Los Vaqueros - Stockyards
I would like to be seated at the patio
If you have never been to this restaurant, you will pleasantly surprised and wonder why you waited so long... I have been going to Los Vasqueros for 35 years, since it opened. It is the only Mexican Restaurant I send people to when they come to town and want Mexican food. You can't find a more delicious chicken enchilada. I don't know what Mike puts in those, but whatever it is, it makes you carve them more. RH from FTW TX
Restaurant was closed but reservations and confirmation was still sent days ago. Had to change plans last minute with someone traveling from out of town.
Arrived to the restaurant with guests from out of town and the restaurant was closed. I completely understand that it was a holiday but there’s got to be a way to shut off the ability to make a reservation on here when the restaurant won’t be open. Seriously disappointing since we went all the to Northside for that reason.
This is a usual stop for us. Great location to the stockyards and food is consistently good tasting and hot. Service as regulars is outstanding.
Reservation was at 630pm got seated at 705pm. Good food and service. Very loud, could not hold a conversation.
Band was too loud but other than that, it was excellent.🅰️
Food was great, service was great - what more can I say? It’s consistently good!
Bummer because my wife was really excited about trying it out but her fajitas tasted horrible! The shrimp still had a salt water/dirt taste that bled into all of the protein. Luckily she loved the service and ambiance she’s willing to try it again and get enchiladas next time
Great place to eat mexican food and good cocktails
Although my wife suffered from a brief moment of heartburn, the top-shelf ($10.00) margarita was so refreshing, it was like we were oceanside. We arrived a bit early, and chose to take in the beautiful garden scenery. It was our 1 year anniversary, and there was magic in the air. We were escorted directly to our table, and the hostess, along with others congratulated us on our 1 year accomplishment. The ambience was quaint, while remaining majestic. The room was grand, and filled with Texas artifacts and trinkets. The food was spectacular! We are enchilada people, so naturally we ordered enchiladas. I the chicken, and she snagged the beef, and each bite was succulent, mouthwatering. We'd take a bite and hold it in, as we were trying to savor every possible taste. Now, if you liked them on Facebook you received a free cup of queso, which was very good and a nice touch, given that the two of us are quite frugal. The salsa was not to spicy, but boasting with flavor. The rice and beans were both wonderful, but the chips and flour tortillas were incredible. A very classy step in a tex-mex direction. Throughout the dinner, my wife and I raved about the food. I enjoyed watching her, and I knew I had made the right decision on Los Vaqueros.
Love coming in your restaurant! Head and shoulders above even other LV location. Delicious, authentic food with always great service.
Never disappointed when coming here! Always very good!
Was a slower evening for the restaurant (Wednesday night), however the service was not lacking as our hostess greeted us quickly and our server was attentive but not overly so! The Mexican Peppered steak came as a recommendation and it was terrific! My friend had Carne Asada and was not disappointed! Margaritas were terrific and it was a very pleasant experience over all! Will go back.
Everything was delicious! Our table was available when we arrived. Our server was attentive and the food was excellent! Thank you for a great meal!
Its a great location in stockyards and service is always good. If you make a reservation you will get seated quickly otherwise on Friday and Saturday's you can expect a weight. It's been around for a long time and the food is typical texmex and for the value it's good.
Unorganized on such a busy night. The hostess was crying. Our waiting never Brought our queso, cheese or sour cream and tried to charge us for all. I understand it was New Years, but maybe hire more help to handle such a busy night.
It was New Years Eve so obviously I understand a little bit of a wait for the food to arrive however over an hour at the table waiting on food for 2 people was a little ridiculous.
Average food, priced too high, never brought our tortillas
My wife and l along with friends are great fans of the Stockyards and the Tara Brisket Tacos at Los Vaqueros all four of us ordered them which were awesome as always.
The food is usually outstanding but this time is was barely warm when we were served. Our service was wonderful. The noise level is not good because of the band. This time they were stationed in the bar area but they were still too loud. It is very difficult to carry on a conversation. Love the chips and hot sauce and love the food when it is hot. Also like being able too make reservations on line through Open Table.
Great food. Great service. Chairs at the tables have a lot to be desire. Very unstable. Chair my spouse was on didn't have seat attached to chair when she sat down it allowed her finger to be pinched between chair and cushion. Caused her 2 stitches.
Didn't get waitress I requested when I did the reservation but it was ok. The reason I just gave 3 stars on service was that he never asked if we needed another drink.
The brunch-time Bloody Marys were awesome! Fun atmosphere.
They did not have my reservation and it took forever to get our food and it was cold. One of the women’s restrooms was out of order and the one they had open was very small. I have eaten here many times and was disappointed.
As a previous reviewer indicated we too were expecting something exceptional based upon prior reviews and unfortunately the overall experience at Los Vaqueros did not meet expectations. I have had a better quality meal from a TexMex food truck.
After reading so many glowing reviews prior to eating here I thought the food was going to be something special. I was wrong. The food was below mediocre and completely overpriced for the lack of quality. Then, the service was non existent. We saw our waitress twice and she looked mad that she had to do that. Once when we ordered and once when she brought the bill. We will not be going there again, nor will we recommend this place to anyone.
Delicious Tex Mex from the Stockyards.
Great experience as usual. Everything we try we love, esp the beef fajitas! Will be back soon.
We had a party of 12 and our waiter did a fantastic job making sure we were well taken care of! Los Vaqueros as been the ‘go to’ restaurant for all of our birthdays and special events. The team at Los Vaqueros is doing it right!
Kim is the best server to have, especially on the weekends!
Los Vaqueros is awesome. The ambience pulls you in immediately, and if that isn’t enough, the homemade salsa and never ending stream of fresh, warm tortilla chips will. From drinks to dessert and everything in between, it’s all delicious.
Had a great experience with the meal and the entertainment. But I got a notice from Open Table that we had not showed up for our reservation. We did show up, had drinks and dinner.
Love this place! Always hopping!
Fajitas were fabulous! Love the food
What a great place to celebrate Mother’s Day.
We have been dining at Los Vaqueros since moving to the area in 1999. We love the food, atmosphere, staff, and location. We have come for lunch, dinner, date night, and brunch. We have never been disappointed. Johnny Cisneros cooks up a fabulous meal!
We've been coming to Los Vaqueros for several years, one of my wife's friends wants to go there for every birthday to have the band sing Guacamole to her! Great fun and some of the best Mexican food you will find in the DFW area. Our waitress was very good, as most there are. We went for Mother's Day and although we skipped the buffet, two over easy eggs on top of enchiladas works very well!
Very disappointing Mother's Day brunch. The service was beyond slow, in that she regularly was just not in the area. The menu was not as advertised, either. Not nearly as good of a restaurant as it used to be.
Jessica was a fabulous server. The band trio was fabulous and sang a Marty Robbins song per request. The frozen raspberry margarita was delicious.
Thus was my third visit to this establishment. A Little disappointed this time. Ordered Mexican potato skins. Pd $10 for four very small potato halves with some cheese on them. Nothing Mexican about them. Good margaritas. Food is good but nothing spectacular. I realized while reading my choices for recommendations that there is a lot I don't know about this eatery. I will and have recommended Los Vaqueros and we will go back. It is also very noisy but I guess that goes with the territory. Oh I HATE the "musicians" coming to the tables! Free valet parking is great.
