and dull. We attended another luau on the island that had much better dancing, singing and music. For the price we expected more.

The venue was great, but unfortunately the entertainment portion had to be canceled due to rain, and could not be moved inside because facilities were unavailable in the Hyatt. Staff promised a 50% refund but I am not wanting to have to keep checking for a credit ! One of the servers remarked it’s the first time in 15 years he can remember a situation like this , usually they assess weather earlier in the day and move them inside. The food was good and it’s a beautiful resort but they need a better process to give instant refunds. My family was on a once in a life time trip and this was going to be the end of a great week. I realize weather is not their fault but assuring with instant refunds would’ve helped us all feel better immediately. I have a feeling I am going to have to keep checking in with my bank and call them to remind them.

I was unimpressed with the concierge staff member at the hotel who sold our ticket. He was a jerk with a sloppy appearance and a sarcastic sense of humor. No signs on the premises to direct you where to go. Asked two staff members how to get to the luau and neither one knew!! I was surprised that the event wasn’t moved inside since they were handing out towels due to rain. I had read they moved it inside in other reviews but ours was completely cancelled so it was $649 for our meal. I understand weather cannot always be predicted but at least have a back up plan or some kind of compensation discount to offset the loss
And try again. I think because there was a conference maybe there was limited availability for use of what normally would be used for an inside performance. Waiter was fun, food was plentiful but I didn’t think it was that special. I wish we would have gone on a helicopter tour or something else. I would have felt the same way about the staff even if the show would have gone as planned

Settled for this luau because the Smith Luau was 100% booked for the week. I didn't see them cook the pie ground as done at other luaus. Food was ok. Open bar - servers were good at keeping the drinks flowing.
The MC was good. Polynesian Show was Ok - a Maui traditional luau was much better.
The dance troop was very small in terms of number of total dancers.
