I still love this place, it's one of my favorite places in LA. Having said that, I wish they had not changed the presentation of the lomo saltado. It used to come on a large flat plate and now it's served in a very large decorative bowl. There's definitely less rice and less french fries than when it used to be served on a large flat plate. I still had meat left when I finished my rice and fries, which was never the case before. It kind of ruins the lomo saltado experience if you run out of rice and fries before you're finished with the meat.
Creative well prepared Peruvian style cuisine. Service, drinks and dinner was great. Celebrating a friends birthday and our server brought out ice cream with a candle. Very attentive and occasionally asking how we were enjoying the meal.! Only complaint personally was very high noise level. It’s a generational thing. We’d go back.
Went for pre-show dinner, because it's very close to the Pantages. The service is friendly, quick and the food is delicious! Even though we didn't need it, I heard the waiter answer many questions and make recommendations to the party seated next to us who had never eaten Peruvian food before. I always eat here when I'm in the neighborhood. Only downfall, the portions are small for the price. Our dinners were served in these large bowls that were half empty. I suppose we pay for the ambiance and location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Los Balcones. The atmosphere was charming and the food was unique and delicious.
It was my third time to eat at Los Balcones and it was excellent, as it was the first two times. I took 3 friends who’d never eaten there and they loved it. Love the Arroz con pollo and great salads.
I have been meaning to check out this place for years and finally made it.... I am vegan so I always appreciate when there are a few vegan options on the menu so I don't seem picky when I am out to dinner with non vegetarian friends.... the food was great, warm vibe and good service.... i will be for sure go back someday
The ceviche is not the best but otherwise the food here is incredible. The lomo saltado is better than any I have ever had in my 16 visits to Peru and the fish was really good too. Surprised that they don't have a lot of Peruvian items on the menu, but the ones they do have are impressive.
party of 6 and most of us were disappointed with our dishes... bad ceviche, and veggie tacos very cold and very little flavor... i wanted to like the place.. but the only thing we really liked was the chips
Went for a family valentines date. Live music was amazing. Food amazing. Service amazing. The place was very romantic and cozy. Will return.
Awesome food. Jaime was great, took care of our party.
Food was great if only we could see it and dining congenial if only we could hear one another speak above the hubbub- it’s right next to the ArcLight so that’s a plus - maybe earlier week night dining would cure the noise and lighting challenges.
We had the ceviche which was ok, nothing too special. The star was definitely the meat. The lomo saltado was very flavorful. It didn't have any real heat like I'm used to with Peruvian food, but the flavor was so incredible that it made up for that. The portions were perfectly sized, was very satisfied without feeling like I just ate too much rice and potato.
Had a lovely time there with my wife celebrating some new employment. Great drinks. Really great Arroz con Pollo. And the bartender and server were exceptionally friendly.
Parking was free and simple just across the street behind the FedEx business. Our table was ready for us as soon as we arrived and the interior was warm and inviting and the Latin music playing was perfect...but the restaurant is fairly small in size and was completely packed. There is not enough room between the tables for the wait staff to get by without continually banging into your chair and table. The bar was right next to us and we had people congregating in the 24" between the bar stools and our table so we constantly had people rubbing up against our table. They brought out sweet potato chips and a green sauce (chimichurri maybe?) for dipping which was very good. We started with the fried calamari and it was pretty typical fried calamari - noting out of the ordinary. We dipped it in the chimichurri sauce and it added to the flavor. For dinner the wife had Lomo Saltado and I had the Cordero Del Norte (braised lamb). Both entrees were very good and the portion size was great. For dessert we shared the Picarones, which are basically a Peruvian cross between a beignet and a donut. They were light and crispy on the outside and very doughy on the inside. The fruit syrup was OK but we didn't care for them in general and didn't finish our plate. All-in-all it was a good meal. The service was pretty good, efficient, and friendly. We would come back -
Good, good service and reasonable prices. Will eat there again.
Excellent food and solid wine list. The bar tenders could be a little more knowledgeable but otherwise the service was great.
I thought the food was great, tastes were right on. I would come back.
I've been to the restaurant twice in January 2018. We had a great meal both times. The food is the best! Highly recommend everything we tried - the ceviche mixto with octopus (and I don't just love octopus); the anticuchos - Peruvian BBQ - the portobello is the best; the quinoa salad with roasted beets; arroz con pollo; and the grilled shrimp. And we love the ambiance of this small cozy restaurant with a great looking bar and enticing cocktails. I've just started Weight Watchers, and so many things on the menu were almost zero points - but sooo delicious. The first time we went our server was knowledgeable, attentive, helpful; the second time, not so much - inattentive, broke 3 glasses, kept clearing our water glasses, etc. However, I highly recommend this restaurant.
