Love & Salt is the upscale, but cool, Italian spot Manhattan Beach needed.
Food, drinks and service are great. Noise level is off the charts when it's crowded. You have to yell to be heard.
A great Manhattan Beach bar restaurant for locals and visitors to the city. plenty of parking (metered) on the street walking distance to the restaurant. The hostess was very friendly when I arrived. the bartender was very nice and attentive. Food selection was very good and creative.
Great beverage selection as well.
If you don’t mind rap blasting at 5 pm on a Sunday. Motherf*cker was said at least 5 times. Our complaints to the waiter was answered with the owner wants a that vibe. We will be back if and when they play music more suitable for the clientele. Food was good and our server was great but having my kids say swear words on the way Home was not worth it.
Always have a Great time and great meal at Love & Salt.
And I also enjoy bringing new people in to try their wonderful food.
Love this spot! Good food and yummy cocktails!
Love & Salt was DELICIOUS! Everything was superb. We will be back!
Good when looking something different for brunch.
The eggs menu if very limited.
The baked eggs is pretty good with a little hot/spice added.
The ricotta pancakes are well thought as receipt but all those who asked it on my table got them undercooked.
The duck egg pie does not say it comes with a raw egg on top. I was praying it was organic...
Orange juice is very tasty.
The empty dishes served as first smelled eggyish. :(
I wonder if they use soap or just hot water to do dishes
Chef Michael is amazing. Best burger in Manhattan beach! If you’re there for brunch the lemon ricotta pancakes are a must have. The pizzas are so good!
I have no words. Our night at Love and Salt was everything and more! From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. We arrived 30 minutes early, received a warm greeting and were shown to a table 10 minutes later. The place was packed, but a group left as we were arriving.
We had a little bit of everything and everything was delicious! Homemade English Muffins, Local Peas & Burrata, Shaved Black Kale, Spaghettini and Duck Egg Pie. Yes, that happened! Anyone who loves good food and appreciates genuine hospitality will love it here. It is clear that this team loves and enjoys what they do. And what they do is provide an amazing experience from start to finish.
The restaurant and food is amazing but the receptionist or hostess is enough to turn you off from the entire restaurant! Hopefully you can make it past the hostess to enjoy everything that the restaurant has to offer.
Food was delicious. Excellent cocktail and wine list. Enjoyed the ambiance and the restaurant played great music. Wait staff was a little bit cold, server lacked personality but overall service was very efficient and food arrived in a timely manner. Overall good experience, I will definitely return.
Excellent service. All four small plates were tasty. Recommended.
yum she tasted great
Awesome food and ambiance as always! Don't miss the English muffins!!
Great gluten free options.
Nice area/location and the service was good. Although the menu is small all of the food was very good. One thing that I wasn't prepared for was the noise level; very loud and difficult to hold a conversation with our party of 5. If you want a quiet spot, this isn't the right place.
It was awesome! Food was great, the ambiance was chill. Looking forward to another dinner.
So glad I booked this place for my mom's 70th birthday...because my dad paid for it and I didn't waste $200 on what amounted to a bunch of typical appetizers. I booked this because it had some really good professional reviews. Don't ask me why. I should have changed course when I ordered an old fashioned before being seated, gave the guy a $20, and he handed me a receipt for $19.67. Are you effing kidding me? $20 for a cocktail? Not wanting to upset a special occasion, I gave the bartender another $2.00 and moved on.
At the table, the menu was INSANELY priced and nothing seemed innovative, original, or different. And after seeing the tiny plates (we got the "we encourage sharing a wide variety of plates" sales pitch) being served at other tables, I realized we had been duped. But, I bit my tongue and suggested we order a few things to see how it might go. We ordererd:
1) Burrata with Peas ($15) - salty and boring. Yay, salted peas laid over a tiny burrata the size of a golf ball.
2) Grilled Lamb Sirloin ($24) - was pretty good...for a $24 appetizer.
3) Endive Salad ($16) - Maybe 2 whole endive, separated and layered in a bowl with caesar dressing. Tasted good, but it was a freaking caesar salad!
4) Papardelle ($20) - Lamb bolognese. No taste of lamb. Boring.
