Loxley's in East Petersburg, Pennsylvania is more than just a patio and a deck outside of the historic Lancaster hotel. While its location definitely gives Loxley's a unique ambiance and guests a great view, its an institution all its own.
The menu at Loxley's definitely helps. For an appetizer, consider the black and bleu Kobe beef sliders, the shrimp cocktail or crispy calamari. Even the chips and homemade salsa are incredible. If you have a big appetite, the Angus burgers here will fill you up. You can build your own or order a specialty version like the upper house burger which is made with smoked bacon, cotton fried onions, mushrooms, Swiss cheese and aged cheddar.

Loxley's Ratings and Reviews
There were many delicious choices on the menu, it was actually difficult for my group to decide! All entrees were very tasty so nobody was disappointed with the final decisions. The outdoor dining space was full, so we ate inside. While the view wasn't as nice, the area will still comfy. Our server was sweet, but a little flaky. Overall, it was a nice evening out for our group of six.
The day was beautiful for an outdoor lunch. When we got there our table was waiting. Our server promptly greeted us and served us our drinks. The selection of food was great and the food we selected was very good. The atmosphere was so relaxing, we ending up spending two hours having lunch, sitting on the deck, enjoying our conversation and our wine. I will make it a point to go there again. I have already recommended the place to other people. Thanks Loxley's for a lovely experience.
The entire dining experience was outstanding...from the recognition of our anniversary to the service and food. We were treated to an exquisite salmon appetizer along with our order which included a delicious crab corn soup and a buttery lobster tail. The server was extremely attentive and complimentary.
My boyfriend and I went for dinner on a Wednesday night and were not super impressed with the food, but our server was friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We would have sat outside except it was still a little too humid. Dining outside is much more fun. Try it for yourself!
In my second time visiting I was looking forward to dine in Loxley. I had a wonderful experience last year and this time was absolutely amazing
My 4 year old daughter had an amazing time.
Our waitress Ashley was fantastic and I can't wait to visit again. Great food and drinks at a very reasonable prices.
We had a great time with another couple. Loxley's is an hour away for both of us, so it's a perfect place to meet old friends. We don't like outside whe it's summer, so being inside, it was like we were the only one's there. The service was great,. We stayed for hours and just had a really great evening with close friends. Almost forgot the food...Four different meals - Each very different, but each one was prepared perfectly. Our Waiter was personable and gave us our privacy and at the same time was right there when our drink glasses were ready for refills. We'll be back!
We've visited this restaurant several times, so maybe this is a "collective review." We've never had any "bad" food here. There's always plenty of great-tasting food, nicely plated. We've enjoyed taking and sending several of our friends there. (We live about 90 minutes away, so it's not just a "neighborhood" spot for us.)
However, if you are one who likes a relatively quiet place to eat, this isn't that unless you get there at a very off=peak hour. I love going there for an early lunch, for instance.
Finally, we've never had surly wait staff. Sometimes, however, even some of the most pleasant people seem to act like they're just now getting over a rough "night before."
But, don't miss the food!
We had a fantastic Saturday lunch outside at Loxley's. It was wonderful weather and we really enjoyed sitting outside. The waitress was great and the food was served efficiently and was wonderful. From previous visits Loxley's there was a definite improvement; they did a great job! Thanks for a wonderful lunch experience!
Had reservations for 8 PM, but tables outside are first come, first serve. Since it was a beautiful night, my wife and I decided to wait. And wait. And wait. Ninety minutes later we were seated in the bottom half of the tree house. This is a circular area underneath the tree house, surrounded by a low stone wall and is open to the outside, but is roofed and isn't truly outside and certainly not the table in the tree house I imagined. The hostesses were rude, waiter was good, the food OK, the bar noisy, prices were about what I expected. If you go, it’s OK, but don't wait for an "outside" table - it's just not worth it.
We had never been to this restaurant before...but will absolutely be back. There were 6 of us...we all ordered something different and we all tasted each other's entree...there was not one out of the six that wasn't excellent!! Service was GREAT....we walked around afterwards, and it looks like a great place to be...inside or out!!
We waited over two hours to receive our dinner!! Our glasses were dirty and my friend found a hair cooked in his meal. I brought my friends out to celebrate my birthday and we had a not so great experience. We were all disapointed and the food seemed to be much smaller portions than a previous visit.
I left an expensive pair of sunglasses on my table and when I came back about 10 minutes later they were gone. I asked the hostess and a few bussers if anyone had picked them up and no one had. The place was all but empty customer wise. I'm not one to point fingers but I have a very strong suspicion that one of the restaurant staff walked away with them. When I asked the hostess she acted like she had never seen me that night despite the lack of people dining there and was completely helpless in trying to find them. Hence the one star for service.
We were a group of 12, including 3 kids, and were pleased that Loxley's could accommodate our request to eat upstairs. However, the service was slow, our server was indifferent, and the food was tasty but not great. The live music (guitar and voice) was a nice touch, but the singer made every song sound pretty much the same. The setting is nice - especially the outdoor seating upstairs - and drinks were good... when they finally arrived!
