Lon's at The Hermosa
The atmosphere for for Sunday brunch couldn't have been more lovely on the patio. The service was excellent. The food was not anything special. 2 of us ordered the lemon pancakes and 2 ordered variations of eggs benedict. None of us were impressed with our meals. Perhaps the dinner menu might be more satisfying.
Excellent service and beautiful atmosphere for Sunday brunch. The thick cut bacon appetizer was good, but had way too much fat to eat around. The lobster Benedict was made with small pieces of lightly fried lobster (while it was tasty, this should be noted specifically on the menu) no English muffin or bread, served with yummy roasted potatoes. The dish was served lukewarm. Come for the atmosphere, not for the food.
We had an excellent evening. The ambiance was excellent. We sat indoors next to a fireplace and had good suggestions for food and drink The duck was OUTSTANDING; I will get that again next time I eat there. We definitely will go back.
Wonderful ambiance and the patio is a must in good weather. The food was delicious as a bonus to the superb western ranch feeling with live music in the background. A relaxing way to end a Scottsdale vacation.
Overall it was a great experience and the service was great. I had a dirty plate and fork, so that was disappointing. He place is beautiful and quite. I plan to go again.
Dinner was excellent. Our server Brett was knowledgeable and provided good guidance on the tasting menu(good value ).The patio on a warm March evening is what snowbirds yearn for from the north.
Not only will I recommend this place, but I will be back here on my next visit AND stay at the hotel. Superb!
Food was great. Brussel sprouts were amazing. Mac n cheese was fantastic. Unfortunately our server barely came by to check on us. Had to ask two other servers to refill our drinks.
Lon's is in a charming location. A wonderful slice of vintage Phoenix. This was our second time dining at Lon's although it had been a couple years since we were previously there. We were greeted and seated warmly and cocktail service was great. The service through appetizers and entrees was attentive but unrushed. There was a big gap in coverage (waiter just disappeared for a long period of time) around dessert and coffee but we didn't mind too much as the dining environment was so pleasant.
The food was good not great. The ahi tuna appetizer special which the table shared was sliced unusually thick - maybe 1/2". It was very deliberate on the part of the chef but made for a tougher consistency to the dish that was a bit unpleasant. I had a mushroom risotto which was a bit bland - the consistency was fine - creamy and all that - it just wasn't very savory. Key lime cheesecake dessert was quite good. Other diners reported their food was solid overall. The price tag is not cheap but the ambience made it worth it. I feel like the kitchen could step it up just a tad more.
Lovely! The meal and ambiance were wonderful.
We stopped in for lunch and ate in the patio area. Food was delicious.
Beautiful setting. Flowers and grounds incredible. Wonderful dinner. Recommend tuna appetizer and both steak and halibut entrees. Enjoyed churro tree dessert with unique presentation. Service outstanding. It is expensive. But an evening to remember.
We had a delicious meal in a lovely atmosphere! We sat outside for dinner - the flowers were blooming and there was a fire going. It was perfect. We loved our meal.
Such a wonderful property. It is truly an exceptional place to dine or have drinks and light bites at the bar. The best Manhattan in the area👍
I have been going to Lon's since it opened many years ago. The setting can't be beat and is still as lovely as can be. The flowers as you walk in are outstanding this time of year. The ambience is always wonderful. We had an absolutely delicious lunch - the Caesar with steak and the Shrimp/crab Louie salad. Both were excellent so the kitchen doesn't miss a beat. All in all, it was an outstanding lunch! Can't wait to go back there!
Had a wonderful meal as usual, only one issue was less than 5 star, it was raining heavily and the valet parking attendant left the car where we had to walk in the rain for 30 feet, I ask for an umbrella and was ignored.he could have pulled the car right where we were standing under the large umbrella the resort had put up to cover the walkway
In fairness, maybe I was not heard due to the heavy rain.
I will defiantly return as I love the place
We had a wonderful visit with friends. wine steward was very helpful and the wine was delicious
I would definitely go back. Room was full but noise level was very low.
Wonderful venue, great service and great food. Definitely a place we would go to again
This was our first time here and had requested a patio table; however, It was raining earlier in the day so we were seated inside which was rustic designed but nice. We were sat on a two top table in a side
We started off with oysters and a crab salad which both had great flavor. After those starters we had a bowl of their Tortilla soup and a Scallop/Pork Belly Appetizer. We followed up our appetizers with our entrees of Filet Mignon, for my date, and I had the Lamb. Both were delicious and melted in our mouths. After our great meal, we finished off our dinner with Lon’s Key Lime Cheesecake with Coconut Sherbet. Our server Rodrigo made sure to recommend a good wine with each course.
Overall, the whole experience was delightful and very satisfactory. Our lemon drop martini and margarita on the rocks were good and refreshing as well. Thank you Rodrigo and we shall be back again!
25th Anniversary dinner was great with the team at Lons. Would definitely recommend for special dinners.
If you are looking for a truly "territorial" ambiance, surrounded by olive trees, green grass and exquisite flower-lined garden paths, then I recommend Lon's patio for a special dining experience. The setting is the thing. Now for the service..it was non-stop but not intrusive! The food offered was so beautifully prepared and presented. I asked for an extra favor because we were celebrating a special occasion, and of course they accommodated us with a wonderful addition. Yes, I adore everything about Lon's!
