Our group used this as an opportunity to sample the unusual selection of a 5 star chef. All 3 of us loved the wild boar ribs appetizer. The rattle snake-rabbit sausage was also fantastic. Each of us selected a different lunch item. We were all very happy with the entire meal.
Good food, good experience. Not worth the money.
Great experience, especially for out of town visitors. Slightly overpriced for what you get. We had three appetizers...favorite was the elk sliders. The other two had so many flavors going on, it was impossible to get a true taste of the featured ingredient.
We had been to Lonesome Dove several times and enjoyed it, but this visit was disappointing. It started when the hostess tried to seat us next to the kitchen even though there were several open tables at better locations. The service was extremely slow and our waiter acted like he didn't want to be there. At one point he delivered my drink to the next table. The food was ok, but not as good as was expected. The dessert menu was disappointing. I do not expect to return anytime soon.
This is an awesome place to go! I wanted to take my girlfriend somewhere special for her birthday and it was. The service was spot on but not intrusive. The food was amazing! This is one place we will be back for.
We've lived in Dallas only a few weeks, and have been looking for that restaurant where the cooking staff pay great attention to each serving - ensuring each is as well executed as it can be. Craft in Dallas disappointed us last week (Craft in NYC is spectacular in that regard though) - hopefully just an off night. Nonetheless, we were looking to rebound when making reservations at The Lonesome Dove. From the first course through dessert, we couldn't have been more pleased. Admittedly, we were drawn to the rattlesnake/rabbit sausage as a novelty - but a good one. We thoroughly enjoyed EVERYTHING served (well, the salad's smoky bacon "lardoons" were a bit much). The wagyu skirt steak is as good as beef gets. We'll be back with guests.
Had a great dining experience with my wife. Everything was excellent. Word of advice, listen to the staff for advice on the menu. We were never steered wrong.
Cowboy gourmet. Incredible wine list. Great location. Will return ASAP.
I was totally impressed. Server was knowledgible of menu as well as the preparation of the items. The only thing missing was that TIM wasn't in the house. I will go back whenever I annum Ft. Worth
We loved the food, waitstaff and atmosphere. We are coming back next week with friends. First time in a very long time that my steak was prepared correctly, flavor was beyond words.
Great dinner. Kangaroo nachos were excellent and elk was also great. Brussel sprout ice cream tasted more like vanilla, but it was an interesting effort. Had reservations and had to wait 15 minutes to be seated.
The food and experience were wonderful. The wait staff and host were very accomodating. Having been a server in the past, I can easily say that Michael is a superior server. The Wagyu Tomahawk was great but is definitely meant for two people unless you are a big eater. I thought it was garnished with a lobster tail, but in fact, it comes with an entire lobster. The signature filet is melt in your mouth tender, and the wild mushroom orzo "mac & cheese" is nothing short of addictive. The desserts were the perfect end to an excellently prepared meal. We had a wonderful time.
The food was unique and delicious. I loved every bite!
Had the Wagyu skirt steak. It was so good. It melted in my mouth. Tim Love, the owner was there and he was walking around talking to the diners which was a nice addition. In the past, I have always liked the garlic encrusted beef tenderloin, but next time it will be a hard decision which to choose.
A terrific spot for an anniversary dinner.
Where do I begin?? Absolutely amazing restaurant. The food was outstanding and perfectly reflective of what fine dining should be but also easily accessible to those who don't constantly have their heads in food magazines or cookbooks. The service was impeccable and made our anniversary dinner an unforgettable experience. Food was perfectly cooked and flavors perfectly complementary. We will definitely be coming back.
The fare is interesting and different. We had the rattlesnake and rabbit sausage appetizer along with the scallops. Both great, and it's cool that they let you mix and match your starters. We also had a beautiful Pinot Noir from Oregon. But my pear salad and the beef tenderloin seemed a bit heavy on salt and dressing/sauce. Overall good - well worth experiencing!
Unbelievable food, service and drink menu. This place has it all and it is among the best places in the metroplex. We eat here all teh time, despite dropping several hundred dollars for two people each time. I can't say enough good things about this amazing eatery. The jalepeno margarita is just spicy enough to make you drink it quickly! I don't care that they are north of $10 a piece, I will drink them all night long (hence teh hundreds of dollars per meal)! The rattlenake appetizer is great. The steaks are incredibly seasoned and cooked perfectly. Desserts change, but always delight.
While the main course was very, very good, the appetizers stole the show.
All in all pretty good dinner this summer. But not worth the drive from Dallas when we have so many great restaurants near by.
After hearing about Lonesome Dove for years, I am glad I finally took the trek down to the stockyards to try it out. The food is very eclectic and unlike anything else here in the metroplex. The sweet potato chili relleno was amazing.