We had our annual New Year’s Eve outing lunch. It was a great change from the ordinary.
It was our first time coming to this restaurant and were not sure how much to order. We were also going to a show at The Pantages right after. Our server perfectly orchestrated timing and correctly guided us on how much to order. We loved our meal and the atmosphere and managed to squeeze in drinks, appetizer, entrees, desert, and coffee with time to walk 10 minutes to the theater. Well done!
We had a great time at Los Balcones. The food and drinks were delicious. The service was very professional and helpful.
Great food with super friendly service. They have some vegan options!
Love this restaurant! We go prior to heading to the Arclight.
Conveniently located near the Arclight Hollywood. Food is amazing and service is friendly and impeccable and did I mention the Pisco sours? Love this place.
Fun place to enjoy a drink in a sexy setting. Its a more modern take on Peruvian so slightly different than the mom and pop restaurants I typically go to for my Lomo Soltado, but for the event and occasion this place was ideal. Good service and clean environment.
The food was awesome! However, the hostess kept trying to pawn us off to The Parker Room next door. :( She did not make us feel welcomed! Our table wasn’t ready yet so we did wait at The Parker Room however we were there to try the Peruvian food. This is not a good way for the owner to encourage patrons to visit their other restaurant next door if that was their intent.
Terrific and interesting food, wonderful ambiance, and great service.
This is one of our favorite restaurants and we always have impeccable service and delicious food. Highly recommendable for dinner before a movie at the Archlight. The seafood and rice dish is one of my favorites.
lovely decor, great food. service is a little slow. but otherwise excellent and can't wait to go back.
We had a large party and were treated amazingly well. Food was great as was the service. Highly recommend!
Excellent Peruvian food in a relaxed atmosphere. Great ceviche and pisco cocktails.
I've lived in Hollywood for years and have always been meaning to eat here. I'm so glad my boyfriend and I finally did! The ceviche, the cocktails, my pumpkin tamal - ALL so delicious. Los Balcones is my new favorite restaurant!
We were standing at the entrance for several minutes. Servers were standing by the bar looking at us trying to figure out where to seat us. It was 3/4 empty. It was very noisy with loud music, it was difficult to listen to my friend speaking. It was cold atmosphere.
Iur server, he was very friendly and helpful. It's not a place to go for dinner. Maybe for happy hour.
Everytime I bring someone by they are so impressed with the food, the creativity, the freshness, the flavors, the presentation and the best service yet. Your staff is amazing
The food is fantastic - enjoyed the lomo saltado and chicken aji. Happy hour drinks are a good special. Great place to eat before heading to Pantages
We went there with 6 after seeing Hamilton only a few blocks away. Its a comfortable environment, the service was great (5:30 so that early) and i'd give it the way thumbs up for beautiful delicious interesting food! Served family style! Very good! We had vegetarians, meat lovers, and low carb dieters. All we so happy!! And everyone could talk easily, too. I also liked that it was casually comfortable. Awesome!!!!
I loved this place! We shared 3 entrees, dried plantains and brussel sprouts, and my vegetarian daughter had an excellent entree just for her. Out waiter, Jonathan, made great suggestions, and they offered a 10% discount when they realized we were headed to see Hamilton at the Pantages Theatre! The food was excellent! We shared lamb, braised short ribs and halibut. Outstanding!
Everything was fantastic. Great food! I would simply recommend they store their red wine bottles in a cool area or wine fridge. Bottles came to the table warm to the touch. Had to put ice in glass just to get to room temp.
The food was top notch and the service was great. Good place for dinner before going to the Pantages.
This was one of the worst dinner experiences We have ever had. We ordered three items and only got one. Finally, after waiting 70 minutes we left because we had a movie at the Arc Light we had tickets for. The one item we got tasted great, but that's it. We walked out hungry and frustrated. The worst service ever. They wouldn't even comp the one item we got. They said "oh, to write that off I would have to get approval of the manager and he's too busy right now." He certainly wasn't busy cooking, that's for sure! So, we left and walked up a block and got a couple of burritos from Chipotle and ate them in the back row of the theatre.
Horrible, horrible service and will never ever go back. Buyer beware.
