Louie's Oyster Bar Ratings and Reviews
Louie's is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Seafood is amazing and the dishes never disappoint. The waitstaff are accommodating, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We have come here many times with our young son, on date nights and out with friends and every time, I say how much I love it there. Sit outside for a truly awesome sunset and you will be transported to a vacation mindset before you even finish your appetizer.
Louie's new chef has done a great job with the menu. Food is great and sitting right on Manhasset Bay is amazing. We spent a relaxing lunch there on a Monday. The ambiance was lovely and we had excellent service!! We split the whole branzino between the two of us and it was amazing. The menu is broad and there is something for just about everyone. Highly recommend.
All I have to say is WOW! I made a reservation after hearing about the new chef here. I am very familiar with his past restaurants and had high expectations for this visit and I cannot find one reason not to make this one of your go to restaurants for any occasion! The service was amazing! Usually it is very difficult to find great service at waterfront restaurants but the servers seems very well trained and knowledgeable. I had the Beef Short Rib lettuce cup and I wanted to order a couple more since it was so good! I am glad I did not as I had to save room for my entrée! I had the Berkshire Pork Chop as I am not a huge seafood person and it could not have been more flavorful! We also had the most unique dessert I have ever seen which was a sundae in a teapot and while it is carried through the dining room it is smoking! It is called the Holy Smoke and it was so fun! I have to say the new chef here did not disappoint and I will be back for the Happy Hour at the GORGEOUS bar! Next week is my birthday and already have reservations made to celebrate there! I can't wait!
What a great way to spend an evening over MLK holiday weekend. A great meal in January at this waterfront restaurant. Everything was perfect the food was delish Everybody at my table loved everything they ordered! The service right on point -attentive and professional . I will be returning to Louie's in the next couple weeks to try out some other items on the menu. I can't wait!!!
Excellent food. Outstanding service. We got 18 oysters which were so fresh and yummy and the mignonette was perfect too! We also shared the fried seafood plate which was enough to feed two people comfortably and we asked to have the homemade potato chips instead of the sides that come with it.
They should close their doors right now. I had one of the worst meals of my life on Saturday September 24, 2016. They only serve two types of Vodka can you believe it. We had appetizers and before we were finished they were bringing us our main meals, talk about being rushed. We asked for the manager who came to the table and made excuses. The waitress had an attitude and she made us wait for anything else we asked for. We were there to celebrate a friends Birthday the brought out the cake and we waited 15 minutes for coffee. My husband asked the waitress about our coffee and she said did you not see when I placed the order for your coffee. The food was horrible as well. You have been warned go somewhere else...I heard that have new management. They will not last long at this rate.
They are getting by on location, location, location. The food is sub-par and the service is intermittent at best.
The bar is INSANE and almost too crowded to get to the outdoor seating. No one should have to scream to get by the rude patrons drinking and sloshing at the bar.
A wonderful view from the whether you drive or boat, you park your vehicle in the lot or by the dock and hop in for a delightful meal. The raw oysters are amazing. The food is pretty good not exactly great but the ambiance, service, the view make Louies a great dining experience.
The waiter was a delight, even though he was having a slow night after Christmas. The entrees were very good, as always. The special salad appetizers, shrimp/grapefruit and mozzarella/tomato, were overpriced and smaller than expected. The Buehler wine was liked by two of the three diners.
we had a special dinner with my daughter and two grandchildren before seeing the Nutcracker. Our waitress was very accommodating and observant, all our dinners were great, my one grandchild had the lobster kid's meal which was a very nice portion with most delicious French fries. I had two appetizers, the lobster bisque is very recommendable and the clams in the garlic/wine sauce were very good. My other granddaughter had the linguini with the white clam sauce, also delicious. All in all we would certainly go back. The noise level is very high even so we had an early dinner and a lot of tables were still available.
