Love and Salt
Love and Salt is a philosophy: that food needs only two ingredients to be great. It’s a sensibility that informs the feeling in the restaurant and the dishes on the menu — Italian-inspired with Southern California soul. An approachable wine list and classic cocktail program similarly reflect the vibrant SoCal setting of the restaurant, located just steps from the Manhattan Beach pier.
Really enjoyed the food, drinks and dessert. Service was great. The tables are very close to each other and the chairs are uncomfortable. But we still really enjoyed our dinner.
The food was exceptional - especially the Kale Salad. And the service was spot on!
Started with the Burrata and Stone fruit - outstanding. My husband had the octopus salad. If you love octopus highly recommend this dish. Then we had two pastas. One was cacio e peppe. The other had bone marrow. Get the bone marrow. It’s to die for. It is noisy in there and not well lit so don’t take grandpa, he won’t be able to hear or see but for excellent food and service go see it
This is our neighborhood go to for a good meal. Never disappoints.
A good meal and our server was excellent! It is noisy in there and hard to have conversation but I do love this place!
LOVE this restaurant!!! Some of the best food I've ever had.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary by dining at Love and Salt, and it did not disappoint. First, we had grilled octopus salad, followed by roasted cauliflower with an aioli sauce. Then, we had ribeye steak and branzino for our entrees. We finished with strawberry gelato. Everything was top notch. Excellent in every way!
I have been to this restaurant twice before and had good experiences, but this last visit was very disappointing. I went with some overseas friends who frequently travel and eat out. First, we were offered the worst seating in chairs that are an awkward height, despite having reservations and on a les busy Sunday evening. The hostess begrudgingly agreed to move us. The food came out lukewarm and flavor just wasn’t there. It’s like the kitchen had taken the night off. We ordered an appetizer, two pastas and roast chicken along with a couple of carafes of overpriced chardonnay. The best thing about the meal was the pricey Chardonnay. In my book, that says it all!
The bartender makes the best drinks and the food it’s very good with a great selection ! They just need to work on their waitresses and waiters they don’t seem to check on you very often and when you need something they’re nowhere to be found. I’m glad they changed their stools to chairs also.
Always a favorite and they never disappoint! The food and service is superb.
Great food and drink. Cozy hospitality service. Hidden Gems in Manhattan beach.
Amazing service, fantastic food, great wine list, and original takes on old school Italian favorites
The rigatoni was a little over cooked which was disappointing but the gnocchi and pizza with honey were delicious. We even had two orders of the brown sugar pudding - don’t skip dessert!
Great time, great food, really a good experience. Will go again.
Great food and drinks and lovely service. So loud though!
The food is amazing and the service was top notch. My only reservation was that it's super loud inside the restaurant is extremely loud and you can barely even hear the person sitting next to you. But if you aren't concerned with conversation, it's a definite spot to check out!
Food is so unique and delicious! The restaurant itself is inviting albeit a bit loud.
We ordered the short rib pasta, rib eye, kids cheese pizza, and the love and salt red blend wine. The short rib pasta was kind of watery and didn’t have a lot of flavor. The rib eye was 5 small slices and ok in taste but the potatoes were amazing! The “kids” pizza is really a regular sized pizza that they don’t tell you is a regular sized pizza and is $18! The crust was very flimsy and the cheese didn’t really melt so it just slid off the pizza. The best part of our dinner was the wine. The flavor was amazing. If anything I would only come back here for drinks.
We went to Love and Salt for our anniversary. Nice menu. Tasty food!
The noise level was way to high. Hard to have a conversation.
Thank you Chris
Thank you Nash
The noise was way too loud to hear my partner across the small table. Horrible if you are on a date! We had to send the chicken back because it was extremely salty- the waitress said that sometimes happens! I’m not going back.
Everything is so delicious!! We came back the next day for the Freekeh-licious salad and the Cesar Broccolini. The Stone Fruit and Burrata was more like a dessert than an appetizer.... Amazing!
Nothing creative or innovative food wise. Service is good, food is definitely not aligned with $$$$. Ambience is nice. I haven’t tried the pizza there, however.
The space is tight and it bristles with energy. It's loud inside, so be ready to speak with punch. That said, the food is delightful. Flavors are simple but clean and very deep. The basic margherita pizza has a sharp tangy tomato sauce. The fennel sausage in the trotolle salsiccia doesn't overplay the seasoning, and the cacio e pepe has good pepper-y punch. The lobster mushrooms in the gnocchi al funghi have a firm bite and man, are they tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal experience.
Food was so delicious I was ready to go back the following night and eat the same thing again
This is our special occasion restaurant and we love it!
Lovely meal. Consistently good food. Nice menu adds. A favorite neighborhood hot spot.
Our first visit. Really enjoyed the food, the place and vibe. Definite addition to our go to list
Really great experience all around. Great people, great food, and super kid friendly -- we'll definitely be back!
The service was outstanding. The food was exceptionally good. The room is tightly packed and very loud, but it is worth it for the food. And that hard-working tremendous staff cancel out the noise.
I will absolutely recommend this restaurant and return as well.
Shout out to the Michelin guide for its recommendation.
Pizza is Ok, but very salty. When they have salt in their name they aren't kidding. I added one ingredient to the margarita pizza ( 18.00) which was mushrooms and they added 8.00 for a few mushrooms.
The rigatoni was undercooked and the sauce had a bad taste, returned it. Was awful.
Mushroom pizza , the cheese is too overpowering and rich.
Bill was way too expensive for two pizzas , salad and one glass of wine for 100.00.
Not worth that amount of money for pizza.
All the food that kept coming out kept getting better and better! Super glad that she mentioned the plates were shareable, cause it encouraged us to share...and oh man - everything was delicious! Def. recommend!
Bone Marrow Pasta and Brown Sugar Pudding is a MUST! definitely coming back. they also comped one of the desserts for a birthday.
Menu today is not as creative or good as it was under old chef
Seems like they dummied down the menu
Service staff was exceptional
wine list on the higher end is now dismal
I always like love and salt because of its unique vegan and vegetarian options as well as their eclectic cocktail menu. Corey our server was amazing, very knowledgeable about the menu. I'll be back
always a wonderful place to eat...love their bone marrow pasta!
The food was very good. We went there because they offer many gluten free options. Turns out, however, that the gluten free pasta and many of the gluten free options are boioed or fried in the same pans as the regular pasta. So although they have lots of options, if you are sensitive then you still cannot eat the dishes. Not sure why they cook it in the same water/oil
The rest of the food however was very good. My wife and daughter werev severely limited in the choices. My advice: if you are truly gluten free, this is not a great option
