A wonderful dining experience!
Great food and drinks
The food and service were outstanding. We waited a long time for the Saturday night reservation. Can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic and quirky all rolled into one! From the appetizer special to the main courses of char and lamb everything is top notch. Wait staff is outstanding and works to meet every accommodation. Will return, and return, and return!
Spectacular dining experience !
Outstanding, eclectic and fun! Great spot for real foodies.
Favorite place in Richmond! Amazing ambiance, super informed staff. Love it every time!
This was one of the best meals we have had in Richmond, absolutely fantastic! The ambiance is nice and quaint. We will definitely be back.
I look forward to making the trip to Richmond for my birthday dinner at L'Opossum. It is the highlight of my dining out year. The menu is a joy to read, and the food lives up to all of the raves. The service is impeccable, knowledgeable without being overbearing.
Had a great evening at L’Opossum with friends. Cocktails were fun and good. Food was delicious. Took a long time to get a reservation but I’m glad we went.
Lived up to the billing! And we had high expectations. We got adventurous with the appetizers trying escargot and others to great acclaim. Then we all got “boring” with a perfectly cooked beef swellington. Drinks were great too. Highly recommended.
It was again perfect in every way. Dining at L’possum is truly an experience , not just outstanding food! The food is the best in RVA without a doubt, but the service, ambiance, food presentation cannot be beat. There is nothing about the evening that I would change.
Bruh. Best fillet in town, very inclusive menu, and great cocktails even if that’s not normally your thang. Pepper grinder was way too small though. Highly recommend.
My life partner and I (60+) enjoyed our meal at L'Opossum. The atmosphere was very nice, a lot of fun with plenty of artwork, both sculpture, paintings and colorful lighting. The service was very good too. However, When I ordered escargot as an appetizer I was very disappointed when it came with only one single snail on the plate. The little garnished biscuit was tasty and the presentation was artsy and appealing, but only one snail. What a rip-off. I've ordered escargot at various restaurants over the years and generally get 4-6 snails. I expressed my disappointment to our waitress, albeit politely, saying how I thought my single snail was "lonely" on its plate. My lobster-macaroni and cheese dish was tasty, but more lobster would have been nice for the $38 price tag. My partner enjoyed her crab cakes which ran about $36, also very pricey. Among other things, I'm a singer-guitar player and my musical tastes are very eclectic. From Beethoven to Merle Haggard. Some of the tunes coming through the restaurant's speakers were pleasant, and I have some French blood in my veins and appreciate how the French can be very eclectic, but during our meal we heard at least half a dozen country-western tunes which I thought was excessive. I believe some cool jazz or even a smidgen of French baroque would have been more appropriate. My partner and I drank water, and I had a cup of coffee. These were the only drinks, and we skipped dessert. Our check came to about $100 and feeling for our waitress we left a $20 tip. So out the door for $120. Very steep, especially considering that "lonely" escargot. We enjoyed our night out but probably will not return to L'Opossum unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Such a fun place. Faberge eggs are to die for!
Went for our anniversary, made the reservation about 2 months before to get in on the weekend. Apps and dinner were good, but desserts and drinks really stood out. Service was great also, would recommend.
A new destination for foodies from DC Creative menu , great service and cool decor. Also, we were compted our appetizers because our table was not ready upon our arrival.
Server was extraordinary. All 6 meals were unbelievably good, from chicken and scallops to lamb shanks and filets. Staff timed their service to the activities of the table, as the six of us were there to visit as much as we were there to eat. We never felt rushed at the table. Appetizers were also amazing, including the faberge egg and the spinach and crab mousse.
Settled in and let it happen....fantastic in every way.
We had such a delightful dinner and evening at your restaurant! We had a special table request which was met with ease and professionalism. Our waitress was absolutely fabulous. She was cordial with excellent descriptions and she answered our questions perfectly. Food was delicious with just the right spices with flavors blending. The spinach purée and crab appetizer was one of the best I have had anywhere. A great evening...THANK YOU
Very lovely dinner. Server was so well informed on all the menu items. What a pleasure.
Excellent experience. Exotic decor good service and delicious food.
I cannot believe it took me this long to make it to L’Opossum! It stood up to all of its recommendations and beyond. Through the curtain was a magical wonderland with the best music and service someone could ask for! Very dreamy dinner spot!
What an experience- incredible ambience, service and food! Everything was incredible and included a few fun surprises! Can’t wait to go back next time we’re in Richmond!
L’Oppossum is a fine restaurant. Service was good, and the ambience and menus were super creative. The problem at L’Opossum is that the food doesn’t justify the price. They offer high end twists on dishes that are otherwise common, but for a $30-$40 entree, I expected to be blown away. I had a filet mignon that was very well prepared... but that’s just what you would expect. We also had a lobster Mac and Cheese ($38) that was honestly just ok as far as taste is concerned. I would say that in Richmond, places like East Coast Provisions offer better food, and excellent experience for slightly less without some of the gimmicks.
Honestly, we ate better food at the Shaved Duck in Midlothian... and that’s, well, not supposed to happen.
One of the best restaurant experiences we've ever had. The food was creative and executed flawlessly. Delicious. The drinks were outstanding as well. Serious food, but the menu was fun and playful. The service was excellent. I wish I could live there. I wish I remembered out servers name because she was awesome. Ryan, the host was so incredibly warm and welcoming. Worth every penny. Would recommend it to anyone who would listen. Can't wait to go back.
Overall, a great meal and a lovely evening. Our waitress was superb. Two negatives kept me from giving it 5 stars across the board: we were on time for our reservation but had to wait over 20 min. for our table; and the lobster in my lobster mac & cheese was tough and pretty tasteless. It was still a good - but not great - dish. All the other things we had were over the top good.
The food was creative and tasted incredible. The server was knowledgeable and friendly.
We had a great experience. Our server, shauna, was fantastic.very knowledgeable and super nice. The food was amazing!
Fabulous as always!!
"L'o" continues to be THE top standout restaurant in Richmond. It's a given, if we are entertaining out-of-town, "foodie" friends visiting us in Richmond, this the food experience that they rave about upon their return. Chef David always tweaks the menu with new specials, to keep things interesting.
The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Our most recent server was Mark, whose dry yet theatrical description of the menu is worth the visit, as he kept our entire table amused and chuckling. Will, the bartender mixologist, is one of Richmond's bests...he is engaging without being intrusive, and he is one of the most friendly, polite, and professional guys around. He also has expert knowledge of the menu, and is happy to offer both drink and food suggestions.
Oh, and check out one of the current house specialty cocktails, which served accompanied by a faux leather jockstrap. Ya gotta admire the creativity of any restaurant who has the "snifters" to offer that!
Excellent food and service. Definitely on my lust to do again.
I went here to celebrate my 30th birthday and i was impressed. Having high hopes i was not let down. The food was amazing!! Service was excellent. And the low lighting with funky music made a perfect atmosphere! Totally worth every penny!
There is no better overall restaurant experience in the city and with our food scene that is saying a lot. Don’t wait for a special occasion - just go!
Great food , eclectic interior, service and front are exceptional. Thanks !
Wonderful atmosphere, waitstaff and food!! We loved it ALL!!!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere.
Fun, intimate, comfortable ambience, great soundtrack for dining and, of course, superb food.
Our favorite Richmond night out. Service is excellent.
Food is fantastic and the decor something to see. Looks like a place Jim Rockford would hang out in. Highly recommended; you really can’t go wrong at L’Oppossum.
