Chef Tim Love’s flagship restaurant, Lonesome Dove Western Bistro first opened in 2000, in Fort Worth’s Historic Stockyards District, and quickly became the city’s premiere dining establishment. Love has designed a menu influenced by all of the ingredients and cultures that have been a part of the West since the first adventure began on the Goodnight-Loving and Chisholm Trails — with an added level of modern sophistication. Love’s food at Lonesome Dove reflects his famously unique “Urban Western” cuisine, celebrating his creative uses of bold flavors and wild game, with an inventive selection of steaks and seafood to dishes such as Wagyu Tomahawk, Kangaroo Carpaccio, Rocky Mountain Elk Ribeye, Wild Boar Ribs, and Rabbit & Rattlesnake Sausage. The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro has received numerous awards and critical acclaim from Wine Spectator, Food & Wine, Zagat Survey, Southern Living, Esquire, The New York Times, Fort Worth Star-Telegram and The Dallas Morning News, and more.

Lonesome Dove made special accommodations for my reservation without any fuss. The food and service were both outstanding! The valet was very efficient, courteous and prompt both upon arrival and departure. It is truly one of the best restaurants in Fort Worth. I highly recommend it!

Outstanding service and food. Seriously the best steak (Wagyu Tomahawk) we have ever ate. So worth the price.

Good food and waiter was great, but they don't list the cocktail prices and one of them was awful, and even though I complained nothing was done and I had to pay $15 for a drink I couldn't finish. It semi ruined the night even though the food was great. Beware of their crappy cocktail menu.

They ran out of the only green salad on the menu.
We asked for a particular bottle of wine which we know costs approx $35.00 The waiter was very familiar with the wine but said they didn’t have it. He suggested one that he felt was very similar. We ordered it. We waited at least 15 maybe 20 min for it to arrive. When it did for some reason I thought to ask how much it was. He didn’t know. He left the table. Another 10 min went by. He came back and said it was $90. 00. We declined and were dissapointed and felt he had tried to pull one over us. He then suggested the house wine. We agreed and waited another 10-15 min. for it.
The food was delicious, however we felt $15.00 for 2 Kangaroo nachos is high and the whole wine thing left a bad taste.

The bartender got a little snippy when I asked why she demanded we settle our bar bill instead of keeping it open and combining with our dinner and paying one bill.

Well, we returned this evening for dinner after having dined at Lonesome Dove back in 2000 when it first opened. I guess I had been put off over the years by the $$. But the $18 6oz garlic stuffed tenderloin 18th birthday special drug us back in tonight. And I am so glad it did. We will be back. Soon.

Ambiance? Perfecto. Noise? Yeah, and an issue for someone like me with hearing issues. But who cares? My wife can hear the server for us. Service? Spot on. We had no less than three or four servers in addition to our primary server spontaneously attend to our table to take care of this and that during out meal.

Our server suggested we assemble a sample plate of first course apps which we did. We ordered two of the Hamachi tostadas and two of the Yellowfin tuna wonton chips with tomato onion relish. Mind you, these are very small portions, but each was delicious. I especially would have loved to find twice as much Hamachi on the little tostada, but why quibble. The flavors were spectacular.

We followed this with the butter lettuce, applewood smoked bacon lardons, spiced pepitas and chili buttermilk dressing salad. Very, very nice. Well balanced and flavorful. And the bacon lardons were divine. Just gimme these lardons as an entree!

Our tenderloins were cooked perfectly and the Western Plaid Hash on which they rested was really wonderful. I ate it all first. Very finely julienned potatoes fried to super crisp perfection, mixed with sautéed shredded red cabbage and thinly sliced red onions. Delish.

This steak is served with three very tasty asparagus spears. If we had known that we would have not ordered a side of sautéed spinach. All of which we brought home along with the rest of our steaks (we're like old and don't eat much). However, I tasted it and it is lovely. Especially because of the sweet roasted garlic with which it is cooked.

I cannot wait to return. We love Tim Love's Woodshed, but this is the cat's pajamas.

Everything we had was great. The wild boar ribs the lamb chops the wagu steak the buffalo ribeye it was all over the top. The service was great. The atmosphere was great. Nothing was rushed. You could talk to each other and not hear others. I have been here 3 other times and have not had a bad night.

I usually stop in for Friday prime rib lunch. But dinner was such an extraordinary experience. I enjoyed the signature garlic tenderloin and some exotic appetizers. I was not disappointed. The food was amazing and service outstanding. The tenderloin was cooked to perfection, but I couldn’t get over the sauce on top. I don’t typically put sauce on my steak so I was surprised to see it covered with something. However, the sauce did not take away the flavor or taste of the tenderloin. It was a nice compliment. I recommend the scallops appetizer. And if you’re interested in something unique try the kangaroo nachos.

Got there 15 mins before the reservation. Waited 30 minutes before the manager came over to tell us they were backed up, and comped our drinks at the bar. They seated us in the wine cellar area, which was extremely noisy. The waiter requested we order the whole meal up front, as they were really busy, and that would provide better service. The appetizer we ordered was supposed to be three portions of sausage. They only brought two, and then several minutes later sent out the third, which was missing the hash brown portion of the bite. So much for efficiency. We had a show at Billy Bob's that started at 10:30, and we were late. Very disappointed in Lonesome Dove, have been going there for years. What is the point of a reservation if you can't depend on the restaurant to honor it?

Wanted to take my father out for a “different” type of dining experience. I chose this restaurant because they serve many different types of game meats. The atmosphere and waitstaff were beyond excellent. I expected the food to be good. My expectations were blown away! The wagyu skirt steak was the best steak I have ever eaten! I will absolutely recommend this establishment any time I have someone asking for recommendations!
