The food and service was outstanding. Their Cadillac Margarita’s are out of this world.
Server was great
food was amazing
one of my favorite restaurants in the country.
I'll be back:)
Everything was perfect if you can ignore the constant railroad crossing noise and a few characters on the sidewalks.
Can't wait to come back!! The food, ambiance, and staff are absolutely astounding!
Food was fantastic, the waitress was excellent. Sat outside and a freight train kept going by so it was loud. But overall it was great
We had a wonderful early dinner experience at Lou & Mickey's. We ordered beer, the beet salad, crab cake, clam chowder, and a shrimp pasta dish - all very tasty, the sourdough bread as well! The staff was was perfectly attentive, especially our waitress. The patio provides a wonderful view of the Gaslamp Quarter's vibrancy. We will definitely return.
We had a great outdoor dining experience with delicious food (one of the best steaks!) and excellent service.
Expensive Steakhouse with the lowest price steak sandwich Top sirloin @$40 for 6 -8oz can go up to $80 to $90 a steak. overpriced but great location. you're paying for the location and ambiance in the Gaslamp District
I came earlier than my appointment. They told me to seat anywhere. It told a while before the server came to the table. Gave me a barcode menu (lunch only), waiting for the server to come back and ask for a dinner menu. At this time we still haven't received any drinks. I had to seek the manager to get help for our table. Our previous experience was much better than what we received.
1) Sit down and have to request our candle to be lit
2) are served bread without any bread plates
3) served entrees without steak knives (have to get up to get one from a waiter)
4) they forgot one of our sides (have to go get a waiter again for this)
5) finish and ask for to-go boxes (they didn’t offer to box the food for us)
6) while trying to box the food a busser took one of the sides away that we were boxing (they did replace it at no cost)
Overall, $210 meal for two, $35 tip (lucky to have gotten anything) for worse service than I would’ve expected at Outback.
My husband brought me here for my birthday and I loved it!! The atmosphere was perfect, the food and service amazing!! Would defiantly be coming back
Beautiful evening in SD, was able to get seated earlier than our reservation time. The service was great, the food was amazing and desert on the house to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary. Would definitely go back!
Lou an Mickey’s was absolutely fantastic! The food, the service, the vibe - we loved it all! I recommend that you request Jeff when you get there; he is THE best! It was our first time there. We had the sourdough rolls, oyster sampler, shrimp cocktail, 20 oz. 45 day aged porter house, 12oz American Wagyu ribeye, broccolini, and mashed potatoes. We then ordered cremation brûlée and the cheesecake for desert. The cheesecake was our favorite - so fluffy, and yummy!! Highly recommended! Along with our dinner we had rounds of cocktails and beer! I believe I ordered the Fifth Avenue- it was delish. We will definitely be back again! It will always be a MUST when visiting San Diego!
Best steaks ever!! Oysters, we had the sampler very fresh , beat the ones I had in Chicago years ago. Drinks can't go wrong anything you get taste delicious. I had this Special martini with campari. And a whisky sour.. oh and their apple tart yummy. My place to come when I come to San diego.
Great ambiance and service. The steak was out of this world delicious but the sides were pretty average. I was a little disappointed because of the side orders - potato was undercooked and cold and the mushrooms were large and whole. Meal was pricey for what we got but I would try them again with different sides.
Our main courses were delicious: I had the Chilean sea bass and my hubby had the porter house steak. Oysters were delicious as well; however, the French onion soup was very bland (and I never add salt to anything, but this was very lacking in flavor). The broccolini was so overcooked it was charred and dry. Service was average; she was nice, but lacking that little extra. Overall, we will be back and we do recommend visiting this restaurant!
awful service. Did not care what we ordered. Brought in wrong dishes several times. When sent back waiter proudly claimed we would not be charged for them. Duh!
Asked about special occasion, which was our anniversary. Never again mentioned and no desert offered
Will not be back due to poor service with inexperienced staff
We always dine here when in San Diego, food and drink were wonderful like always, service seemed slow, not our servers fault, too many tables of people it appeared. Not the usual service we have come to expect.
Lovely evening on the patio with wonderful food.
Great food, but the steak was overpriced. Service was excellent.
I ordered a American Wagyu steaks $74.
It was the worst prepared I’ve ever tasted. It looked like it was sous vide with char on it.
The service was horrible. The waiter acted like he didn’t really want to be there let alone service us. He decanted a red I brought and didn’t bring us wine glasses until asked.
