Best food in Seattle
The most overrated restaurant in Seattle. The 4 course Valentine's tasting was far below worth the $100 price. Fine dining needs more than a nice plate to work, and Loulay falls short in taste and quality.
I have been going to Thierry Rautureau's restaurants since the early 90s and as a vegetarian I have always enjoyed the exquisite food he offers. But as my husband said "you don't get the best from a restaurant on Valentine's Day" and that was the case on our last visit to Loulay. The vegetarian prix fixe offering was uneven - starting with discs of bland beets, then on to a delicious mushroom ravioli, followed by tough vegetables that I could barely cut with my knife accompanied by a tasty savory mousse and a delicious sauce.
Carrots from the first course and beignets from the dessert menu, were the highlights for us! Exceptional service!
Super tasty food. Attentive hosts. Not rushed. From out of town but wish we had one in CA!
LouLay is always a wonderful experience. Our server is always phenomenal, as is the food. Of course it would be nice if the meal was less expensive, but the experience is worth the cost.
Fantastic food and service
Food was not very good and the portion was small especially for the price.
This was a special birthday lunch, and Loulay did not disappoint. The food was amazing...the best we have had since we were in France last summer. The service was perfect--we knew we were being taken care of but it was subtle. We had a great time.
Terrific quality food, nice cocktail, attentive but not pushy service
I don’t know where to being. Everything from A to Z was fantastic. This was our first time here and I was celebrating my 30th birthday. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic! The food though, oh my goodness the food! It was absolutely delicious. It was my first time having duck and I was NOT disappointed! The ambiance was great, the lighting, the little extra added touches. It was all phenomenal. We will definitely be back again! Thank you.
Great place for a date. We had a noisy table next to us; but that was OK. Will return again.
Wonderful fine dining with attentive and considerate service
Lovely evening out. Every dish exceeded expectations. The chef has some marvelous techniques for preparing uncommon vegetables in support of the mains. The synergy was fabulous.
As always, the experience at Loulay is second to none. Exceptional food, amazing service and an overall great time!
I have been to Loulay several times and have always had amazing food and amazing service. And in this most recent night out, I took several family members with food allergies and varying levels of pickiness...... they were all pleasantly surprised and impressed with the food and service! One of my favorite places in Seattle for sure!!
Delicious food and super service
Ok wine list, and good advice from the sommelier
Food was great, but our waiter had a bit of an attitude.
Date night before a concert. Absolutely perfect.
Great food and decor!
Loulay always has wonderful service and amazing food. Perfect spot for a relaxing Sunday brunch downtown.
Had a spectacular brunch - beignets, smoked salmon and buckwheat crepes and an elegant butternut squash and kale quiche. All cooked to perfection and catered to by a charming server. The space itself reminds me of something a little more European and a little less Seattle which was wonderful.
After the shooting in Seattle on 1/22 we had to cancel our plans for a full team event and had to stay at hotel for the night. I immediately went to Open Table to see if Loulay had openings and they did. It was a little hectic around downtown and chef and team took care of our table and many more from our team for the night.
I had a miserable experience at Loulay. I went there for my wife and my 13th anniversary. It was quite pleasant at first; we got seated immediately, took our order quickly, and appetizers came out very shortly. But then nothing after that was pleasant. The waiter for the table next to us was wearing very strong cologne that my wife was allergic to, so between that and the extremely high noise level, she had a migraine about a half hour in. Our waiter kept telling us the food would be out in a couple minutes, over and over, through the course of the next half hour. An hour after our appetizers, the main course was finally ready, but by then my wife was feeling quite ill, and we would not have time to leisurely enjoy the food before our babysitting time ran out. I asked to get it boxed up to take home. They boxed it poorly, not closing my wife's box all the way, so when we got home, she had to eat her risotto scraped off the bottom of my to-go container. This meal was the biggest waste of $100 I have had.
Loulay is always superb and an excellent choice for a special celebration. Wonderful food, sustainably sourced, outstanding service, sophisticated interior (loft is best) and very importantly, a relatively quiet atmosphere - so rare in Seattle!
We went for brunch and enjoyed our meals. Serving size was just right for us. The seasonal mimosas were amazing!
My birthday brunch was fabulous!
Great staff, awesome food in the heart of Seattle
I am a regular patron at LUC and love the staff. Our water at Loulay was just horrible. Forgot one of our entrees so we reminded him. 20 minutes later we had to ask again. Still took another 10 minutes to get it. He seldom ever acknowledged us or asked how things were. We had to wait at least 15 minutes to ask for our check and that took me getting out of our booth and stopping him during one of his many walk by’s in which he would never make eye contact. It was just awful. I won’t be back.
Waiter forgot a candle in the birthday dessert despite multiple reminders, and didn’t even comp up for one of the desserts. I expected better.
