We have been to this restaurant many times. The only recommendation is for there to a few more vegetarian choices on the menu. I usually order one of the salads that are very good, but a few more possibilities would be welcome.
Our feelings are that Longbranch is a great place to go for a nice dinner. The restaurant is much bigger than it looks from the street. We were seated in an area that might be outdoors in warmer weather. There were heaters in the ceiling that kept the area toasty. We split the unusual gem salad with persimmons & smoked paprika dressing, had two mains and split the apple tart dessert. The salad was adventurous and would be good for people who are interested in unusual flavor combinations. I had the orecchiette pasta with chard & beef - fabulous, generous serving, and my partner had the pork chop, also quite tasty. We decided to split the pasta and take home the pork chop for sandwiches. If our apple tart was any indication of the desserts, you would be shortchanging yourselves not to order one. The tart was heavenly. We will return and would recommend this place to anyone. Didn't rate five stars, as I think those are reserved for the top top restaurants. It was a good experience, nice & efficient servers, and unusual/delicious food.
Best pork chop! Need recipe ! Best pumpkin crepe brûlée!
My small party had a couple of people with hearing issues, so we hoped for the enclosed, outdoor patio (where it's a bit quieter). Longbranch had a server out there who needed to go home because she wasn't feeling well, so they were going to close the patio and concentrate people in the restaurant. When they understood our situation, they seated us out there anyway, got a great waiter to serve us, made sure the heat lamps were keeping us warm -- and brought us a complementary dessert with a candle for our birthday person.
AND the food was amazing. Simply delicious.
We can't say enough good things about this restaurant and its wonderful staff.
Had a great meal but you have to pay too much to feel you’ve had a satisfying one - i.e., paying over $32. for a steak that has no side dish. Sides all have to be ordered. Okay - except a burger. You get fries with it. This was particularly hard to “swallow” after being in the south of France last month and getting incredible meals that included sides of bread and vegetables. But we’re not in France and that’s the reality in these parts these days unfortunately. I would love this place to be my neighborhood go to but ain’t gonna happen. I’d recommend it for special occasions only or if you have deep pockets. As it is places near me in Emeryville and elsewhere - as we know - are dying fast given the high cost of running a restaurant these days. A most sad state of affairs.
On our third visit to Longbranch for brunch we had another delightful meal. The enclosed patio lets in lots of light and tables are not too close. Our server was helpful and fun and the breakfast choices are elevated beyond typical diner fare without being too out there. Recommend the short rib hash, the fried chicken benedict and an extra side of house-smoked bacon with anything!
Good was great the service was great!! We had very enjoyable time
Great selection of fairly local beers. Small, but fairly interesting, menu.
Amazing Hamburger with irresistible fries! Server was knowledgeable and gracious. We'll be back!
Great bar and high table area for gathering with friends. Great selection of beverages and food.
Food was delicious. Nice place.
This was our first time here -and it won't be the last! Very quiet location with dining areas separated from the Bar/TV scene. Good service, great food. Unrushed!!
Group of 4 diners, this is our 3rd get-together @Longbranch in 6 mos. - no small compliment since our friends have to drive 1 hr one-way to get here! All of us love the food: the cheese curds with excellent housemade dips, the incredible meat and pasta dishes, the amazing salads and sandwiches. Service is generally excellent, and the value quotient is high. One of the three best restaurants in Alameda County.
Just judging by the name only...we would have overlooked this fabulous place ! Luckily, I did do some research, read the great reviews, and made reservations. Glad I did! We had a great meal, great service, and a nice dessert to finish up the evening. We sat in the patio area, casual atmosphere, nice drink/beer selection and a great menu. We hit it right, new fall selections, that hit the spot on a chilly night. I had the mushroom risotto which was fantastic and my husband had the pasta dish with braised beef (forgot the name he couldn't pronounce : ) We split the apple tart a la mode...super rustic and flavorful.
All in all a nice night out, with very nice, friendly and helpful staff.
Pleasant atmosphere, good service, and an outstanding and interesting menu. Food was superb!
The food is delicious. Good service. Good Atmosphere.
We had two apps, one entree to share, two glasses of wine and one cocktail - that cost $90 + tip. Par for the course in the Bay Area, but so is this place - it's the same brick and distressed wood, wall of whiskeys, and $17 burger as every other place calling themselves a 'gastropub' or 'saloon.' The bar seating area gets team service from the bartenders. There were two working that night and it wasn't very full, so we were put off that our first interaction ended when one basically ran away when my date wasn't immediately ready for her drink order. She actually had a few questions about the drink menu, but didn't even have a chance to tell him before he bolted back to the bar like he didn't have a moment to spare. I've been on the other side of the table and bar, and I get that it sucks if you're slammed and people expect you to just stand there while the finally read the menu after staring at their phone until you arrived, but that was not the situation and this dude with a classic hipster 'stache came off pretty rude. His partner (taller hair) took over service for food orders and was great; friendly, helpful, patient. Food was okay but not great - bean salad oversalted, creamy pasta sauce separated - I'd go to Gather, Revival, Juanita & Maude, Plum Bar, or about a dozen other New American places in the East Bay before I'd go back here.
