Lotus Farm to Table, a contemporary American restaurant, owned by Courtney Rozsas, is nestled within the lively atmosphere of State Street in Media, PA. The intimate 40-seat eatery is a BYOB that offers a casual and comfortable atmosphere through its soothing colors and dark woods. Chef Ryan Sulikowski has created a tasty menu of healthy dishes. Every dish is prepared from whole foods, easily digested and proportioned so that diners can enjoy multiple courses with lots of variety without feeling over extended. At lunch Lotus provides a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. Light soups and bright flavors will energize the diner for rest of the day. Went with friends for Saturday evening dinner. Our reservation was seated on time. There was a troubadour in the corner near the door which made casual conversation challenging. Perhaps if we were seated further from the live entertainment hearing each other would not have been a problem. The service was excellent. The hostess, waitress, and dining room staff were attentive, informative, and unobtrusive. We ordered 3 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 2 of the same dessert. 2 of the 3 apps were served cold which was not expected since they weren't listed that way on the menu. Roasted squash with barley shouldn't be cold. The dinners were tasty but not in any way exceptional aside from presentation. The dessert was a chocolate sampler including, ice cream, cake, flourless torte, and some other items. It was frozen. We had difficulty cutting it to eat.
If one of the 3 courses were sub-standard I would give them a pass. All 3 were in one way or another average or less than.
We met friends we hadn't seen in a while. It was restaurant week and the 3 course menu at $45 a person was fabulous. The choices were plentiful, large portions and very interesting, The beet cake and flatbread appetizers were superb. We tried various second courses- carrot coconut soup, potato salad, tofu stack and all were delicious. Our entrees were also great- duck breast, mussels and clams, salmon - cooked amazingly perfect. We enjoyed the food and the byo aspect. Hadn't been here in a while and will definitely return.
Our meals were excellent! Interesting and diverse menu, well prepared food by a chef who can
deliver. One of the best meals we've had in Media. Would definitely go back. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive waitress
The only minor complaint was the live music. While he was very good, the place is too small
to have live music. For the tables in the front, it's as if the musician is sitting with you, singing and playing, while you are carrying on private conversations and eating your meal.A little off putting.
Food was excellent! Really outstanding! The salads were fresh and big enough to share. The salmon was perfect, steak was prepared correctly and the flounder was amazing! The service was excellent, all staff friendly and knowledgeable. The live music was not our taste and was a little loud since we were trying to catch up with friends but overall still a great atmosphere. All in all the check was reasonable too! We will definitely return, thanks Lotus!
There were 4 of us and we were all disappointed in our meals. Scallop dish was primarily potatoes, pork loin was supposed to be cooked medium but was dry, tough, and fatty. The one unisex bathroom sink handle was broken. Thought is was overpriced and will not return.
Food was lovely. Service was meh at best. The hostess was a little rude and most of their waiters were high school students. However we weren't in a rush and enjoyed the food which was the redeeming factor to the service. Was also pricey which is likely why we won't frequent this place. For a table of two with two small appetizers and two meals we spent 100 bucks after tip.
Met my Girl and a good friend for a mid week after work rendezvous. Have been to Lotus on several occasions and never disappointed. Food is creative, and well prepared. The fact it is BYO assures we will like the wine, and check out their events to catch a night when Johnny Never is performing Piedmont Blues in the dining room. It is a treat.
The small bites, salads, and deserts were out of this world. Excellent flavors put together in interesting ways - delicious. Slightly disappointing, however, were the main plates (we had the pork chop and the duck breast). We ordered them done as the chef recommended - but both were tough and dry. Maybe that's a byproduct of coming from the farm rather than a mass-produced operation, but the experience on the plate was a come down from everything else. When we go back, we'll make a meal of the fabulous small plates and give the main plate a miss.
We've dined at Lotus Farm To Table for a number of years. The food, service and ambiance are always wonderful. I must say on the occasion the noise level was very, very loud and distracted from an otherwise wonderful dining experience. The noise was coming from a large group of young people who showed absolutely no concern for anyone else who was in the restaurant.
I understand these things are difficult to control, but it did very much over shadow the quality of the purpose on us being there which was my birthday dinner. BTW, the waitress knew of my birthday and didn't offer anything. Not even a cupcake with a candle in it. Not very impressive...
Very creative. Nice selection of fresh fish. The complimentary craft beer before 6 p.m. for dining under stars is a nice touch. We should really try the menu indoors some time, outdoor conditions are not always ideal. But all in all the highest quality of food and level of dining in Media.
Thought LOTUS was a great spot. Wasn't sure what was going to be in the menu, since everything is fairly seasonal. The entrees we had were great. My wife and I were both loving the salmon and the burger. Dessert a little different, but everything was amazing.
My wife and I are frequent diners at Lotus and live in Media. We love the fresh menu options, the kind and laid back service and that it's a BYO. The food is always great, the menu changes often and we love that. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are great for the food you receive.
Live music was nice, but much too loud for a small place, really tough to get them to move us back a few tables so we could talk but they finally moved us back 1. Food was good, though seemed to be immature rather than great farm fresh. Instead of trendy, stick to wholesome fresh comfort food to keep us coming back.
The menu was very creative and food was very fresh and delicious, and BYO policy kept bill reasonable. Our server really tried to be accommodating and informed about various food allergies at our table but her follow-up and timing were significantly lacking. Fro example, they brought us 2 menus, and later 3 appetizer plates, for our table of 7. No one offered to chill our white/sparkling wines. I would definitely be willing to try this spot again, and hope the mediocre service was a fluke or due more to one person than the entire enterprise (though they SHOULD invest in more menus!).
Food was good, portions a little small but acceptable. Waitress attitude kind of ruined the overall experience. "What do you like better the salmon or the bass?" " If you like salmon get the salmon, if you like bass get the bass." "This appetizer has three pieces, can we pay for a fourth since there are four of us?" "No". We ordered it anyway and there were two pieces. If we knew we probably would have ordered two appetizers. But since we only saw her when placing the order and delivering the check it wasn't that bad. The other servers for food and water refills were great. Gave her a decent tip(20% before taxes) but brought it back to us I guess so we could check our math. Maybe she was just having a bad day, I don't know.
We have eaten in many wonderful places in the USA and Europe. This was one of the best prepared meals either of us can remember. The attention to every detail on the plates was outstanding. Absolutely nothing negative about the experience. Nobody rushed us so we truly enjoyed the time there. They have a great collection of teas to enjoy. It is byob. We recommend Lotus for lunch or dinner.