By this time I couldn't control myself and said we need to leave and finish dinner somewhere else. But before we did, we took a bet on how much a Jack & Coke would cost. I guessed right at $12...for a Jack & Coke, which which jiggered, by the way. In case you didn't know, a bottle of Jack is $0.99 more than that entire drink. Add 2 other drinks and the bill was $200. Insane.
We finished at Itsakaya, which saved the night.
Love & Salt is exemplary of how most restaurants in MB were years ago. Very average food. Insanely high prices. Yet, people still go. I thought this kind of place died when David LaFevre came in and started making great food at "worth it" prices.
I can't discourage this place enough.
I was not very impressed by the quality of the experience and our table was too tiny for two.
The bone marrow pasta - amazing! Service so cheerful and friendly
Always a great meal. Try the Black Kale salad - crunchy and fresh, the gnocchi- buttery and rich and the skirt steak- delicious! And i tried a cosmo cocktail here - they make it with pomegranate instead of cranberry! My new fav!
Great birthday dinner. Brown sugar pudding was mind blowing.
All of the food was delicious. We really loved the meatballs to start. The fennel salad was a delight. We tried 2 of the pizzas and both were delicious. If you're a gnocchi fan, you'll love the gnocchi here. Our host who is a wine lover raved about the wine list. We had three bottles. All amazing.
This restaurant is way too noisy. It is almost impossible to hear the servers or your dinner companions
Food was good and original. Service was outstanding. But the noise level is out of hand. We could barely hear each other from across the table. It didn't help that we had an obnoxious group next to us.And the tables are very tightly packed. So you are basically sitting with the table next to you. Seems to be the place where 20-30 somethings like to go in groups and be raucous/loud over dinner.
Crazy busy fun place! And here's why: Fantastic food, great cocktails and wine list, and really knowledgeable servers! If you haven't been here yet, it's one of the best restaurants in the South Bay area!
My wife and i went here for a "Date Night" and had a spectacular meal. The food is rich, but delicious. I would highly recommend the meat balls and bone marrow pasta.
Everything is meant to be shared. We had the endive salad. If you like anchovies you will love the salad. My husband orders octopus whenever it is on the menu. The octupus was grilled with a nice char. He said it was one of the best he has had. We then split the steak. Served over cripy potatoes and creme fraiche. So good!
This is my fav brunch spot! I always have a wonderful meal and lovely time. They could turn the music down just a bit, but other than that 10/10! :)
My birthday dinner wasn’t great due to our servers lack of attention. I said I was gluten free (allergy) and she continued to serve items that were clearly not OK. I don’t expect all servers to keep up with all allergens in this day and age, but her ignorance (she could have asked me necessary questions, or double-check with the chef) was NOT cool.
Pretty sure this is the first written review I’ve given in any type of channel but I felt this strongly to submit.
The loudest restaurant I've ever been in in my life. My ears are still ringing. Could not hear a word said at my table without screaming repetitions. So sad as I was seeing old friends who were passing through town.
Service was not great -- at one point we waited for 20 minutes for someone to stop by. Server had an 'attitude' as well, although front people were super-nice. Food, nothing we loved or worth remarking on.
Everything was excusable but the noise, though. The noise level ruined the evening.
Incredible restaurant! Great food, great environment!! Definitely a must! We’ll be back.
Love this resturaunt! I have never been disappointed...all the food is excellent.
First time there. Creative, good, friendly, hip. Also loud, and as much as the deal is many small plates to be shared, still the mall plates seemed a bit small. Would definitely go again.
Love and Salt is one of my west side favorites! I always take friends visiting LA or use this spot as an excuse to head to the beach afterwards. The food is always delicious and the menu has a wide variety of options for every palate. I love how cozy the decor is and how we can always grab a reservation, even at the last minute! Definitely give this place a try. PS. The bacon is to die for!
Simply outstanding! I can’t wait to get back to Love and Salt.
Food was not great! Not everyone loves parm cheese! Wierd flavors with a very high price.
Miss Cafe Pierre.
Simply great food and great service.
Food was ok. Given the noise level and the crowded space it was not worth the price. It was a poor dining experience.
