About Lonesome Dove Western Bistro - Fort Worth
Chef Tim Love’s flagship restaurant, Lonesome Dove Western Bistro first opened in 2000, in Fort Worth’s Historic Stockyards District, and quickly became the city’s premiere dining establishment. Love has designed a menu influenced by all of the ingredients and cultures that have been a part of the West since the first adventure began on the Goodnight-Loving and Chisholm Trails — with an added level of modern sophistication. Love’s food at Lonesome Dove reflects his famously unique “Urban Western” cuisine, celebrating his creative uses of bold flavors and wild game, with an inventive selection of steaks and seafood to dishes such as Wagyu Tomahawk, Kangaroo Carpaccio, Rocky Mountain Elk Ribeye, Wild Boar Ribs, and Rabbit & Rattlesnake Sausage. The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro has received numerous awards and critical acclaim from Wine Spectator, Food & Wine, Zagat Survey, Southern Living, Esquire, The New York Times, Fort Worth Star-Telegram and The Dallas Morning News, and more.

Lonesome Dove Western Bistro - Fort Worth Ratings and Reviews
if you want to have a really good meal and a real Fort Worth Stockyards experience, this is the place. The food is really fantastic and the atmosphere is pure western. The option to share 3 different appetizers is a must as it was really hard to choose. The pork lollipops were awesome and the rabbit and rattlesnake sausage pretty fantastic. Everything arrived at the right time, the staff was just right too. We didn't have room for desert, but it looked great too.
Nice location in the heart of the stockyards. Gorgeous, intimate atmosphere but I expected better food. Elk sliders are a lot of bread (though the bread is made in house), the grilled chicken salad was rather bland. The table bread was mediocre. The hostess was on the phone and did not acknowledge us on entry with a smile not a wave. A waitress sat us and she was very polite and enjoyable. My friend and I split the check and though we both signed our receipts for half the check, my bank shows I was charged the full amount. If you’re a fan of Tim Love, I recommend The Woodshed over this establishment.
Top notch food, service, atmosphere. It truly doesn’t get any better than that! The wait staff is friendly but never too chatty and they make you feel like you’re their focus no matter how busy they are. And the food...the most delicious no matter what you order. We’ll be back!
We enjoyed Lonesome Dove overall. The only disappointment was that they ran out of the salad option by 8:00, which we had both looked forward to. Instead, we opted for the shrimp appetizer, and honestly, for the price, it was extremely disappointing. I would never order that again -- four shrimp for about $16-17.00 or something ridiculous.
But yes, overall, we'll go back, and enjoyed it very much.
This was our second time to dine here and it was spectacular. Oue server Brian was brought his A game and helped us decide to try the Elk Sausage Sliders; it is one of the best things I have ever eaten. My date and I shared the Waygu Tomahawk Ribeye for two which was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The Wild Mushroom - Truffle Orzo is down right addicting. The manager stopped by for a few minutes and was very helpful as well. This is one of our favorite Date Night places.
Jalapeño cornbread a must. Complementary.
Cucumber cocktail a taste of heaven.
Sliced pickled veg salad w/ smoked tomato vinaigrette. Plain, simple, healthy and delicious. It failed delivering a Smokey flavor.
Mac n cheese could be bettter. Using orzo.
Not much texture due to pasta. More mush!
Butterscotch dessert was outstanding!!!
Great old country tunes!
Nice seating area in back. S’mores on fire.
Kitchen wear white cowboy hats. Amusing!
Very educated staff on menu and drinks.
This visit was our anniversary, and 2nd time we had been to Lonesome Dove. They have a special priced Prime Rib with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes. The speciality drink menu offered drinks I had never heard of but turned out to be exceptional including presentation. The Prime Rib 16oz. cut perfect medium rare was tender and very tasty. The Appitizers were also unique and very tasty. Highly suggest trying this restaurant for lunch on Friday's for the special Prime Rib, and 1/2 price wine bottles. Servers were great.
The food was very good, but we experienced serious service issues, with timing from the kitchen and the server getting separated from one another, and my having to communicate two times with the server and the manager about the timing of delivery on our entrees. I understand mistakes happen, and we were surely accommodated with wine and dessert being comp-ed, but at some point (when you are paying +$40 for an entrée in Fort Worth) there simply should not be mistakes as were made with us. There are few less expensive restaurants in Fort Worth. I have been to St. Emilion numerous times and have never had service issues as I experienced here last Saturday night. If given a choice, I will not return. It troubles me that they charge what they charge for dinner and they have even the potential to provide bad service.
AMAZING. We love Fort Worth and this is now our favorite dining spot. Lobster hush puppies are absolutely wonderful and so were the Elk sliders. Great wine selection. We had the garlic tenderloin and flank steak as our entrees. Both very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Waitstaff was attentive and very pleasant. A must try if your in Fort Worth or at Billy Bobs.
Great food. Great Wine. Great service. Great drinks. This is NOT the ideal place for vegans. As a friend asked, "find us the ultimate Texas Steakhouse Experience." Thanks to the entire staff for making our friends and family experience one that will always be remembered. 101 out of 100.
