Love and Salt
Love and Salt is a philosophy: that food needs only two ingredients to be great. It’s a sensibility that informs the feeling in the restaurant and the dishes on the menu — Italian-inspired with Southern California soul. An approachable wine list and classic cocktail program similarly reflect the vibrant SoCal setting of the restaurant, located just steps from the Manhattan Beach pier.

We eat at Love & Salt every time we have to take someone to or pick someone up from the LAX Airport since they're so close. Love this place! Food is always delicious. Service always great. It was on the quiet side Friday night because of Coronavirus. It was pretty much the last night you could eat in a restaurant. Highly recommend!
Great food and service.
I generally love the food at Love and Salt. During this visit I was quite disappointed in the toasted Cauliflower. It seemed almost raw and lacked flavor. Would not recommend it.
I like the ambience of the restaurant but the seating is sooo close that nearby conversations were quite disruptive. I could hear every word. And I could not get out of my seat without bumping the person behind me. That feels too close. Our chairs had approximately 2 inches from the back of one to the other.
Great inventive and classic cocktails with full bar, pasta was served undercooked although usually it is perfect. Pizza is good - served with thicker wood oven style fluffier crust. Meats are great quality. Appetizer list has something for everyone. Favorite dinner dishes - meatballs (served with bread and great sauce), both squashes (the kabocha is more of a cheese dish), mussels, steak, bolognese (pasta), pappardelle (pasta), Creste Di Gallo Midollo, Krikorian South (pizza - my favorite), Duck Egg (pizza). Favorite drinks = High Tea, Hachiya, Comeback Kid, Lady in the ballroom (refreshing), Yokohama Silk, Jimmy Conway.
Had brunch with a friend and although I found the restaurant to be loud, the food more than made up for it. The pancake with pear butter was delicious and my favorite!
Menu online said gluten free options and when we got there they handed us a normal menu that basically 'X' out all of the items that had gluten and then said 'No Toast' on a few items. Because I can't do gluten, that provided VERY limited options. Misleading that online it says gluten free options available. That normally means that there is a menu of provided options not just everything on the menu without gluten or the very few options available.
Also, for people with dietary restrcitions it was a joke since couldn't edit ANY item on the menu. For example, my friend has a severe allergy to onions/shallots - since no dressing substitute had no shallots this provided pretty much no option to eat much. We both (I with gluten allergy and her with gluten and onion allergy) left super hungry.
The food was fabulous but the noise level was so painful that we will NEVER return.
Though we really like the food, the noise level is getting worse and we will have second thoughts about returning.
Meat heavy with not too many great main options for vegetarian or vegan. Food felt a bit heavy or overly flavored. Great service & attention.
Love & Salt is always fantastic. Food, service, and ambiance never disappoint. Note that at prime time the noise levels can get high, but not so much that it's a deal-breaker. The roasted chicken with grilled bread is perfect. The kale salad, meatballs, any pizza and the pasta with bone marrow is not to be believed!
Delicious, different food. Never thought chicken could taste so good! Yummy Nutella beignet.
The place is very nice. Beautiful people and ambiance. The food was quite disappointing. Extremely small plate and the taste was not good at all.
We loved the pizza and pasta
Wine was good but too expensive for the glass I guess it’s Manhattan beach so they charge nyc prices
Love going here because the food is fantastic and the staff are super!
Service is always good. I typically like the food, but they recently changed the menu - it was ok.
Absolutely minuscule pasta portions. Horrible value.
Food was fantastic. Ambiance at brunch was upbeat but also much calmer than in the evening. Seating was comfortable. Server was attentive but not overbearing and very sweet with our kids. We have a 7 and 5 year old, and they really liked the food and were quite happy throughout the meal. Drinks are also a standout, especially the Yokohama Silk.
Very loud , tables to close together , food ok,wine over priced . Don’t think we’ll be back.
Quite disappointing. Noise level extremely uncomfortable, not energetic. Food poor, fair at best. Seafood pasta dish lacked fish as stated on menu and muscles/clams barely fresh. Butternut squash appetizer did not come close to servers recommendation. And octopus appetizer marginal. Rum raisin pudding dessert Wes excellent.
The food is SO GOOD. Server was amazing. The appetizers came out quickly but then it was 20-30 minutes before the main course so that was a little rough but hopefully that’s not a normal thing. Even if it is the food is totally worth it and somehow the bill seemed very reasonable at the end!
Love this restaurant! The food is amazing and the service is great!
Great place for a meal where you want to be able to hear over the din of the music and crowd, and enjoy delicious food.
I believe this is now one of my new favorite restaurants in South Bay. It’s the perfect overrall restaurant....not too flashy or overly stuffy, good food and friendly staff. Nash the restaurant manager was on top of it all and we loved and appreciated the amazing service the staff provided.
