   Misleading option of outdoor seating when making reservation. Arrived to be told patio seating is first-come-first-served & no patio seating available. Eventually got patio table but know there’s no guarantee.

   Louie’s always has great food and service. Especially if you have gluten issues. They have lots of options and are great about avoiding cross contamination and have dedicated fryers.

   Went for Mother's Day brunch. Seated immediately at reserved time. Fun menu with all the basics but also some tasty, more unique options. We had crab cake benedict, chicken and waffles, with beignets to start. Full bar. Excellent service by our server who offered great recommendations for our meal. We will be back for more meals and drinks.

   Really overpriced and mediocre food. Wine prices were appallingly high. Spotty service. Not the most fantastic location. Calories were consumed, the company was great, but otherwise a forgettable experience. Will not return.

   We met up with old friends. Our server was over eager or trying to get us out of there. I have sons in the service industry so I compare other servers to them. He was at our table too often. 4 times within 10 minutes wanting us to order. We were catching up. We arrived at 5:30 and were gone by 7:15. Don’t think we stayed too long.

    Very unimpressed by Louie’s Wine Dive, we waited 30 minutes before getting to order then another 45 for our food and then had to flag our server down to order dessert which then took 30 minutes. The employee at the bar didn’t have good customer service and basically told us oh well about our experience. The food was very bland with little flavor, cocktail was 90% alcohol making it hard to enjoy. The most flavorful item was the ranch. We will not be back. Positives is the live jazz music playing.

    We loved the live music - just the right volume to listen and have a conversation. Only complaint was that the fries were really small in length, too salty and cold. Service was excellent.

    I’ve always enjoyed the food when dining out with friends. This time it was date night with my husband. He’s a vegetarian so options were limited for him but he really enjoyed his mixed green side salad and the Tortellini. The apple harvest side salad and the Spicy Shrimp Diablo that I had were wonderful. We really appreciate that reservations can be made for two since it was really busy on a Saturday evening and we were on our way to a concert after. Another great offering is happy hour, even on Saturday. We arrived just in time to take advantage of a discount on our bottle of wine, putting the price more in line with other restaurants in the area.

    I can always count on fine food and friendly service here! I love that I can utilize reservations especially when I am on my way to a production at the Des Moines Playhouse or an event at Drake.

    The best food in the area! Wine selection above average! Bartender mixed perfect drinks- we picked this venue because of its location and it was perfect! Wide variety of choices and the food was excellent. Five stars for sure!

    seated promptly-we had reservations. Waitress joined us quickly, gave us time to read the menu. Food arrived quickly, good presentation although I think that mine could have been a little warmer. And my companion had to ask for ketchup for her potatoes. The mocktail I had was divine

    Ordered tea and had a very sad selection of old tea (pumpkin spice in March?!). My salmon Benedict was cooked well. Boyfriend’s breakfast potatoes were dry and overcooked or had been sitting a long time.

    A family night was well spent at Louie’s. We went for the music and the atmosphere for a new experience for the family. We left with very full bellies and a new family favorite! The “best shrimp and grits in DSM”, a new favorite burger, tortellini that took seconds to be recognized as a new favorite, and a steak cooked to perfection. Could not leave without dessert and we were not disappointed with the beignets and tort, just sad it didn’t last long! Cannot wait for our next night out.

    Sat us right away after we’d been turned away from three other places. Server was absolutely delightful. Drinks were just right. Dinner was so so delicious. Should have just gone there first. Always a great time at Louie’s.

    Shannon assisted our table this evening and she was amazing. Very attentive to our needs and table vibe. The food was amazing. I was being a smarta$$ and said I wanted guacamole which wasn’t on the evenings menu but they still brought some to the table and it was by far the best guacamole I’ve had in DSM. Thanks for a great evening and we will definitely be back and hope to have Shannon take care of us again.

    We went on Saturday, 2/18 and the only menu was left over from Valentine's day. I say that because our server actually said they were trying to get rid of the leftovers from Valentines? Not a great way to start. Food was just okay....nothing had much flavor. Got the brussel sprouts, chicken piccada and the fish and chips. All were pretty uneventful and just so-so for flavor. Disappointing dinner for $70. Unfortunately, we likely will not return.

    This is the spot. Cheap enough for a 'fancy' night out for the Drake kids, frou frou enough for a meal with your classy Aunt, and homey-yet-open enough for a first date. Been for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and can't quite recall a meal that didn't hit the spot. There's wine. They must treat the staff well, because they've stuck around long enough that you'll start recognizing them on multiple visits. Don't let the strip-mall location and shared grocery store parking lot fool you - check out Louie's Wine Dive.
