Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Cafe
Great environment. A bit loud, but it was busy. Good food, service, fun! Thank you. It was our second visit.
I thought it was kind of odd for them not to have enough champagne flutes for our party of 5 (at 530 on a Saturday). And our waiter was a little aloof. But the food and the space and the wine menu were fantastic. I’ll definitely be going back.
We were disappointed being seated in the back room.
There is no ambiance, and it’s like a dungeon. We were there for a special occasion, and the guest of honor was disappointed. We requested to be reseated upfront, but the request was denied.
Karen was super helpful and made the night fun and entertaining. Will definitely go back soon.
We're regulars and locals. This is a "GO-TO" for stress relief
Great options, delicious food & wine. Highly recommended.
Our favorite restaurant in the valley. We look forward to going every time we visit from Orange County
The pasta was overcooked. The pizza we ordered was very bland. The salad we had was very good but sparse.
There were 7 of us in our party and we got to the restaurant 30 minutes earlier than our reservation. The host was very polite and we were seated right away. Our server was great and very knowledgeable. Our food came out and everything was excellent!!! I ordered the lamb shanks with a side of raddichio salad, soooo yummy! My hubby and I were here in June 2018 for our 33 year wedding anninversary and we had a wonderful experience. Your place has become one of my favorite restaurant!
Service was friendly but slow. The trout was awful. The branzino wasnt much better. Pizza was just ok. Had high hopes for this place but alas, another overrated place.
We had a great time here. Excellent food. Good service. Nice friendly vibe. We'll be back.
We had a large party, and were placed in the back room. It was so noisy, and you could barely hear the person talking sitting next to you.
While we were appreciative of the restaurant accommodating 11 of us, the accommodations were not good.
Amazing as always!!!
Food was very disappointing. Salmon was under cooked, orchiette dish had too much garlic.
One of the best places to eat in the area after you're done wine and olive tasting. Great food, very fresh ingredients. We were very happy with our meal, the roasted vegetable with mozzarella appetizer was amazing! Great wine selection, obviously
Perfect birthday lunch!
This was the third time we've eaten here. This time we tried two different pastas, a salad and the pizza. Everything was very good. The caesar salad was great - very fresh, crisp romaine lettuce with a very good dressing. The pizza was very good - it had the right amount of toppings to dough ratio. The crust was med-thin, perfectly cooked with just enough crispiness. The mushroom ravioli was delicious - it is very rich and quite filling. That nights fettuccini special was also good - great pasta, but it could have used a bit more toppings. We were too full to order any dessert. Service was good, focaccia bread still wonderful, and great olives too. We like the casual, non-pretentious atmosphere. It's a bit pricey, but it's in-line with the other restaurants in the area.
Good food and service. Wide selection of wines. Good specials.
We love Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Cafe. This was our second visit and we hope it becomes (at leaast) an annual event.
We were a group of four and we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, the food, and the conversations. there was no rushing to move people through even though with the President's Day visitors, the restaurant was busy.
NOTE to Open Table...Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Café does NOT take reservations for lunch for under 6 people.
The ambience was very quaint especially the outside and the town. The entry to the restaurant was welcoming and had a nice fire and ample seating around it on a very chilly evening. The food was delicious and the service was great. I gave it a 4 only because the room our party ate in was very noisy. The hard walls and flooring and the low ceilings caused the noise to bounce and echo and it was difficult to carry on a conversation.
We were disappointed with this service during this visit. The server seemed distracted, wasn't as attentive as we would have liked and was very slow to return to the table after the food arrived to clear the plates etc. We were surprised because the room pretty much emptied out while we were dining.
Something has happened in the kitchen. What used to be an exceptional restaurant has become a gamble at best. Service staff is fantastic -- just the food sucks. I ordered a dish described as "pasta with vegetables" - I got a glom of pasta -- stuck together in a ball -- with some pieces of squash on the top -- that's it! We feel we have lost a fantastic, local spot. Hoping this gets sorted out!!
We were greeted at the door and said our table would be ready quickly. The host located us and showed us to our table. We had fantastic service considering how busy the cafe was. Again, the food was excellent. We definitely will be back.
Enjoyed the experience
This is one of our favorite places to have dinner. This is the second Valentines Day we’ve spent here in the last three years. Outstanding pasta, and we have never had a bad bottle of wine here. Service was excellent and the lighting is perfect for a romantic dinner. We’ve been going here for the past ten years. We are from Orange County, CA.
Excellent as always! Great lamb chops cooked to perfection and mushroom ravioli made with fresh pasta couldn’t be better!
Felt rushed. Granted mid week reservation on a rainy night at 7.30pm but having them sweep the floor was a sign we needed to leave which was annoying. Menu was fun but over portioned so heavy
This is, generally speaking, a great restaurant. But I tried the turkey burger because those of us who don’t want to be eating much cholesterol don’t have much other choice there. Big mistake. The meat was dry and tasteless. They tried to help by adding curry sauce but no cigar. The fries (which I guessed were cooked in vegetable oil, thus no cholesterol) were even worse than the LA Times’ take on In-n-Out’s. Help! Please fix this. I love this place.
Very loud. Sat us next to fireplace in front of bar where traffic walks by us. I ordered capillini with veggies. The only veggie was squash cut in cubes. I’ve been here before the the food and service was top notch. I don’t know what happened.
Hostess friendly, seating near wall a bit crowded for large men. Waiter was slow, our plates never cleared in timely manner. Food lacking flavor. Disappointing visit.
Such a lovely spot with a huge wine selection. Expert wine advice and outstanding pizza a salad. Enjoyed the experience and ambiance.
I LOVE Los Olivos Cafe. Anytime we come up from LA for wine tasting, we make sure to have a reservation to eat at the cafe. Their food is always delicious and the setting and ambience is really nice. Just enough chatter to make it welcoming but you're still able to have your own conversations. It's an amazing place to eat for a day trip or weekend get away - both lunch and dinner has always been great!
Great food wine and totally recommend the dipping sauce
Very good service and the food was very good too. We use this as a lunch or dinner spot as we travel to or from LAX.
Good and service were great. Value for the wines??? A little over the top.
New Year’s Eve and the 43rd anniversary of our first date! Wonderful food and fabulous service. Thank you for your recommendations, Karen. You’re one of the best servers in the Santa Ynez Valley.
We were a group of six with Open Table reservations. We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist and promptly seated. While the cafe and bar were crowed with a holiday lunch goers, the service was friendly and professional. The food, Wild Mushroom Ravioli, Pizza, salads and sandwiches, was exceptional, as were our wine and beer selections. Thank you for a pleasant experience.
Wonderful place in Los Olivos with good food and a great wine selection!
