About Lonesome Dove Western Bistro - Fort Worth
Chef Tim Love’s flagship restaurant, Lonesome Dove Western Bistro first opened in 2000, in Fort Worth’s Historic Stockyards District, and quickly became the city’s premiere dining establishment. Love has designed a menu influenced by all of the ingredients and cultures that have been a part of the West since the first adventure began on the Goodnight-Loving and Chisholm Trails — with an added level of modern sophistication. Love’s food at Lonesome Dove reflects his famously unique “Urban Western” cuisine, celebrating his creative uses of bold flavors and wild game, with an inventive selection of steaks and seafood to dishes such as Wagyu Tomahawk, Kangaroo Carpaccio, Rocky Mountain Elk Ribeye, Wild Boar Ribs, and Rabbit & Rattlesnake Sausage. The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro has received numerous awards and critical acclaim from Wine Spectator, Food & Wine, Zagat Survey, Southern Living, Esquire, The New York Times, Fort Worth Star-Telegram and The Dallas Morning News, and more.

Lonesome Dove Western Bistro - Fort Worth Ratings and Reviews
AMAZING. We love Fort Worth and this is now our favorite dining spot. Lobster hush puppies are absolutely wonderful and so were the Elk sliders. Great wine selection. We had the garlic tenderloin and flank steak as our entrees. Both very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Waitstaff was attentive and very pleasant. A must try if your in Fort Worth or at Billy Bobs.
Great food. Great Wine. Great service. Great drinks. This is NOT the ideal place for vegans. As a friend asked, "find us the ultimate Texas Steakhouse Experience." Thanks to the entire staff for making our friends and family experience one that will always be remembered. 101 out of 100.
Food and wine were superb and highly rated by all in our party of 7. Liked the starters by the piece per person. Beef, elk and lamb were outstanding.
Only negative was a flippant remark by a server who said "it sure is warm in this corner" when clearly it was not. Our table location was in second dining room which was quiet, but a bit cool due to the location of table to the outside walls. Really not a remark I would expect when bill was about a grand.
Our second visit to Lonesome Dove. We are huge fans of Tim Love’s Woodshed restaurant and really enjoyed our visits here as well. Unfortunately I can not review the food so spectacularly as on our prior experience. Had it not been for bacon and jalapeños, my salad would have been absolutely tasteless. Even worse was the octopus dish I selected. Having had octopus in the past, I know how good it can be; this was barely mediocre with its rubbery texture and disinteresting taste. On any other day I would’ve likely sent the last item back, but my husband wasn’t feeling well, and I just didn’t have the time or energy to deal with that. Honestly, though, at. such a nice restaurant this shouldn’t have even been served.
The place was gorgeous and tastefully "cowboy western." The service, great! We had the filet with garlic and the trout entree — both delicious, but not exceptional for the price, which was a bit higher than a few other lovely restaurants where we dined while visiting Fort Worth, for a bit less. However, it was around the corner from The Stockyards in an older 'downtown,' which might speak for the higher dollars. We enjoyed our evening!
We've been to this restaurant several times and this was by far our worst experience there. It took an extremely long time for our entrees to arrive to us (1 hour +), and the food didn't seem to be up to par this time. We were sitting in an overly crowded and tight room and there was a party of people next to us who were literally screaming at the top of their lungs ALL NIGHT LONG. This made our dining experience and the dining experience of everyone else in the same room uncomfortable to say the least. When you go to a restaurant and pay upwards of $300 for a meal, you expect that meal to be top notch and for the atmosphere to be much better than this. My family and the other party we were dining with all decided this will be our last visit to this restaurant.
First, we loved this restaurant. It was our first time here.
Travis, our waiter was very cordial and professional, he did an awesome job.
Food was excellent.
Noise level got high when the restaurant got full.
Our only disappointment: the coffee. We ended our evening with a request for an Irish coffee and a Godiva Latte. Sticker shock!! The Irish coffee was $8.50 and the Latte was $16.00 ($10 for the Godiva and $6 for the Latte). Too much for a very very average American coffee.
We spent close to $300 for our dinner and we didn't mind paying a premium for a well prepared and unique meal but the coffee felt like a rip-off. It left a "bitter" taste on a very good evening.
Took some important customers there. We arrived in Fort Worth at 5:30pm and reservations were at 8:30. Had to keep them occupied for 3 hours, all the while second guessing the wait. Had several conversations with the group about eating else where vice waiting 3 hours. We chose to wait because I felt they would be happy with Tim Love's place.
It was well worth the wait and it lived up to the hype. We were pretty much full after the first course, but we pushed on until the end. My customers said it was well worth the hype and they were stuffed. "Best meal ever" were the meals from a few from the group. Hats off to the chefs and the staff for an excellent evening.
This was not my first time at this restaurant and will not be my last.