Excellent food as always. Shared a bunch of starters, then two of us had the steak and our friends ordered burgers. They loved them and said the fries were amazing - great quality potatoes, maybe fried in tallow? The seasonal spring salad is a big fav of ours, changing with the seasons but always that mild, low acid, slightly sweet vinaigrette. It's big enough to share, too. Service generally always good. This is one of our favorite places.
My wife and I had a very nice evening out at Longbranch. I had the burger and she had the summer risotto which she said was perfect for a summer evening. My burger was excellent.
Great burger & cocktail! And not so loud that we had to shout.
The food was good. Pricey but good. The ribs particularly are amazing. The risotto is hit or miss. This time was good. The service was slow moving and because I was dining solo I just got overlooked. Especially at the end of my meal. The waiter didn’t spend much personal time with me and I think was clearly more catering to the bigger parties. But I like going to this place for the food so I’ll likely go back. Maybe I’ll try sitting at the bar next time. :/
We love this place! Just wish the menu had more variety. Drinks are amazing and all the servers are exceptional!
Good table location where we felt semi-exclusive for a family gathering to toast our our son and nephew before they head off to college. Waiter was courteous helpful and good natured- the last a must with our irrepressibly quirky group. Thanks to all
Wonderful brunch menu. I had the fried chicken benedict, which was super tasty. The fried pickles and coffee are yummy, too. We sat on the patio, and it was really nice out there. It was easy to have a conversation. Service was excellent. Prices are very reasonable. I will be back.
We love longbranch. Food is not your ordinary bar food. It’s nice to be able to get a drink , watch the game snd have some great food Always a great choice for us
My risotto was so-so. Kids burger was OK, but way over priced. Husband's salmon was ridiculous. It was good, but there was nothing there. Less than 2 oz. of salmon and the focaccia bread was too hard to eat. We went to Jack in the Box to fill us up on top of the $100+ we spent on a subpar dinner.
The chicken and garlic mashed potatoes was perfectly done!
The food wasn’t great and the menu had limited selection.
Second time here... two for two! It was actually difficult to pick a brunch food - it all looked good. Bloody Mary needed some love - a bit wimpy. The donut holes are super yummy!
Reuben and burger were outstanding. Duck hash was okay, big pieces of potato instead of a finer dice but confit duck was EXCELLENT--washed of salt as it should always be but so seldom is. Time to change desserts though - very good but we've had them multiple times in the last few months. Yes, we're fans of the chocolate budino and want it to return to the menu, LOL!
Best ribeye ever!!! It - and the service and the generous pours and great bourbon selection and the calm noise level - keeps me coming back!
Service was excellent and food fresh and delicious! Portions are large and the beverage menu is really large. The ambiance is great and we could all hear one another which doesn’t happen often in restaurants these days. High recommendation - we will be back!
Consistently good entrees and cocktails. Attentive, but not overbearing wait staff.
We always have a great evening at Longbranch. The food is great and reasonably priced, servers are professional and personable, the vibe is fun.
Hamburgers are great but other food not so much. Server slow to refill drinks. Noisy.
We are carnivores and love Longbranch's meat entrees. But we brought a flexitarian friend and she was wowed by the vegetarian and fish dishes. Not a large menu here but no need for one - what they offer is done very well indeed. Salads are excellent, as are the desserts. Very pleased to have discovered this restaurant.
Seated right away with a reservation for brunch. Bloody Mary was disappointing...very plain & just like tomato juice. Food was good. Service quick.
Good food, excellent service, beautiful setting. My Manhattan was top notch. I plan to try a fish dish next time because the plates which passed my table smelled divine!
After much fanfare from a friend, I was very disappointed. The bean salad was okay. But, the carbonara was awful - watery, flavorless, and the mystery meat was miniscule - didn't finish it.
Long Branch (it's actually 2 words, not 1) is a bar with very, very good food. The staff is well trained and the food consistent/reliable. Excellent meat dishes, wonderful salads. Obviously a great beer list - don't miss the charmingly named "Free Kittens"! Small patio area gets noisy when full. Shares a kitchen with Paisan next door. Paisan/Long Branch make their own fresh cheese in-house - don't miss a dish that contains them, whether it's fried cheese curds or a wonderful deconstructed vegetarian lasagne. Note that vegans will find it hard here, it can be done but it's really best for carnivores and vegetarians.
