About Lonesome Dove Western Bistro - Fort Worth
Chef Tim Love’s flagship restaurant, Lonesome Dove Western Bistro first opened in 2000, in Fort Worth’s Historic Stockyards District, and quickly became the city’s premiere dining establishment. Love has designed a menu influenced by all of the ingredients and cultures that have been a part of the West since the first adventure began on the Goodnight-Loving and Chisholm Trails — with an added level of modern sophistication. Love’s food at Lonesome Dove reflects his famously unique “Urban Western” cuisine, celebrating his creative uses of bold flavors and wild game, with an inventive selection of steaks and seafood to dishes such as Wagyu Tomahawk, Kangaroo Carpaccio, Rocky Mountain Elk Ribeye, Wild Boar Ribs, and Rabbit & Rattlesnake Sausage. The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro has received numerous awards and critical acclaim from Wine Spectator, Food & Wine, Zagat Survey, Southern Living, Esquire, The New York Times, Fort Worth Star-Telegram and The Dallas Morning News, and more.

Lonesome Dove Western Bistro - Fort Worth Ratings and Reviews
The service was very good! The food is very average and not worth the price! There was one exception, the lamb, one lollipop as it was termed, was very good. It was our 32nd year anniversary and after informing the restaurant when making reservations and when we arrived it was not recognized. The area we were seated was so dark we could not read the menu without a light from our telephones. Return, no, my wife and I will not return. We will go to the Capital Grill in downtown. There special occasions are treated as special events and you can read the menu without flashlights and the food is outstanding!!
We have been to the lonesome dove several times and always love the food. Food this time was great again but the service was really slow especially between the second and third course. We waited more than 45 minutes from the time we finished our salads and chili (both were great) before our main dishes came to the table. May have been due to a busy night but didn’t seem overly busy to us. Chalking it up to a fluke and will go back again
Great food and service! The sliders and “hush puppies” are so tasty. They had a large group that slowed service, but they gave us some extra treats throughout our meal as a compensation. We didn’t even complain the service was slow. They just wanted to make sure we were happy and enjoying the evening.
Great spot! We sat in the downstairs wine cellar which we liked a lot. The cocktails are awesome, definitely go for the stockyard smoker if you like a smokey whiskey drink. The jalapeno cucumber marg was good too. We had the lobster hushpuppies to share. I had the butter lettuce salad and roasted garlic stuffed tenderloin. All delish! The service was great, our waiter was attentive and friendly. He made great recommendations.
If you are looking for something a little nicer in the touristy area of FW, we came here before the rodeo and it was perfect.
Great selection of unique game food items and creative cocktails. We ordered a sampler of each of the appetizers, the signature chili and the elk dish. The food was interesting and delicious. And the service was outstanding! It was a really enjoyable experience.
Make sure you have the cash to afford this place. Lonesome Dove was very tasty and great for a business dinner or special occasion. I was there on business with an unlimited budget and I felt it was still too much $$ for the experience. Don't get me wrong - I loved the meal, wine selection, and service. Just not at $100+/per person (and that was without dessert). Making it a bit more reasonably priced (doesn't have to be significant reduction) would help encourage me to eat there more often. For now, once or twice a year is what this place will generate for me, if that.
A family favorite! We had our anniversity dinner there last weekend and took our three adult children and their dates. The service we received was amazing and the food was incredible! The Seared Lamb Lollipops will melt in your mouth! A must have! We started a family book there a while back and very happy with our family tradition at Lonesome Dove!
We celebrated out wedding here last year and enjoyed it so much we returned to celebrate our first anniversary. The food is outstanding. We were seated as soon as we arrived and Brandon provided very attentive service. We were given a card signed by the staff to celebrate our occasion and they surprized us with some complimentary treats at the end of our meal. I would like to try one of the other dining areas. The front dining area is great for people watching but it can be loud for an intimate dinner. We love the Lonesome Dove! Cheers.
Couldn't have been better taken care of... My husband and I flew in from Nebraska to meet several of our friends in from Australia. A local friend of mine recommended Lonesome Dove as a must dinning experience for us all. Our party of 7 arrived for our 8:30 reservations. We were seated and perused the menu. The rabbit and rattlesnake sausage is a must! Our fabulous waitress (Sonya I believe) was patient and offered up fantastic recommendations. We all ordered our food and beverages. The wine, beer and conversation flowed for a good hour plus and our main courses had yet to arrive. Once they did they were delicious! No one had any complaints. Then Sonya (I really hope I remember that correctly) tells me that our entire bill was covered due to the delay in our service! What!!?? This was a surprise as this was not prompted by anyone in our party! Already pleased with our food and our waitress this act of service was above and beyond. It really made an impression on everyone! Joe and Christian (Managers) really stepped up. Needless to say I highly recommend dinning here not only is the food fantastic but the Southern Hospitality is superb! From Myself and the Aussie's thank you for a wonderful evening!
Had a special anniversary lunch while also getting to visit the Stockyards (a favorite place). Food was outstanding, and the service was extraordinary. Very helpful with dietary restrictions and wine selection. Knew it was an anniversary and treated us accordingly. Worth every penny spent. Look forward to going back.
Our service was great and didn’t miss a beat. The shortcoming was the entree. I ordered the chicken fried steak. The meat was great but the breading was overwhelming and flat. I ended up removing the breading and just eating the meat. I have historically really enjoyed this restaurant and perhaps this was just an off night on the meal. I was also a bit disappointed that the bourbon menu was not up to date. The first two I requested were out of stock.
