Less than expected for the price we paid along with the service. We arrived on time for our reservation but had to wait 15 minutes, once we got to our table we had to wait about 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. The waitress was nice but she worked the outside area and was a little unfamiliar where things were in our area. The cocktail my wife ordered took a while to arrive. Regarding our order I ordered the salmon without pork and my wife ordered the 16oz steak, along with the clam chowder and calamari. When the entrees arrived the salmon had bacon on top of it and had to wait 15min before a new salmon entree came out, but in the meantime my wife's food drew cold as she waited for my entree to come out again. The food was tasty but having to wait twice for the main course was a disappointment. As we were eating two of the bus boy's were moving tables around and boxed me in, unable to move to move to my right side. Since it was around 1010pm, the staff seemed more concerned about leaving than ensuring my wife and I along with a other couple nearby were taken care of. I had to wave my hand to get someone in the front of the restaurant attention. Overall the food was good but just need to ensure that you stay focused until the last customer leaves.
My wife and I took out two best friends out for Valentine’s Day. I requested flowers at the table, that didn’t happen. The menu was restricted, with very large price per person. The food the quality was OK but I’ve had much better. It was a disappointing evening I’m sorry to say.
We went for Valentine's Day and when I made the reservation, there was no mention of a set menu. The food was good, but the service was lacking and it was very noisy for what we thought was supposed to be a nice quiet dinner. They did nothing special except the set menu which was more to their advantage than ours. Other restaurants have done special things for special occasions and I was hoping that would be the case here but that was not to be.
It was my husbands 65th birthday and we were staying in Gaslamp.. made the reservations on open table , it was so easy.. we arrived early and were seated promtly.. the entress, 16 oz rib eye and macadamian crusted halibut excellent as was the ceasar salad and scallop potatoes... they even comp us a dessert.. our waitress was very friendly and attentive.. all in all an excellent experience
Not a very good experience. Ordered vodka Tonic and got vodka soda. we ordered fish and chips and it had way too much breading. And a Medium filet mignon and it was ok..but came on a sizzling hot platter so by the time i could eat it, it was med well . We ordered grilled spinach and the garlic tasted burnt. Too pricey for what you get.
We had a seven o'clock reservation for two on a Saturday night. We arrived a few minutes early and were promptly seated at a table for four with booth seating, which was nice as we like to sit together as opposed to across from each other. The larger table also provided an area under the table which accommodated our service dog. Our server was there to greet us almost immediately, and took our order for wine. My wife had the 6oz. filet and I had the 8oz. cut, both were cooked to a nice medium rare and were very tender. We split a wedge salad with bleu cheese dressing, but it was so large we could not finish it. Also, we each had a baked potato, which was also very big, and topped with butter sour cream, and chives. The dinner overall was excellent. We frequent San Diego downtown regularly but for some unknown reason had never tried Lou & Mickey's, perhaps because it is at the very south end of the Gaslamp District and not in the center, so it went unnoticed. A great find, and we will be back on our next trip.
One of our favorite restaurants. Great food as usual, but the evening was made even better by our awesome server, Courtney. She was beyond amazing, with great food suggestions, best smile & engaging attitude every time she came to our table. It made this special evening, celebrating a 50th Birthday, TOP NOTCH. Much Thanks Courtney !!!
The only thing good about our dinner was the protein. My guy had the ribeye and I had the Chilean sea bass. Both were great. Both sides we ordered were underwhelming - spinach tasted like wet grass (no seasoning at all) and the mushrooms were in a sweet balsamic glaze (not my cup of tea at all). We asked for the asparagus and somehow they forgot to season that dish as well. A little bit of butter and salt and pepper would have gone a long way. We will not be returning.
I've owned my own Catering company for almost 3 decades and I'm extremely picky about where I dine.
Lou & Mickey's is by far, my favorite Restaurant in San Diego. From the Prime Cuts, to the wonderful side dishes.

Santa Maria Grill
We were in town for New Years Eve. We did not notice on the web site that it was a set menu. The waiter was great and let us split the one dinner and it was plenty enough. No way we could have done a whole 3 course ourselves !! We did get some Mexican shrimp which was wonderful. We will be back to try the original menu soon ! thanks