Worst experience in a place I spend $450
Will stick with TruLucks
We truly enjoyed our meal and Brennan was a GREAT Waiter. Food Was Yummy
Always great food & cocktails. Julian has served us a few times and always provides great service!
It was lunch with 6 people later in the afternoon. Generally, it was okay and I'd probably go back and try dinner. I thought the lunch options were limited and mine was bland.
Al’Aberto provided a truly spectacular birthday dining experience. I would have given a 5 star but downtown has a bad sewer problem.
This was a great restaurant for celebrating dual events, both a birthday and anniversary.
Our server Heriberto was amazing. He made our family feel extra special by helping us select menu items that were perfect to share even for the non-meat eaters of our group. And the outdoor setting was perfect. All around, great food, service, and scenery.
The steak sandwich was NOT on the menu
BUT provided to we THREE!
Our favorite...hopefully a menu item again
OR at least always available to we locals and regulars!
Great service and food
Great ambiance and good service but food was very average at best ,
We had such a great time while maintaining safety during Covid. The service, ambiance, and food was stellar.
My steak was fantastic but the potatoe was cold and slightly underdone. My wife’s meal was cold and of lesser quality. The service was poor. All of which led to the conclusion that the value was simply not there
Everything was fabulous!!! Service was friendly and attentive! Food was delicious and perfectly prepared (sea bass and filet minion with asparagus and scalloped potatoes as side dishes). We love their bread- best sourdough rolls ever!!! We will be back next time we are in town for sure!!
Fabulous meal! Chateaubriand for everyone! Brian was fantastic!
Good but very overpriced food. One piece of fish on pasta with 3 leaves of spinach for $45. nice outside seating area right in front of the Convention Center. Noisy trains going back and forth. OK for a business dinner but that's it.
Excellent meal! Nice outdoor seating area, great food and drinks!
Horrible horrible service. I have been looking forward to dining here the last few visits to SD from Sacramento. Finally booked it during Covid and was so excited to try it out. It started out great. Our waiter (Brennan) was great at the beginning. He took our drink orders and made recommendations on what raw oysters to try. I finished my drink then asked him for the wine list and he disappeared. There was a table of about 8 guys next to us and he spent most of the time there. I figured of course since the chances for a bigger tip might be at that table but it really ruined our meal and experience. The busboy and servers were a lot more helpful at that point. He could tell we weren’t happy but that didn’t have an impact on his service. I expected a lot more out of a place where we paid $300 for my wife and I.
First, I'm all about supporting our local restaurants and plan to continue. This review is in consideration of the price point of this particular restaurant.
Steaks were amazing. That's why I gave it 3 stars.
Appetizers arrived at the table room temperature. Ordered a second drink when appetizers arrived at the table and it didn't arrive table until after entrees were on the table. Our table was never cleared to prepare for entrees. We had to move and stack our empty appetizer dishes in order to make room. Also, had to ask for steak knives... in a steak restaurant... when we both ordered steaks. Then, because I'm an optimist, we asked to see a dessert menu. It took 15 minutes for him to return with the menu. We asked for the bill, which took another 10 minutes at least.
There were plenty of servers, bussers, and even some sort of management walking around with a tablet of some sort. There was plenty of staff.
There are plenty of great steaks in San Diego. Service sets them apart.
First time in San Diego. Decided to kick off our evening with a nice dinner.
The food was good but not the best that we’ve had at other steakhouses. We order a crab cake as an appetite. The crab cake was good. The bread basket was very good (sour dough rolls). I order a wedge salad. It’s essentially a half head of lettuce with toppings. Given the amount of greens the toppings seemed not to be enough. I would suggest reducing the size of the wedge to a quarter wedge. My wife and I each order a filet with a two sauce sides . The filet quality was very good. We also ordered a side of scalloped potatoes. The scalloped potatoes were good. For dessert we order the apple tart and the cheesecake. The apple tart and cheesecake were fine.
Because of the Covid pandemic, we sat outside so not to have to wear our masks indoors. Heads up there’s a train crossing signal that goes off frequently and detracts from the experience but I understand. There’s no other choice for outdoor seating for the restaurant.
Service was excellent. Total bill with Tio was approximately $300.
Superb food. Outdoor seating was pleasant. Definitely recommend.
Great food and service (Brian) but the train directly behind the restaurant was loud and annoying. Great place, bad location.
