Always exceptional on all counts.
As great as ever.
Grumpy host, spotty waitstaff, food decent. Nuff said.
This was our first time at Louie's. The food was fantastic! We both had the wood grill Red Snapper. The fillets were beautiful and fresh and the wood grill flavor was fantastic. Best fish I've had in Sarasota and we've been coming here for years. Service was impeccable. If our waiter was occupied with another table, another server would step right in and check on us and get us anything we needed. The atmosphere is loud so I wouldn't recommended for a quiet evening. But the food is way worth it! Highly recommended!
Took 45 minutes to get our food after having to wait 20 minutes to order. Had to go ask for someone to take it. Food was good but won’t be back.
manager not responsive to meal not prepared according to order; food was served luke-warm
We had dinner before attending the opera. Food was good, but with six people at the table, it was difficult to hear every.
Excellent food in a modern setting with low noise and pleasant ambiance. The crab cakes starter is excellent; the short ribs were fabulous.
I was taking friends out for dinner. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived. We had a drink in the bar and unfortunately our table was given to another group. The staff at Louies Modern immediately sprang into action and offered to provide our entire meal and drinks on a complimentary basis. I don't think this has ever happened to me before.
The food was excellent and the service outstanding. My friends were so impressed, they told me they'll be hosting a dinner at the restaurant in the very near future. I've already told many people about how well we were treated.
We had an excellent meal with friends visiting from out of town. My friend is wine expert and was impressed with the wine list. The crab cake and calamari appetizers were excellent. The seafood entrees, grouper catch of the day and cobia were also excellent. One person in our party had the short rib burger and really enjoyed it. The restaurant was crowded early due to people going to the opera so we had to wait a short time for our table at 7:00, but once the crowd cleared it was nice and we had good service.
We had reservations and were seated immediately. It was busy.
I had Amberjack special. It was very good. Savored every bite. The couscous side dish was palatable, but not worth the calories. The tiramisu was awesome. Wife had the pork chop. It was one of the best pork dishes I have had.
Good wine selection, even the by the glass selection.
We will return.
Terrific ambiance and service..food well prepared and delicious !
We eat at Louies Modern weekly. The service is reliable and pleasant from the moment you are greeted at the door by Jeffrey, who wants to make sure you are served and satisfied. Louies has an ideal location if you need a pre theater dinner. The restaurant is adjacent to Florida Studio Theater and the Sarasota Opera House.
A little confusing ....not able to order happy hour drinks at our table....just 20 feet from the bar area....went back to have a happy hour drink....and then were somewhat rushed to our table....at least able to bring our drinks....even though there were several tables that never filled right up to 7 PM.....then food service slowed way down....all else was good....we like the restaurant....
By far one of the best places to dine in Sarasota. The staff was so wonderful and the food so creative and delicious! Can’t wait to try everything else on the menu!
Decided to do something different for dinner today. Haven't been to Sarasota in about three years so looked up restaurants in Sarasota and this one caught my eye. Looks like a new restaurant and very attractive when you enter. There wasn't a lot of entrees on the menu but one could easily select something they would like. Waiter had a few specials so overall all choices were good. My husband had the red snapper and I had the pork chop that they are noted for. Both meals were excellent! The dipping oil was delicious as well as the bread with a crispy crunchy outside and soft center. We didn't order dessert although that menu also looked great. Would highly recommend this restaurant and I am sure we will go back again soon. Don't forget, this is March and the whole world is in Florida now, or so it seems so make a reservation or you won't get in. Prices were a little steep but don't mind paying when food is good.
One of Sarasota’s best from service to food.
They called the day before to let us know that they would be clearing the dining room for a casino event. Gave us an option of coming earlier - worked out fine. Never had a bad experience - good food.
So happy to see that some of the classics are back on the menu! Great service, and the prices of menu items were great! Wine...not so much.Only 1 option for pinot noir at $18 a glass? More than some entrees??
Amazing service. Went here for the first time after hearing good reviews and was not disappointed. Waiter was kind and accommodating. Thank you so much!
All 5 gusts loved what they ordered! Salmon, crab cakes, chicken, salads and then oh, those desserts. Great theater dining. Outstanding service. Will be a go to venue!!!
New 'locals' checking out the Sarasota restaurant scene and quite enjoyed our visit. Great service (shout-out to Spencer) and nice wood fired fish entrees. We'll come back.
Wonderful experience. Everyone was accommodating and professional. The food was outstanding as was the service. Our waiter explained every dish and we were not disappointed. Look forward to a return visit.
Always superb and interesting food, perfectly prepared.
Every time as good as the last - always impresses! I am so pleased with the renewed menu and service. The service is so professional and makes for a perfect dining experience. The soups are very, very delicious and are the perfect starters. The pork chop is the best we have ever had and we order it often in restaurants in NYC. The poblano pepper vegan entree was excellent - hesitated ordering and now will order again and again. This is my favorite restaurant in Sarasota!
The scallops were excellent. The fish dishes were overcooked. Great waiter.
The food is always consistently good and delicious. Dining room is well managed and the wait staff is friendly and professional.
Our out of town guests are always astounded at the quality of this restaurant.
Outstanding meal As always
and the service personnel were exceptionally kind and efficient. It’s great to go to a restaurant where the food matches the menu!
The menu has something for every taste and appetite with a good selection of small and large plates. The substantial brisket burgers were a hit as were the wood grilled fish. Servers were friendly, helpful and efficient. Unfortunately, we were too stuffed for dessert, but they looked good, so we'll have to come back.
Louie's Modern accommodates the wide range of dietary concerns of my family;y and friends.
fresh, local ingredients and willingness to accommodate are appreciated.
We love the eclectic menu and good flavors. Service was not as attentive as before and our fish was overcooked. But the server was agreeable to some requests we made for changes. Still love the place!
We dine at Louies Modern frequently; if not weekly, every two weeks, and have been dining there ever since it opened several years ago. We had put the restaurant on our "maybe" list in the spring of 2017 because we were no longer excited by the menu offerings or dining experience. Luckily, Christian was hired as one of the managers and Louies Modern has been revitalized with tantalizing menu options - be sure to order the Tomahawk Pork Chop. The only reason I rated the overall and service experience as 4-star and not 5-star this particular evening is because we waited 15 minutes for our waiter to take our order, plus the food was served 45 minutes from the time of our arrival for our 6:15 PM dinner reservation. There was a private dining party and the kitchen was slammed since everyone was ordering at the same time. Compliments to Christian for his magical management. We plan to keep Louies Modern on our "A" list for dining options.
Everyone loved it.
Busy but comfortable. Food good and quick servive
Food was excellent. Service a tad slow to start but they picked up our drinks because it took them a few to get our order. Everything else was great.
Good food we were seated near kitchen, appetizers with buratta and tomatoes were excellent as were the grouper seafood special.
First visit to this location and it will be a place we will bring back friends often. The 'to share' appetizer of hummus, breads and olives was delicious! And although it was a large dining room which overlooked the cooking area, it still had that cozy romantic feeling. Our entries of "surf and surf" a lobster and scallop combo along with the shrimp over cous cous entrée where cooked to perfection. The entire staff was very attentive. We will be back often as we enjoy more of the Sarasota lifestyle.
one of the best brunches I've ever gone to, I will defiantly be going again.
Great meal here under the care of our server , Zachary.
The drinks created at the bar were wonderful and the atmosphere was hip and cool without being pretentious.
