    When in Los Olivos, we always try to dine at the Wine Merchant. The menu is always interesting, with many options for various food preferences. Service is prompt and friendly. The wine menu has a good selection from local wineries. And finally, the food is always well prepared and tasty.

    Had the home made ravioli as the main course which was very good. Just the right size portion. Started with the olive tapenade, hummus and flatbread - very good. Had the spinach salad before the main course. Salad was a great balance between the vinaigrette, pecans, cheese, and the apples. Live music performed by a single singer with a guitar. Perfect atmosphere.

    We go to the Wine Merchant often. This time we both ordered pasta dishes. Would not recommend the pasta here - really mediocre. The waitress (new) said my pasta was a white sauce when in fact it was a brown sauce. The sauce was odd in taste. We’ll take a break from Wine Merchant for a bit.

    Once upon a time...it was the Los Olivos Cafe...and now it is a combo tasting room and superb dining venue. Not cheap, but what is these days? Value comes from flavor matching quality and healthy. If you want to remember this wine country destination, then this is the food that soothes the soul and complements the terroir. The Bernat wines are more than good. Do follow the suggested pairings. Parking can be annoying and OpenTable is a must.

    The salads were flavourless and lettuce was wilted. The entree took forever. Won’t be going back. So disappointed. We usually eat here when we come into town but they need a new chef.

    I've been there several times and have always enjoyed it; however, this time we didn't have the best time for several reasons. We felt super rushed and worse, we had 5 people at a table that was really too small for even 4 people. We had 3 tasting flights, 4 appetizers, we each at our own glass of water (which we wanted), 1 large bottle of sparkling water with 3 glasses, bread....basically ZERO room for hardly anything at the table, then, they brought our 5 entrees. It was just a mess. Our waiter didn't seem very attentive, as I kept asking the bus boy to take away plates, or grab us whatever we needed. I definitely will be back, but if we're put in a similar situation, I would definitely say something before it get out of control.

    Best place to eat in the Valley. Our server was the best server we have ever had, she made sure our drinks were to our liking, we had a spill and she came back with paper to cover over the spill, everything we needed she went above and beyond. The flat steak was the best meal I've ever had. Definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

    We found ourselves at LOWM for a reservation for dinner on a Sunday night recently. We were seated promptly to a table for 4. The wall of wine sure is impressive, filled with local wines and others. Food was solid, delicious: we had salmon, cheese board, salad, and the chicken. Salmon was sophisticated with filling sides/finishes; chicken generous with simple sides were delicious, portions were respectable, and service on point. We ordered a bottle of the Fiddlehead 728 Pinot, and was delicious as anticipated. Dessert was a little limited with nothing flashy, but solid offerings. No cocktails, beer and wine only, and no digestivs to finish a fine meal. Cappucino was great. Value prices in many cases. Ambience was warm and welcoming, but appeared a little dated to us. Nonetheless, worth a visit while in town. Thanks for the experience LOWM! Cheers!

    Food was very good. Wine list is extensive and broad, with relatively reasonable prices (there's a wine shop attached to the resto). Our only misgivings were with the service, which felt rushed and not particularly gracious.

    Best restaurant for dinner in the Santa Ynez Valley. The atmosphere was lively and menu included one-of-a-kind tastes, like baked brie. Recommend making a reservation since there are few alternatives in downtown Los Olivos.

    We were all a little disappointed. The food was pricey and mediocre. Service was decent, but since our party of 6 was large, we were seated in a back room with 2 other large tables and it was difficult to converse or even to carry on a conversation with the person next to you. We visit Los Olivos almost every year and I definitely would not go back.

    Disappointed that there was a fixed menu, it did not say anywhere when I made a reservation that this was the case. However, the food and service were great. I would say the courses offered didn't have much of a "flow" or connection to each other.

    The food is always consistent. Our waiter this time barely came to the table, she was not impressive. We didn’t come at a time when she had gotten slammed, end of night etc. The wasn’t any real reason why the service lacked. Many prior experiences have been great service there and overall the place is favorite.

    We had been here for lunch before. There was Christmas Market going on with the streets closed. It was very boisterous and festively loud. It didn't bother us as we weren't looking for a romantic cozy dinner. Food was very good. Server was a little reserved and didn't seem to fit the scene. But he was polite and nice. Johnny-on-the-spot with water and taking dirty dishes away. Hostess was very pleasant. We will definitely be back as we live close and it is our kind of place!!

    This was our maiden voyage at the Los Olivos Wine Merchant and Cafe. We began with an insalata salad and flatbread with hummus. Both well-prepared and tasty. Our entrees were a lamb shank and cassoulet. The former was very tender and went well with the Bordeaux wine we brought with us. The cassoulet was an unmitigated disaster being so dry it was virtually inedible. We tried, but failed. After saying it was not the kind of cassoulet I found when I lived in France they promptly removed it from our bill. The service was attentive and courteous. My one surprise was the $30 corkage fee. Outrageous. We will be back.

    Delicious pastas and salads. Great fish too. Their wine list is massive so there’s lots of options, plus they always have great flights if you don’t want to commit to one kind of wine. There was live music the night we were there, acoustic guitar and singer, it was enjoyable and created a lovely ambiance. Highly recommend.

    We lived in the Santa Ynez Valley for 30 years, and Los Olivos Cafe was one of our favorite go to restaurants. Ate there on November 27...nice ambiance, Bernat wine was wonderful, but food was very disappointing. Salmon was tasteless, orecchiette mediocre. Mentioned it to some friends and they said the food was not what it used to be.