We ate in the bar which has a very high ceiling, dark wood & an old world charm. It was quiet because it was a Tues. & early. Fri. & Sat. are noisy. We did not take advantage of the Mon. & Tues. 2 lobster feast including dessert. The steak was perfect, scallops & asparagus were good, but the best was crab stuffed shrimp. The special of crab stuffed sole was not as good--sole dry, but stuffing was tasty.
A friend of mine came to see me from Brooklyn, and I thought, having been there before, that it would be a nice place to go, as I love scenic places on the water. I must say that the lobster bisque was very good, but I then ordered the crab cakes, which I did send back, as I did not like the flavor of them at all. In addition, I thought the restaurant was quite pricey for lunch, and I probably would not go back again.
OMG, my wife remembers this place from years ago. Last went 9 years ago, and it was ok. Heard it changed hands, redecorated etc... She 's been wanting to go for ages. Finally went this past Sunday and we were disappointed. Food was bland or oversalted, no better than Red Lobster. Waiter tried, but couldn't overcome the awful food. Even the waiter said that there was something wrong with the fish and chips, as other's sent it back. I suppose to have drinks in the summer on the deck is nice, but the food is way mediocre. Jolly Fisherman, here we come again!-
We requested a table with a view and were given a table away from the window even though this was confirmed that day. There was 6 people in our group and no one like the food they ordered. Terrible experience and highly overrated and expensive. Not worth it at all.
Louie's has been in Port Washington over looking the water for generations. The fish specials and the lobster are consistently good, as is the view. The pre-fixe menu is less money, still no bargain and the food disappointing. If you dine at Louie's stick with the expensive and forget the pre-fixe.
The drinks, although a bit pricey, were great, it's a fun bar scene. The 1 1/2 pound lobster is smaller than it sounds, so order some special appetizers they'll tell you about while you read the menu. A special item, the Ramen Noodles with Lobster was good but it not the same as it's 'asian' version. Dessert was a great chocloate sundae, can't go wrong with ice cream!
View was beautiful, food was good. Had a confusing delivery of our lobster special when the y delivered two forks and an extra potato and after taking the forks with lemon off the serving plate they took away my dish and served it to the next table. We waited for two additional platters to be served to us 5 minutes later. Not very professional. However the rest of the service was good.
Beautiful view of the ocean. Great service! I had the lobster w/crabmeat was dry I've eaten crabmeat all over the USA from Marthas Vineyard to Baltimore and San Francisco this was just average nothing special, mussels appetizer in a bacon sauce was to plump w/no flavor, I recommend shallots in the sauce. Everyone at the table had an assortment of seafood and shell fish. I felt the food was average for the price, but I'm a foodie, and I've worked and dined in 3-5 star restaurants I appreciate what a chef can do w/food... Sadly,I wouldn't come here again.
I was very disappointed that with a reservation it was an hour wait for outdoor seating when there were tables open the entire time we ate inside. Although the food was good, we could barely hear each other inside the dining room as it was extremely loud. Disappointed on not being seated outside with tables open and a reservation. We probably won't come back next year.
The service was excellent, the view is gorgeous. The food was good not great. The fish was fresh but not fancy. Every dish comes with the same scoop of saffron rice, which is good. My grouper special had just the piece of fish and rice, no sauce. It needed a little something else. The calamari appetizer was delicious.
I'm usually not one to write a review but my last experience at Louie's did not go well. I have been to the restaurant numerous times and the food is always good but I ordered a lobster roll and within the second bite I found a piece of plastic! I calmly told the waiter about what i found and he quickly put the plastic on a separate plate and walked away. A manager then came over and asked if I would like a fresh lobster roll or something else to eat. I asked to her for a new one which arrived quickly. I was personally very disappointed that they did nothing else for us, we had no discount on our check (which was over $100) and no one asked how the rest of our meal went. The waiter didn't even seem phased that there was plastic in my meal which I definitely could have chocked on! I am so bitter to the fact that it is one of my favorite restaurants and now I am in no rush to return. For the amount of money that I spent on my lunch I think I deserved a little more than a sorry.
