Loulay is always superb and an excellent choice for a special celebration. Wonderful food, sustainably sourced, outstanding service, sophisticated interior (loft is best) and very importantly, a relatively quiet atmosphere - so rare in Seattle!
We went for brunch and enjoyed our meals. Serving size was just right for us. The seasonal mimosas were amazing!
My birthday brunch was fabulous!
Great staff, awesome food in the heart of Seattle
I am a regular patron at LUC and love the staff. Our water at Loulay was just horrible. Forgot one of our entrees so we reminded him. 20 minutes later we had to ask again. Still took another 10 minutes to get it. He seldom ever acknowledged us or asked how things were. We had to wait at least 15 minutes to ask for our check and that took me getting out of our booth and stopping him during one of his many walk by’s in which he would never make eye contact. It was just awful. I won’t be back.
My steak was perfect. Nice grilled flavor, excellent gravy, and the sauce was subtle rather than taking over the dish. I will be back to sample a larger portion of the menu.
After my meal, I headed downstairs to the bar and had a couple of well-crafted drinks. A special coffee martini was just what I needed, and the house - Pleasing Paris - cocktail was a nice pairing with their sorbet dessert.
I will be seeking out other restaurants from this chef, as well as returning to Loulay.
I would recommend to a friend, and I will tell them NOT to order the burger.
I always enjoy Loulay. I was not able to give a 5 this time for the chicken and beignets but my dining partner chose the risotto and the sorbet which were both outstanding. The wine recommendations were also very good. Still one of my favorite dining sports downtown.
After many excellent experiences, this was my first disappointing visit. We were seated on the balcony and service was slow and sporadic. The lunch entrees arrived lukewarm. My seafood stew consisted of about half a dozen very small clams and three or four very small pieces of very bland white fish, in addition to diced potatoes. The aoli crouton was stale and bland. My guest's mushroom and gnocchi dish had very nice flavors, but was a bit stale.
One of my favorite restaurants !
This was our first visit to Loulay. While the ambience was nice and service very good (including a brief visit from the chef/owner), all of our dishes were too heavy on the salt. The only dish we had that I can recommend are the crab fritters.
Excellent service and food. Chef stopped by and said hi to us. Will definitely be back and tell our friends.
Great food, great service, great ambiance.
The food and the service were awesome, as usual. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone. We went on Saturday, consequently the brunch option was new to us. We all enjoyed our meal.
Holiday brunch with all ages. Staff was willing and able to work with pre-K & K chantilly cream dreams - and adult hopes for correct temp proteins. Not an easy feat - but possible when working with pros.
We got all that + all the beverages we wanted + full waters. Keep up the great work! Hold the bar high - we’ll keep coming back for the enjoyment and to continue to build palates.
Great food, incredible service. My wife has celiac disease as well as a sensitivity to aliums, making it difficult for us to eat in restaurants. Our server, Ashley, was on top of it, checked with the chef and made sure that my wife did not get any gluten (even cross-contamination) and helped us work out a safe menu. All of the staff understand the importance of food allergies, as every one who brought a course out to my wife affirmatively said "there is no gluten in this dish" so we were able to completely relax and enjoy the meal, knowing that no gluten mistakes were being made. In addition, we were going to a play at the Paramount and Ashley made sure that we had plenty of time and never had to rush. And the meal was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant, with or without food allergies.
Another wonderful dinner at Loulay! Great service, delicious food. The scallops were to die for. Expensive though.
Pre-theatre dinner with reservations for 5 pm. We arrived about 5 minutes early and were told dining room not open until 5. No place to sit and wait and greeter did not suggest we sit at bar, just gave us a dirty look for grabbing a stool at unset table near the bar. Husband has a bad back and cannot stand around. We were seated at about 5:04 as by then people lining up for the empty tables to make their 5 pm reservations and we waited our turn. None of this left a great first impression. That said , once seated our server was five-stars all the way. Totally first class, and scallops, hangar steak, salad, drinks, wine, dessert.... all spot on. First visit back since Days of Rovers and only suggestion is for restaurant to figure out how to handle the “opening” of the dining room.
Fabulous food Great Service
Will definitely be back
.... beautifully presented dishes from the first until the AMAZING desserts- I HIGHLY recommend dining with “the chef with the hat” !!
New Year's Eve... The service was a little slow; but the food was worth the wait. Everything was prepared with the utmost attention; and the flavors all worked with each other to perfection. I had the Entrement for dessert--it was good, but the weakest dish of my night--others at our table raved about their desserts. The wait staff was attentive and accommodating--there was a lactose intolerant person at our table--and between our waiter and the kitchen, delicious modifications were made to the dishes as needed. Wonderful!
We've been to Loulay several times, including celebrating both 2018 and 2019 New Year's Eve. It never fails to be an excellent meal, from start to finish (including the wine choices). The atmosphere is fun, lively without being exceptionally noisy, and the food (!), well, the piece de resistance. The prix fixe menus on special occasions (e.g. New Year's Eve) have been outstanding. And the service is both attentive and not intrusive. Merci, Thierry and staff.
Loulay for New Year's eve was quite a treat. We've been there previously and thought it was always solid, but the food offerings were spectacular this time - very sophisticated and complex courses, all with their own unexpected flavors. Each courses was not overly filling, leaving plenty of room to indulge in dessert. Nice job on a festive night.
Great food and service. The building is bright and packed tight with patrons but the volume levels aren't overwhelming.
Loulay is an AMAZING restaurant with EXCEPTIONAL food!! The owner Thierry Rautureau spent time discussing the meal and how he came up with some of his signature dishes. Would recommend this place many times over.
Thank you for another amazing dinner! Everything was perfect. Wonderful food and service.
Quite possibly the best meal I’ve ever had in my life!! The staff was gracious, the service was prompt and the food was delicious! My family and I will certainly be returning!
Family visiting. This was our 4-5th time at Loulay. We’ve sat in the booths the last two times & had the same server and he’s amazing. Always treating us with respect and kindness.
It was just ok nothing to wryhome about probably won’t go back