Delightful evening in patio dining. Heaters kept us toasty. Halibut and steelhead were outstanding. Brussels sprout side was fabulous. Can’t wait to return.
Wonderful friendly service, great food in this interesting and lovely location
Wonderful setting on outdoor patio with heaters and multiple fireplaces to keep everyone warm. Great appetizers, many wines to choose from as well as main dishes plus some excellent desserts. Only negative for us was waiter accidentally spilled part of a glass of red wine on my wife's white top. He brought towels & some spray called wine out which got most of the wine color off however there was still some on the top when we got home a& under brighter lights.
The waiter nor other staff offered to replace the glass of wine, cover the cost of our dessert or anything beyond an apology.
Wife’s 75th Birthday.
The sun was shining, the flowers were out and camelback mountain is in view--what could make sitting outside on the patio any better?--good food and good service-- and you get them both at Lon's! Of the four of us two had breakfast and two lunch. The eggs benedict were done perfectly and the lamb burger with quark was first rate. The crab louie was picture perfect as was the blackstone dressing--an upclassed thousand island. The only fly in the ointment was the smoked salmon on a potato cake. Though the salmon was quite good the potato cake was salty and cold but not to worry--add the bacon starter--fabulous-- and the monkey bread-- decadent---and you can forget the shortcomings of the salmon. And nothing beats the churro tree for dessert to share with mexican chocolate, ice cream and fresh strawberries. There is a nice variety of mimosa flavors and the bloody mary with tequila was top notch. If you are looking for an iconic Arizona experience, ambiance that can't be beat, good food, and a place where conversations can still be heard without shouting--then go to Lon's for brunch on Saturday or Sunday and do ask for the patio.
Outstanding in every way. Great food, service, ambiance, and friendly wait staff. Lobster Eggs Benedict...Absolutely delicious!
Words can’t describe the flavor of the brunch we had. Absolutely the best Ranchos Heurvos, avacado toast, lemon picatta pancakes I’ve ever tasted. Ambience was exceptional as well as the waiter who served us. There is no cost consideration with this culinary delight.
Lon’s is always a special experience. Outstanding staff, unique and gorgeous venue, and, of course, terrific food! The service is exceptional and it’s clear that management cares deeply about their customers’ comfort.
Amazing ambience, friendly service and delicious food. We really enjoyed a special evening under the stars!
Great atmosphere and food. Service was exceptional
The Hermosa is a beautiful place, wonderful ambiance and very good food. I do have a few thoughts to share. My husband and I arrived early went into the bar. The 2 bartenders, both behind the bar at the time were talking to a couple seated at the bar and neither could seem to break away to ask me if i'd like something. I was was the only other person there! I finally had to say something. Once we were seated at our table with our 2 friends we were brought water and bread and waited much too long for someone to take our drink order I ordered the mushroom risotto, it was overly salty and the base liquid (chicken or beef maybe) was too strong. Also the mushrooms were huge. I had to cut them into 2-3 bites each. I think they should have been bite size. I had the gem salad which was fabulous, a perfect combination of dressing and vegetables. Finally the bill arrived and I had forgotten to ask to have the check split by couple. I would have appreciated being asked if we would like the check split a certain way. As it was, I suggested to my friends that we put 2 credit cards in and split it in half instead of awkwardly asking our waiter to redo the bill. We had 1 alcoholic beverage to their 4. It wasn't a huge deal and I don't mind doing that for my friends and I know they would for me but it might really bother some people so I'm just giving you feedback.
Lon's is a wonderful destination dining spot. It is in a beautiful setting and the food and service is outstanding. The lads are amazing as are the short ribs. We look forward to our next visit.
A beautiful location, great service, and delicious food!
Great food and service.
As always, the food was awesome. The service was awfully so.
Very warm welcome from Amy! Seated at a lovely quiet table as requested; promptly greeted by Tracy and soon after by Ken our excellent server, both very attentive;
Our meals were superb as was the wine selection; meals consisted of crab salad, the mushroom soup with Gouda that should not be missed, Wagyu strip and tartare, tempura mushrooms, creme fraiche mashed potatoes; a dense chocolate brownie was served up in honor of my husband’s birthday along - what a great touch - with a card from Lon’s signed by the staff. We were bid a warm farewell by Amy who is just a delight. The valets were equally are welcoming and pleasant. What a lovely, lovely evening. Thank you, Lon’s!
Qualified recommendation: Sitting in the garden is beautiful - the patio is one of the prettiest in Arizona the food is very good - as would be expected.
The servers seem to have no training. They are not knowledgeable, are forgetful/uncaring, sloppy, either have not been told their responsibilities or do not communicate with one another. Very disappointing - one of the least professional teams I have experienced in Phoenix.
Overall it was fine.
We had a wonderful experience, beginning with Andrew, who seated us at a lovely table. Tom provided professional and informed service. Our meal of the seared foie gras and filet was exceptional. The ambiance, service and fabulous meal all combined to make an awesome memory! Thanks so much, and thank you to all the chefs!
