The "Happy Hour" as stated on their website fails to mention that to get the drink special you must also buy an appetizer. Other that that slight misunderstanding, the spring rolls and Sizzling Beef I had were excellent! Glad to have found a new place to dine, though I miss Medi quite a bit.

Always a treat to have Pho here. We spent Easter dinner here and had a great experience!

Wide selection of appetizers & entrees; pho was excellent but was only one of many creative options. Service was attentive - and patient with Vietnamese food novices. Great value.

Being 2 p.m., There were only 2 other diners besides the staff eating. When we were greeted, I told the waitress that I made a reservation for 2 under my name. She acknowledged me but I doubted that she was going to confirm that I kept my reservation with OpenTable. The only reason I chose this restaurant was because I was able to make a reservation through OpenTable. I included a note that I didn't like cilantro and didn't want it in anything I ordered. I ordered the spring rolls to share. They were VERY greasy. I also ordered the Pho #1. I asked if it had cilantro in it. I was told it did but it can be left off. When my order came, there was cilantro on top. When I asked about it, the waitress that took the order came over, apologized and took it away. I told my husband that I hope they don't skim off the cilantro but instead remake it. The Pho came back quickly. As I started to eat it I saw a cilantro leaf. Then I started fishing out more pieces of cilantro. The waitress came back and I showed her what I fished out. She apologized and took the Pho away a 2nd time. When she brought me another bowl, it was freshly made with the veggies on another plate. By now I didn't have time to eat it. My husband had finished eating his stir fry. I gulped down about half the Pho, we paid and left. Didn't enjoy my lunch at all. No part of my lunch experience was above average. I've had much better. As a result 3 stars was a generous rating for average meal. It should be 2.5 stars.

This was our first time at this place - chose it b/c we were seeing Titanic at Signature. Food was good, but the service was slow and varied.

I love that there are so many vegetarian options. I enjoyed the lemongrass tofu. Restaurant was quiet, and I wondered why it wasn't more crowded.

Dinner was good solid Vietnamese food. More expensive than most Vietnamese, but that makes sense because of the Shirlington location. This is a class act, not the usual bare table soup restaurant. So you expect it to cost a little more. It is still lower price than the others in the area. The food, on the other hand, and the service, exceed the quality of other nearby spots.

Very good Vietnamese food. I go here often and cannot figure out why more people don't. Love the crunchy spring rolls and noodles and wider selection of beers. Forget the cocktails.

The food here was very average. I expected a little more since it was in Shirlington. The fried appetizers (egg rolls, fried squid, fried bean curd) we ordered was very greasy and not crispy. It just wasn't fried correctly. We had 4-5 other dishes and they were all very average. Most came in a bowl with only a few slices of meat (pork or chicken). Mainly it was filled with rice or vermicelli hidden by the meat. I would say 80% rice/noodles and may 15% meat with 5% being vegetables. Nothing really stood out. It was my first time at this restaurant and it clearly disappointed.

The food was delicious are service was on the lacking side though. The ambiance is there it's very quiet and quant, but the service is in you face almost. They were not quick about taking away our appetizer plates and when you got your meal it was almost like they wanted you to eat it the way they intended if you didn't want the rice sheets then you couldn't have that meal. The food, however, did make up for it. The food was delicious and definitely had that Vietnamese flavor we were looking for. Overall a wonderful choice for our dinner, but I had wished the service quality to be better.

Everything at the Lotus Grill was wonderful..The food was delicious and different. Our waitress was especially attentive and explained how to eat some of the food we ordered in the correct manner. I especially liked that it was very tranquil and quiet and made conversation with our friends easy and enjoyable. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will be going back.

The pho was fantastic I'd been searching for months to find a place in northern Virginia that served pho I liked. The decor was a little bit distracting but it was very quiet for a Saturday night which is a plus, I'm not much for noise. The waiter could have been a bit more attentive but overall I'd recommend this place.

The restaurant is small and cozy. Has the capabilities of being a great neighborhood gem, our service was probably hampered by the USA women's soccer game that was playing, so I let that go as I was watching also. Food was hot when arrived and spiced nicely. Would give it another go to get a real feel for the place.

Fresh ingredients, nice decor, a bit noisy inside. Parking is tough and you will need to park in a garage or lot a block away on most busy nights or weekends.

I had the Veggie Lunch Special and being a vegetarian it was perfect! The Pho soup had used veggie broth NOT beef or chicken broth like other places and it smelled divine! The special came with a few choices, I picked a summer roll along with the veggie noodle soup. There were quite A LOT of veggies but everything was so tasty. The noodles were also perfect and again the broth smelled amazing and tasted great too. The restaurant looked fairly new and was nicely decorated. The place was pretty quiet so it was the perfect setting to catch up with a friend!

I had dinner with two different groups two Friday nights in a row. Loved it both times! Exceptional lemongrass chicken, and the mixed skewer presentation was beautiful. Generous portions. Excellent, friendly service. Everyone in party raved, including friends who have been to Vietnam and love the food there. I think this place is going to take off once folks fine it. I will be back soon!

Pho was not hot after returning it twice. Noodles were uncooked at the bottom of the bowl. Broth was not flavorful. Place and service not memorable. Lots of other choices at Shirlongton - won't be going back there.

In the busy Shirlington area, Lotus is a quiet retreat. The food was excellent and plentiful Vietnamese classics. Especially great were the spring rolls and chicken wings as appetizers. The mixed kebab grill with rice paper wraps (you put you meal together in the manner of Chinese Peking duck wraps) was terrific! It could easily serve two people.

Yellow curry seafood dish: While the seafood seemed good and fresh, the yellow curry sauce was glop, barely seasoned. I had asked about vegetables in the curry, perhaps bok choy or snow peas, and I got the frozen carrot and pea mix. An appetizer of shrimp spring roll was good with a large shrimp rolled up in crispy wrap and attractively presented. Service was pleasant and attentive. Barely anyone else was in this restaurant on a very busy Friday night among the other Shirlington restaurants.

When we arrived we found the power partially out. It was dark and a little warm. We thought about leaving. Luckily we didn't! I had the summer rolls and they were hands down the best ever. The greens were crisp and tasty and with the peanut sauce...yumm! I had the pork Bahn Mi (did I spell that right?) and it was really excellent as well. I have been there before and it was always good, but this was a spectacular way to overcome adversity. Wonderful! Will be going back soon! By the way, I gave the ambiance 5 stars in spite of the power outage because we were treated so well!

The food was superb as was the service (attentive but not obtrusive) and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The pho was deliecious as was the mango Chicken and the beef with crispy noodles. The strong iced coffee served with condensed milk was some of the finest we've had.