My husband and I had eaten here before, and before this event I would have recommended Loxley's. However, given that our entire party was looking forward to the evening and came away disappointed, I wouldn't recommend it now.
We were a table of 7, my husband, myself & 3 sons; my Aunt & her husband. My husband ordered a 7&7 and the server didn't know what that was, asking if it was made with ginger ale. We ordered 4 apps, one was the nachos grande which was to have pulled chicken, but he brought crab nachos, which would have been ok, but one of the other apps WAS THE CRAB DIP. Didn't bother to correct because it had already taken 1/2 hour to get those. THEN only halfway through, they brought our entrees - but not the whole table's! Just my family's, so my Aunt and Uncle (who had no apps) sat there even longer with no food, about 10 minutes. It's a shame, because the restaurant is BEAUTIFUL, the food good, but the waitstaff was incompetent/poorly trained.
My family and I came here for my sister's birthday luncheon. I've dined here a few times before, but it was a first for my family. The food was excellent & everyone enjoyed the scenery! It was a perfect day to sit outside, and it was great that we could walk around and look at the fish, waterfall, etc. throughout the meal.
The 2 hostess set up for outside & inside is kind of weird; the outside hostesses seemed confused about Open Table reservations. Inside we had to wait 20 minutes past rez time but the hostess was sweet & we got our preferred table. It was packed inside and out! It was our waitress' first night and she had not been trained! I felt bad for her but she did a good job for us. The people sitting next to us had evidently been waiting for their food a long time and were acting out; the older man kept making a scene. Two waitresses near us were arguing over a table's food! Our food came quickly but we had to ask for bread with our 2 entree pasta dishes; it didn't come until we were finished. My chicken & penne dish was delicious! Cajun Pasta so-so.
Overall experience was pleasant. Excellent service, food and ambiance. Our only complaint was that the table next to ours had very loud and rude guests. They appeared to be intoxicated. We were there for a birthday/ anniversary and it put a bit of a damper on the atmosphere. Besides the minor setback, it was overall a grear time, as was our stay at the inn. We will certainly be back!
I love Loxley's and the food was great. It was great for a group of four - great, great food, but I'm not sure I'm bringing a larger group again. We needed a handicap accessible table which was quickly accommodated but I think that put another table on our waitress. A manager offered us more bread/filled drinks while we waited, but I was a little disappointed. This was not typical of my other experiences here.
Service was poor, rude hostest not willing to accommodate. And it was not advertised anywhere that it was an expensive brunch only. The floor was disgusting and my service dog had to lay on gum smashed into the ground with bugs, food debris, and other disgusting things.
My Fiancee and I took our mothers here for Mothers Day and they had a buffet special........ Everything was so amazing and perfectly made. It was so beautiful and elegant, I cannot wait to go back! It's also right off of Route 30 so its very convenient for anyone to get to!
We made reservations for mothers day. We have eaten at Loxley's multiple times and love everything about it. I was beyond disappointed and frustrated to get there, be seated, and told there is no menu, buffet only. It was me and my two kids. I had gastric bypass surgery and i never ever never order the buffet. Why was this not posted on the website where i made the online reservation???? I don't understand why a menu was not available ????
Overall we had a good experience. I would have liked the option of ordering off the menu for my 81 year-old mother. Dessert selections were limited. Beef carving station was delish as was the pasta station. Lines became super long. There were a lot of people waiting for service.
I had checked their website out prior to making the reservation. There was no mention at all that the only option would be a buffet for Mother's Day. We wanted to order off the menu. The food was OK, had some issues with temperatures of items. The whole set-up was odd and very difficult to maneuver. You had to walk far to get to the food, and part of that walk included a very narrow dark hallway that was only wide enough for 1 person. Not very easy to have people trying to squeeze through each direction carrying plates. My father-in-law got an omlette after waiting in line 40 minutes for it. Instead of having large bowls of fruit cut up, they were cutting fruit to order which took forever. The food areas were set up very oddly.
We had reservations and had to wait over a half hour when there was many open tables. No commuication from staff inside to outside staff about waiting time. Once seated we got our drinks quick but we had to wait over an hour for apps because there was some type of issue with the order tickets. Everyone around us got there food before us even though they came after us. It wasn't that crowded for dinner. Than we had an initial 45 minutes for our dinner. My manager apologized but it was frustrating. And they don't tell you that there are no free refills on soda or ice tea. Beautiful place just not worth your time.
When we reserved our table we got an email stating that their Easter Sunday menu was a brunch buffet with beef, salmon and more for $17.99. We were surprised when we were seated to discover that the buffet was set up several rooms away and down a long hall from where we were seated. We were also surprised to discover that while the brunch included many meats there were few vegetable dishes and no salad. But the biggest surprise was when we received the check and discovered that instead of $17.99 we were charged $24.99 each. We showed our email to our server and he told us that this was last year's price and there had been a big increase for this year. He promised to show our email to a manager, but we got no response from a manager.
