Gorgeous atmosphere, gorgeous food, and impeccable service at La Ola. Firstly, gorgeous view overlooking the pool and city of LA — very cute, cozy, romantic vibes especially around sunset time. Cocktails were creative and delicious. We loved the Carajillo Blanco (horchata but with a twist), the Rafiki (fun color + super refreshing), and the El Pica Rico (just the right amount of sweet and spicy). As for the food…the duck carnitas was recommended multiple times and that truly was the standout dish of the evening. Tender, juicy, flavorful … it really lived up to the hype. The guacachile and garnish greens complimented the meat beautifully without taking away from it, not to mention the generous portion of the dish that still left us with leftovers despite being shared by 3 people. The carne asada melts in your mouth. The tuna Caesar tostada was such a fun and fresh take on a Caesar salad. For dessert, the buñuelo and platano macho were the perfect sweet treat. Decadent but not overpowering. Loved the brightness the yuzu added to both dishes, but the buñuelo flan was definitely our favorite. The portions were perfect for sharing and we can definitely say we did not leave hungry.
