Loosie's Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Went here for the Valentine’s Day prefix menu and it was like a scene out of a sitcom where black ppl go to fancy restaurant only to find the food under cooked and the portion sizes ridiculously small. Ended up at Streets bk soon after for cooked and seasoned food.
Came here for the Valentines Day dinner; was my first time at this location and was originally confused as to where the dining was until I was told it was back towards the kitchen. I was originally impressed with the space as it is surronded by plants in this cool greenhouse like covered patio. Perfect date scene. I knew going into the meal that it was going to be a 4 course tasting menu to share for 120$. You would think that because this a southern restaurant, or known for being a southern restaurant that southern food would be given during the tasting. This wasn't the case at all. The 4 courses were good, but would have been good for one person. If you are going to have a sharing plate, you need to give enough food to share. The main course of the tasting menu was duck, yet there were only 4 pieces of Duck. For a meal to cost 200$ I would like to leave the meal with my girlfriend and I feeling full and satisfied, and this wasn't the case at all. A true disappointment when I was really looking forward to eating here. We ended up have to go to Vanessa's Dumpling House where we spent 10$ and had a more satisying meal. Next time you do a tasting menu, keep with the theme of the restaurant and serve southern food, and please make the portion sizes bigger if you are going to share the plates.
Had been in the past and it was amazing. Basically the regular menu is off the charts. Was in for the Valentine's dinner for two and it was essentially overpriced and alright. Portions were quite undersized and nothing too spectacular for the price. I certainly plan to go back and stick to the regular menu.
Worst experience ever. Have dined at loosie’s before and had a great experience. This time around - The service was absolutely horrendous, waitress was rude, food was terrible and over cooked (we were told there was a new chef), dessert came out melted and runny, drinks took an hour. I would never recommend it again.
The food came out very late and the waitress was very rude to my family and girlfriend’s family. The crown jewel of the experience was when my girlfriend found a metal screw in her waffles. We ended up getting the meal comped. But overall it was a very terrible experience on New Year’s Eve.
Had a great first experience at Loosie's Kitchen. Only negative was that the dining area was really cold, everyone had to eat with their coats on. My pasta was delicious, but also not hot. All the other food and cocktails were great, the waitress was so nice and on top of it and the ambience is really nice.
Delicious fried chicken and beignets to die for! Loosie's Kitchen is a fun place for comfort food with a twist. The service was a little slow, but it was a Saturday night, otherwise we really enjoyed our meal here. The mac and cheese and ricotta appetizer were also outstanding.
Each server/bartender we had, had to apologize for the wait or the poor service.
Drinks tool 15 minutes once ordered, after waiting 15 to order.
We ordered two appetizers and a burger to split--1 app came approx. 30 minutes after ordering and was good. We requested bread with the second appetizer & were then told "the chef insists on toasting all bread, so this may take awhile." We ended up eating the appetizer without the bread as it did take too long. Our "medium rare" burger came out completely raw, and inedible. We sent it back, after being asked if we were going to eat it or not... and then our bread came out.
We were not offered a replacement meal or a drink on the house.
Food was amazing and the ambience of the place was so beautiful. The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars is because the customer service was lacking. I ordered the johnny cakes for my boyfriend and I and after 5 minutes our waiter told us they only had 1 left (which I thought was really odd). So I got the johnny cakes and my bf got waffles and chicken instead. We also ordered orange juice. It took a really long time for our food to come and it wasnt all that crowded. The food was amazing but the girl never brought us our orange juice. I didn't make a big fuss about it. when the bill came I noticed they overcharged us about $30. Our bill shouldve been around $50 bucks and they trued to charge us 86. They forgot to take the orange juice off our order and added an extra brunch entree to our order. It really messed up an otherwise pleasant experience. When I brought it to their attention they were just like oh. Let me fix it. Not even a sorry. Great food. Great ambience. Need better waiters.
Absolutely horrible. I can't believe we didn't walk out as soon as we arrived. Terrible atmosphere. Atrocious service. The food was nothing special. It was so loud, we had to shout to have a conversation. Oh, and there were people having sex in the bathroom. Classy joint!
This is my second time at loosies kitchen. The first time it was empty so the waiters were very attentive and friendly. This time was a little less satisfactory. Although we were on time for our reservations we had to wait a few min to be seated (there were available seats so they weren't waiting for anyone to leave) and once seated we weren't offered drinks/water for at least 15-20 min. I overheard that they were understaff but the waiter they had attending the tables in our area seemed rushed despite it not being overly crowded. It was impossible to track him down to start our order.
We were offered a drink earlier by the bartender as we were waiting for our seats. When we asked the waiter for the same drink he said they don't have that kind of drink-which was false. So my bf went back to the bar and ordered the same drink and was able to get it. Not sure why the waiter was so quick to say they didn't have it without checking. They also ran out of orange juice....??? So random for a BRUNCH place to run out of orange juice (which could be bought nearby at a grocery store) Their chicken biscuit is amazing but the French toast a bit dry. My first experience was amazing however this one left a bad taste in my mouth. The ambiance and setting are beautifully decorated but that shouldn't excuse less than good service and food.
I came here all the way from the Bronx for a low-key and intimate brunch with family and friends. At first we were seated in the back but because the owner knew how much I wanted to sit in the front with all the beautiful scenery, not only did she treat us with complimentary champagne, but she made sure my party and I were able to sit where I wanted for our main course. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and definitely made the trip to Brooklyn for this gem worthwhile. Fried chicken and waffles were amazing, never had a waffle that melted in my mouth the way that Loosie's did!
Yes, the ambiance is amazing. I'd sit in here, heck live here, all day if I could. BUT...
When we arrived for our reservation, on time, the waitress notified us that the kitchen was about to close so we had to hurry and place our orders right away. They shouldn't take reservations for the same time the kitchen closes. It wasn't a great start and it kept getting worse. They were out of every single non-alcoholic beverage (they have any of the delicious sounding juices we wanted to try, which is part of why we picked the spot in the first place). They were also out of one of the main dishes that two of our party was planning to order.
We rushed to order food. They then forgot one of our drinks for 30 minutes. Then a waiter gave us the food that was meant for the table next to us. Luckily we noticed before we bit into it, but it was an awkward moment for the couple next to us too.
It felt like everything kept going wrong.
To top it off, everything was really over priced, including a very small, maybe two sip, $8 grapefruit juice which we ordered because they were out of literally every drink we came there for. They included 20% gratuity for a party of 5 (what?) despite everything going wrong, and we fully unapologetic about the kitchen closing 5 minutes after seating us. I was SO very underwhelmed and still we each managed to spend about $45...
Came to loosies for my birthday. They were able to accommodate a party of 7 but it was a squeeze. Service took a bit long, food portions were small. The whole look of the place is what really brought me there. I ordered French toast and expecting at least two pieces of bread it was just one piece for $10
