Great ambiance and good food! Can’t wait to go back!
Best place to eat in the Valley. Our server was the best server we have ever had, she made sure our drinks were to our liking, we had a spill and she came back with paper to cover over the spill, everything we needed she went above and beyond. The flat steak was the best meal I've ever had. Definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
We loved it! Very friendly and fun. Delicious food. We would highly recommend
We found ourselves at LOWM for a reservation for dinner on a Sunday night recently. We were seated promptly to a table for 4. The wall of wine sure is impressive, filled with local wines and others. Food was solid, delicious: we had salmon, cheese board, salad, and the chicken. Salmon was sophisticated with filling sides/finishes; chicken generous with simple sides were delicious, portions were respectable, and service on point. We ordered a bottle of the Fiddlehead 728 Pinot, and was delicious as anticipated. Dessert was a little limited with nothing flashy, but solid offerings. No cocktails, beer and wine only, and no digestivs to finish a fine meal. Cappucino was great. Value prices in many cases.
Ambience was warm and welcoming, but appeared a little dated to us. Nonetheless, worth a visit while in town. Thanks for the experience LOWM! Cheers!
Great service! Delicious food. Great selection which made it easier to choose. We’ve been there a few times. We will go back!!
Food was very good. Wine list is extensive and broad, with relatively reasonable prices (there's a wine shop attached to the resto). Our only misgivings were with the service, which felt rushed and not particularly gracious.
Lovely luncheon with friends! Great place to enjoy wonderful food and wine!
I love coming to this restaurant. The food, service, and overall atmosphere is spectacular.
Terrific food and service was wonderful. Very nice for the price and the wine list is incredible.
We thought the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Very pleasant atmosphere, too.
First time visit. For my Sisters birthday. Marvelous and fabulous time. Will definitely cone back.
Food was fantastic, extensive wine menu with knowledgeable Somm, will definitely return and have the mushroom ravioli and to try the pizza.
Excellent as always
Best restaurant for dinner in the Santa Ynez Valley. The atmosphere was lively and menu included one-of-a-kind tastes, like baked brie. Recommend making a reservation since there are few alternatives in downtown Los Olivos.
I have been here many times. It continues to be a great place in Los Olivos.
I come here a few times a year and enjoy it each time. The staff is friendly, the service is great, the food is superb and their selection of wine is excellent.
Whenever we’re done here it feels like a special occasion. It was the last day of our vacation and we were so grateful to be there! Give me another
We were all a little disappointed. The food was pricey and mediocre. Service was decent, but since our party of 6 was large, we were seated in a back room with 2 other large tables and it was difficult to converse or even to carry on a conversation with the person next to you.
We visit Los Olivos almost every year and I definitely would not go back.
This is a wonderful place to eat. Great wine must, friendly, prompt service, food was delicious!
Disappointed that there was a fixed menu, it did not say anywhere when I made a reservation that this was the case. However, the food and service were great. I would say the courses offered didn't have much of a "flow" or connection to each other.
As always, good food and reasonable prices. However, no acknowledgement was made of our anniversary.
Great food and service! We’ve dined here several times and always have a good experience.
The waitress had to be asked for sweetener and mustard (which never came) twice, but otherwise the service was fast and the food good.
The food is always consistent. Our waiter this time barely came to the table, she was not impressive. We didn’t come at a time when she had gotten slammed, end of night etc. The wasn’t any real reason why the service lacked. Many prior experiences have been great service there and overall the place is favorite.
Always great food and wine. Look forward to going again soon. Oh the deserts are amazing
We had been here for lunch before. There was Christmas Market going on with the streets closed. It was very boisterous and festively loud. It didn't bother us as we weren't looking for a romantic cozy dinner. Food was very good. Server was a little reserved and didn't seem to fit the scene. But he was polite and nice. Johnny-on-the-spot with water and taking dirty dishes away. Hostess was very pleasant. We will definitely be back as we live close and it is our kind of place!!