Excellent dining experience. Great and unusual food selections. Look forward to going back again.
Cool theme and unique bites. A cool experience but too expensive for the food served. I've been twice and I probably will not return at over $100 per person with inexpensive wine selected. If you're going to spend $100+ per person, go dine somewhere impressive versus a tourist restaurant nicely located in Ft. Worth. Much better exists in the DFW area for the same or less money.
Outstanding. Truffle mac is a must have.
Excellent, expensive gastronomic experience. Great steaks and Venturesome menu such as the rattlesnake/rabbit sausage and boar ribs appetizers. Excellent Foodies spot.
Returned for the 2nd time, not as good, service was poor and the food was average. Waiter was rehearsing lines we overheard from other tables twice before we got the story and was half paying attention. Steak was second rate. Maybe we caught them on a bad night . Not in a hurry to return.
The food here was not bad, but it was nothing to write home about other than the types of meats offered. They serve things here that you won't find any other place, however, I think they spend too much time on what's unique and will get people buzzing and not enough on the actual appeal and flavor. Even the bacon was lacking flavor. For the price I will stick with Del Frisco's. If I want to eat at a Tim Love restaurant, I will stick with his fantastic burgers at the Love Shack.
What an experience!!! Went for date night all the way from Mississippi, having seen the place and recommendations on Food Network, and it was well worth the drive (ride). Of course, had the steak and lobster and it was all that you could imagine, plus!! It was a special evening I will always remember, as my handsome date was kind enough to add a cookbook to the bill.
While I'd been to Ft. Worth's Lonesome Dove Bistro before, my sister hadn't so... What a tremendous experience!! Every bite was a culinary adventure, from the appetizers (do a sampler people!!) to the Brussel sprout ice cream (exactly what it sounds like!) Our server was knowledgeable, very personable and was never scarce nor obtrusive and the chefs were a group of very cool, very professional "dudes!!" After dinner take a walk through the stock yard and soak up the vibe at the heart of Ft. Worth.
If you're looking for something a little more main stream, the signature beef tenderloin will melt in your mouth. If you want to be a little more adventurous, they can serve that up too, Chef Tim Love does it right GO TO LONESOME DOVE... SOON!!!
Everything was excellent except the noise level. It was so loud we could not carry on a conversation with our tablemates nor hear the server very easily. And it was incredibly cold. We noticed other diners shivering also.
One of the best meals we've ever had. Don't miss the Elk-Sausage sliders!
Awesome. Simply awesome. An ecelctic and varied menu, with tantalizing suprises for the tastebuds in every course. We sampled several appetizers, and each was unique and delicious. The Jalapeno/Cucumber Margarita from the bar was exceptional, and tasty! And the main courses (Elk and hand-cut steaks) were beyond delicious. And the service was dead-on...polite, helpful, efficient, and non-obtrusive. Ranks right up there as one of our all-time favorites...and the next time we're back in the DFW are will make another special trip to dine there!
For adventurous diners: lots of game selections! We tried many of the appetizer and dinner selections. All were delicious.
This is a very unqiue and special restuarant, one of our all time favorites. We enjoy reading the menu, and tasting something new, each and every time.
This place is pricey, but excellent. Seemed to me that the wine prices were too high for what they were. Our food was wonderful, I had the garlic tenderloin and my DH had elk. Couldn't eat dessert. Next time we will go for just appetizers so we can try the desserts! Carter was a great server.
I had a pretty good meal. I had the rabbit & rattlesnake sausage, homoney & Elk with brussel sprout ice cream. I would have been happy with my evening if it was only me that ate. Now My wife had a yellow squash soup, yukon mash, white truffle mac & cheese, & red snapper over crawfish bisque. We had a problem with every one of these items. The Yellow squash soup with creme fraiche was very dissapointing as the spiciness overpowered the suttleness of the squash, actually you couldnt taste the squash at all. The creme fraiche was squirted in a design of a star in the soup in a thin line, considering how little was used it lost its coolness as soon as it hit the soup. We both would have prefered less spice and more creme fraiche.
The food there is ALWAYS fantastic!
My favorite restaurant for special occasions. Although it is fairly expensive, I have never regretted going there.
Foot was incredibly AMAZING!!! Chef Love is a GENIUS!
This was one of the best dinners we have had. The elk sausage slider appetizer got thumbs up, the roasted garlic tenderloin and the Wagyu skirt steak were perfectly cooked and delicious. The dinner was perfectly capped with a delightful goat cheese cake and coffee.
Service was fast and friendly. They have options to either eat inexpensively or go all out and spend quite a bit. Either way you'll enjoy it.
