   We had a 6:00 reservation for four and no body was in the entire restaurant. I began to believe I had made a mistake. But I sure didn’t. The service and the food were excellent. This had a quaint cabin feel with superbly prepared entrees.

   Best food on Gull Lake! Had the Crab Cakes and the Grouper dish, it was amazing! Thank you, we will be back again.

   We had a delightful evening and will look forward to being back at Lost Lake Restaurant when you open next spring. Thanks for the nice dining experience.

   Terrible. We arrived at 6:30 for our reservations. We were sat and left the menus. I’ve waited 15 years to dine here, it’s so expensive I had heard but the food was to be fantastic. I decided on the petite filet and my friend the halibut. I decided to also get the bread with honey butter and share that. After 30 mins she comes to take our order. My friend asks for the halibut and the waitress says “I’m going to stop you right there. We have no fish, no walleye, no shrimp just scallops. We have no steak except a New York strip. We do have a pork chop and duck added.” My friend and I looked at each other and didn’t see anything that looked good on the menu, other than the special it was just a hamburger and pork sliders and Chicken left. Our wine comes. 30 mins later again we get to order. I asked for my chicken with the sauce in the side she said “the chef is too busy so he can’t do that”, we asked about the pork chop and she wasn’t sure if it had a bone, what vegetables came with it etc. my friend ordered the pork sliders and fries. Now it’s 2 hours since our reservation (830 pm), our food comes out, no catsup and waiting on water. The bread did come 30 mins prior but the butter is not honey butter it has green leaves in it..parsley??? My Chicken is poor meat quality and sometimes it has a burnt taste, sometimes onion and sometimes lemon, I cannot eat it even though I’ve not eaten all day. My friends French fries are good, taste like jo Jo’s from the pizza ranch. Her slider bun is hard like a rock you can’t bite it or crush it even. The meat is dry. At 9 pm waitress asks how it was, my friend complained that her bun was so hard she can’t eat it and I say the food was the worst I’ve had in years and that I wish I had gone to bar harbor or Raffertys or Ernie’s or zorbazs as they have much better food. She said “sorry but we are busy, we have no manager so I can’t give you a discount and we only have one chef”. I said it was expensive $70 for both. Don’t

   My wife and I had the Lobster Mac. It was OK. My daughter had the Pan Seared Chicken. It was pretty good. Portion size was a bit small. That’s the good. The bad: our reservation was at 7 and we weren’t served until 8:45. They were short staffed but our server was nowhere to be found for most of the evening. A table of 8 poured their own water then, after a bit, got up and left. Unfortunately I lacked their wisdom. She didn’t put in our drink order or even know what the wine was that I ordered. She was apologetic but made lots of excuses. The other server at least kept the water glasses full. Our meal was served but we had no silverware……After all that, I couldn’t leave a tip. On the way out the server made a point of shouting “Thank you” out the door. Classy. No way no how will we return. Should’ve stayed home and had a bagel.

   The restaurant was fully booked so we decided to eat in the bar area. Bad decision. Noisy and crowded. Bartender was aloof and unfriendly. our server was very good, as she volunteered to wait on us when the rest of her tables are in the dining room. Therefore, we could overlook the long wait it took to get our food. but while I was a disappointment and the scallops were terrible and the short ribs were bland. Items that we wanted were not available that evening, as they ran out. everything seems to signal that the end of the summer is here and the restaurant is going to close.

    Disappointing compared to other meals there. Were out of three starters. Salads had little dressing and were delivered at different times. Filet not tender and potatoes too salty to eat. Pineapple dressing on halibut didn’t have any discernible pineapple taste. Pan seared chicken was good. Service was polite but slow, disorganized and forgetful. Drove up from the Cities for dinner and should’ve stayed home.
