Lon's at The Hermosa Ratings and Reviews
Summer night dinners on the expansive patio are the best time to be at Lon’s. Brunch service was wonderful, but we found the dishes themselves to be pretty lacklustre compared to other restaurants of this caliber. Nevertheless, the gorgeous grounds made up for things entirely!
Unfortunately, not a great experience. Our server (Manny?) was not very attentive and rarely checked in on us for refills or to ask if we needed anything else. Luckily, the service assistants made up for it with water/tea refills. Manny didn’t place one order correctly, so one of our guests had to watch the rest of us eat while they remade his omelet. When Manny left to enter the order into the system (I presume), he came back to the table to reconfirm, but had the order incorrect again! Eventually my guest’s meal came after most of us were finishing. Another guest said his eggs were undercooked, but didn’t bother to send them back knowing how long it took for the omelet. Manny apologized, but offered no concessions after the bill came, either. I had to ask an assistant to find him to inquire and they eventually took off the delayed meal from the bill. Unfortunate. This was my favorite restaurant for special occasions.
We have come to depend on Lon's dining being a memorable experience. We go early in the evening and are rewarded with wonderful food and excellent service. The menu is full of great choices, and the wine list offers something for all. Our regular guest from Washington state asks for Lon's to be part of her visit.
We have eaten at Lon’s many times and mostly for special occasions. We met a friend for lunch and were extremely disappointed in the food. We sat outside in the beautiful setting, but the food was well below acceptable. We had a short rib flatbread which barely had any short ribs on it and it was subpar. We also ordered a pastrami Reuben sandwich. The meat was extremely fatty and so tough you had to cut the sandwich with a knife. Our guest had a salad and although they did not comment it appeared to be heavy on greens and very little accompaniments. Although we think it is one of the most beautiful settings in Phoenix we certainly will think twice about returning to this very mediocre eating experience.
You will never be disappointed!!
This is an iconic Boutique Hotel, with an amazing restaurant and bar! At Lon’s, you can enjoy their warm and inviting bar, or dine with them, inside or outdoor patio. The property is beautifully designed “Arizona style“. The views are magnificent! We have never been disappointed in the food and its always spectacular! The entire staff is always warm, friendly, engaging and extremely accommodating.
Absolutely our favorite restaurant in all of Arizona!
We and another couple went to Lon’s to celebrate a birthday and an anniversary. The staff greeted us upon arrival and we were seated at a quiet table in the dining room.
The entrees were each delicious and we find leisurely, enjoying every moment of our evening. We were surprised with greeting cards and dessert from the staff.
Thank you Lon’s for a memorable evening.
Lovely setting, pretty good food but excruciatingly slow service and a waiter with an attitude. The service and the waiter made what we hoped would be an enjoyable lunch for our out-of-town guests not so enjoyable. And, we were one of only three or four tables with diners on the whole patio. We were disappointed as we have enjoyed Lon’s in the past.
Excellent service. Wait staff very friendly and accommodating. The garden is just lovely and highly recommend this as a special place for outside dining. Food is also very good. Had the shrimp and crab salad. Delightful! My only other comment would be that that gal at the front desk, Hannah, be a bit more accommodating and friendly - she seemed a little stoic and distracted. This is a great place and we will be back!
Was on New Years Day. No special meals . regular menu. No on knew who was to wait on us. We sat for over w0 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. When a waiter did, he was so personable. He chose to wait on us. Meal was awkward. Soup came at end of main course.
Disappointed with the restaurant. Will not be 1st choice to go back again.
We came for brunch on Dec 31 which is my birthday. Service was slow all though it did not look busy. I asked for crispy bacon, it was chewy. The scrambled eggs were under done. I had better expectations. It’s a lovely property and I’ve had a wonderful dinner and previous brunch that was better. Won’t go for brunch again but haven’t written it off.
Nice Christmas lunch although the inability to order from the menu was not explained on the Open Table app when we made our reservation. We wanted to be able to order off a regular menu and not a pre-Frix menu. So while the food and service were both really good we did not get what we wanted.
We dined at Lons on Christmas Eve. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our server was top notch! The Somm (Brian) was super helpful suggesting bottles for the table. The food was incredible! We are a family spread across the country but we might make Lons our Christmas Eve spot every year hereafter!
The food, service, and ambiance was fantastic. However, we came for our before-Christmas date with a card from Phoenix Fine Dining Group which Lon's would not accept on a weekend. The black-out dates do not mention weekend restrictions. Overall good experience but disappointed in the miscommunication.
Wow, such an awful experience. Ordered 2 salads, they forgot to bring one so it ended up coming after the first was finished so we had to eat in shifts for course 1. Then steak came out overcooked so had to send it back. Took forever to get new one which meant that again, we were eating in shifts. When new piece came out it was charred on the outside and raw on the inside (and was also just not a good looking piece of meat in general). Again sent it back and they returned with the same piece of meat, charred even more and still not cooked through. Chilean Sea Bass was only okay. They took off one salad and the steak (that we couldn't eat) from the bill, but we still spent over $100 for a terrible experience. So disappointed!!!
Line has been a longtime favorite of our family for many many years however it seems to have lost the magic.. this year was not decorated for the holidays as it use to be and many details have been lost. There 3 different shares of light bulbs in the dining room and I was getting a tan while eating due to a full blast me16 bulbs shining in ny face. There was no ambient music, the staff seems rushed and unfriendly ...
Very disappointing given there are so many options in Phoenix ...
