Everything was fine, except the food (the most important ingredient in judging a restaurant).
I ordered the croque madame, eager to experience a delicate taste of French cuisine.
Instead, I received the saltiest, slimiest ham sandwich imaginable.
While it wasn’t inedible (I was hungry and I ate it), it wasn’t enjoyable.
I recommend sending the chef to Hectors in Kirkland for a sample of a delicious and authentic croque madame....or take it off the menu entirely.
Was great. Service excellent and the food (capital oysters and scallops) was worth ordering again for sure. We are from out of town and did not dress up( limited clothing packed) That did not affect the treatment we received. That’s class.
We arrived early but were sat right away. I changed reservation time three times in an hour because my husband’s ship was delayed but they accommodated with patience when they could.
This is a very nice restaurant with delicious food. The service is excellent and it is a great place to take business visitors without being ridiculously expensive. It seems to hit a good balance between a nice place to eat for friends and a good location for business lunches.
This is my go-to restaurant for a late supper, when I fly in from the Bay area and stay at the Sheraton. I always have a green salad and the bouillabaise, which is delicious. However, the rouille that was spread on the piece of bread was too spicy/hot for me this time... so I asked for just regular bread and butter. 2 glasses of Sancerre with my meal hit the spot. The novel I was reading was set in a Paris bistro, so my meal and book transported me :)
Food is Beautifully presented and creative but some in our group ordered the scallops ...you get 3 scallops as an entree dish ...for $38, they were disappointed, I had the trout, which was a whole fish and really delish! The desserts are tichy teeny too, fine if you are expecting just a taste but I envisaged cheese cake and got dots of cheese cake, and I had agreed to split it with a friend! One dot each? I will go again for the experience but I won’t go there hungry.
While the ambience was pleasant and the staff very friendly and efficient, the real star here is the food. Everything my husband and I ate was excellent. I started with the crab beignets appetizer -- perfectly crisp and full of crab with a slightly spicy aoli. He had the pear salad which was a fabulous blend of texture and flavors. Entrees were the trout almandine and the roasted chicken. Unlike many almandine recipes, this one actually had plenty of almonds. And the roast chicken was as perfect as a roast chicken can be -- moist, tender meat with perfectly crisp skin. Dessert was the chocolate torte which was really more mousse-like than torte-like but still light and delicious. We will definitely look for an excuse to come back again.
Great place for any occasion. Food slightly on the American side of French-American cross-over. If you want a quieter scene, such as for a 1:1 date or business meal, ask for a table upstairs. If you want a vibrant scene with great food, the downstairs bar or high tables are best.
Went to Loulay with the family for brunch. Menu was fairy limited though that’s not unique for Seattle restaurants. Ambience/layout of restaurant is nice. Food leaves a lot to be desired. Our eggs benedict came cold - eggs were overdone, the bernaise sauce already congealing, the muffins they were on barely toasted and cold. Even the potatoes were a little mushy and tepid.
When letting the wait staff know, they gave a half-hearted “Oh no” but nothing else - no apology, no offer to redo, or take off the bill. We weren’t expecting free food, but maybe actually showing concern and an attempt to make it right would show that your customers actually mattered.
Fairly unispiring especially for the inflated price. Definitely would not suggest this place for a meal unless you have a craving for duck egg which seemed to be a part of every dish.
With so many places to get a fresh, well-prepared meal served by attentive staff in Seattle, you can definitley give Loulay a pass.
Excellent food. Sommelier provides great insight into the wines. Service was great as team walked us through the menu and our dishes. The food was superb — the trout was amazing and the scallops perfectly seared. Glad we went here to celebrate an anniversary.
Great presentation and knowledgeable staff, it was an amazing dining experience. I love the ambiance there, but if you sit on the third floor you miss out on that, unless you're in just one of the tables up there. So, if that's important to you, I'd request a table on the first or second levels.
Nice brunch menu...attentive but reserved and conscientious service. Food was good but nothing "special" ....but well prepared as requested...(eggs poached easy)...I think a touch pricey...but this is downtown SEA and the restaurant is attached to the Sheraton Hotel.
Food is always going to be good. Chef Thierry won’t let you down. Ever. Definitely want a booth. Haven’t tried seating upstairs yet. But tables are tightly packed and can lead to rather unscenic views. Prices are a tad higher than his other location but it is downtown so expect to pay more.
Had dinner with a friend before a show and selected Loulay based on OpenTable reviews. The atmosphere and ambiance was really nice (we had a booth). The food was excellent. However our server [name withheld] should have been more attentive -- or at least as attentive as he seemed to be with the "regulars." Neither my friend or I drink which seemed to dampen the enthusiasm. Several times he walked by while I had to refill my glass with the sparkling water I had ordered. When it came to ordering desert we waited for some time and he never returned. Another waiter saw me looking around and came to assist. He actually took and fulfilled our desert order and he got us our check.