This was our maiden voyage at the Los Olivos Wine Merchant and Cafe. We began with an insalata salad and flatbread with hummus. Both well-prepared and tasty. Our entrees were a lamb shank and cassoulet. The former was very tender and went well with the Bordeaux wine we brought with us. The cassoulet was an unmitigated disaster being so dry it was virtually inedible. We tried, but failed. After saying it was not the kind of cassoulet I found when I lived in France they promptly removed it from our bill. The service was attentive and courteous. My one surprise was the $30 corkage fee. Outrageous. We will be back.
Delicious pastas and salads. Great fish too. Their wine list is massive so there’s lots of options, plus they always have great flights if you don’t want to commit to one kind of wine. There was live music the night we were there, acoustic guitar and singer, it was enjoyable and created a lovely ambiance. Highly recommend.
We lived in the Santa Ynez Valley for 30 years, and Los Olivos Cafe was one of our favorite go to restaurants. Ate there on November 27...nice ambiance, Bernat wine was wonderful, but food was very disappointing. Salmon was tasteless, orecchiette mediocre. Mentioned it to some friends and they said the food was not what it used to be.
Service was friendly, efficient, and accommodating. We were a party of 12. Food had been sitting under overhead for a while. Food not as fresh. Pizzas were big.
A lovely place with no snootiness even though its ambiance is very 'date night.' We had six o'clock reservations but had bummed around Los Olivos and were ready for dinner at five. The hostess was gracious and found a nice table right away. The food was interesting and delicious; my husband loves to cook and the tastes and textures elicited the comment of, "I want to make this" rather than "I could make this". Service was kind and prompt. We'll definitely add this restaurant to our places to frequent when in the area.
A dozen of us had dinner at the Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Cafe the other night and it was just ok. I've been there before with a smaller group and had a great experience, but this time was different. We were put into the back "private room", where there were actually two other large parties with many small children who were quite noisy. The food was mediocre and inconsistent too. For example, three ladies at our table had the orecchiette. Each dish looked at tasted quite different, with waaaaay too much garlic. Anyway, we probably won't be going back any time soon.
We wanted to like this restaurant. Our reservation was 6:00 pm, therefore not busy yet. We were seated and the table was fine. The service was slow but not unfriendly. We ordered appetizers and received them after a wait. The Arancini were more cheese filled than usual, but that was their take on it. However, they were cold to lukewarm. An unfortunate way to serve a dish such as that. The cheese plate was fine. As the meal arrived, once again slowly, we notice the food was lukewarm again. The skirt steak had a fairly nice chimichuri , but was rather garlic forward. That was fine, but the steak was quite cool, ordered medium well. The orchiette dish was almost congealed from being too cool. It was more than garlic forward, and I like garlic. I was unable to finish the dish because the garlic became overwhelming as I continued to eat. We should have said something about our experience, but we were too surprised and disappointed to do so. Besides, our uneaten food was whisked away prior to the return of our waiter. We left without fanfare and will likely not return. Had the food tasted as good as it looked, this would have been a different review. We expected better.
We had the best time at Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Café. Thinking about the iconic movie Sideways, enjoying great food and wine and sitting next to the fireplace was a week-end highlight, and the service was superb !
Our group of seven enjoyed the ambiance and delicious lunch.
Our reserved table was ready and waiting when we arrived. Service was outstanding and the food was amazing! Will definitely be back!
We returned to the Wine Merchant, which is very close to Fess Parker's Wine Country Inn, and enjoyed our dinner there. We had a seasonal corn soup (just OK), and a very good salad, and split the Pasta dish (excellent). Service was very good, and ambiance was just right. I can definitely recommend this place for a quiet dinner in Los Olivos.
We went for our 27th Anniversary. We sat at the bar to take advantage of their Happy Hour specials. We ordered our entrees from the regular menu and took advantage of the HH special for our wines. They were outstanding! The staff was great as always. We live in Los Olivos so we enjoy dining at the Los Olivos Wine Merchant and Cafe fairly regularly. We used to eat there long ago when it was only the Los Olivos Cafe as a local coffee shop cafe. This is a consistently great dining location.
Not fancy, but very well prepared and conceived cooking. Good variety. Nice wine list with lots of local option s.
Was on our honeymoon. Stopped there for lunch. Was treated very well and given a beautiful dessert to celebrate.
