London Lennies Ratings and Reviews
First time and hopefully not the last. The Corn & Crab Chowder was outstanding! They offered a pre Restaurant Week dinner that was on point with all three options. I had the Shellfish Steamer Bag and was not disappointed. The lobster was 1-1/2 lbs! My friend had the Branzino and was immensely pleased.
Neighborhood gem. The good: good quality raw bar, of course the bread, the kids dishes and portions. The not-so-great: New England Clam Chowder was all celery with maybe 3 clams chopped up (bowl size); the bread can be hotter; difficult to park and the valet leaves you car in non-parking zones on the street.
London lennies has been on my list for 2 decades. Fish was good but the accompaniments are lackluster and unimaginative. They never seem to have fresh appealing vegs - today was over cooked broccoli and a baked potato. It hasn’t moved on in decades
I had noted that it was a birthday celebration and this was not acted upon by the restaurant.
Probably my last visit.
Great food everything was fresh and well prepared but the worst service! We had to ask for things that should have been brought to the table if the servers had common sense. We ordered a cold seafood tower which was delicious but had to aske three different people to bring us cocktail sauce we were half way through the tower when one person brought it! And then they brought one little cup for four people!! We ordered a pasta and had to ask muktiple times for grated cheese. We ordered fish we had to ask for lemons! What made it worse was the waitress joked about how long we would have to wait to get theses things, we didn’t see the humor in it. The service was terrible !
Food is always good here. 2 complaints. We needed a table for 2 and they put us at a small table. when I asked for a larger more comfortable table I was told those were for parties of 4. In the meantime there must have been 2-4 couples seated at the larger tables. Very annoying. When the check came, I used a gift card and a tip of 20% was automatically added. When I questioned this the server acted like I was trying to be difficult. She said she didn't notice. Then she told me I should call the CC company to be sure they added the tip. Ballsy to say the least. SO there I am in the middle of the restaurant calling the cc company to be sure the server got a 20% tip. Embarassing.
We have only been here for business meals, and they have been consistently good. The kumamoto oysters alone make it worth the trip. The fish dishes are fresh, though the bay scallops didn't look as appetizing as expected. The wine list, though not extensive, had some really good choices, including my favorite pinot noir from Willamette Valley, which was random and welcomed. We will go back, everyone raved about the experience.
Go there 2x / yr, and usually very good seafood. However, while it was NOT crowded for a change, service was very slow - had to wait for a second drink a LONG time - waitress seemed over whelmed. Main course was not hot - too cool. Hard to understand as the wait staff and kitchen were hardly over-extended.
You can almost never fault the food at London Lennies. Their fish is superb. Though they have always been pricey, it seems to be more so recently. We had a very nice meal but the service left a lot to be desired. Our server was somewhat disinterested, never had the table cleared when there were lots of used dishes and glasses, never asked if we needed anything and without looking or thanking us she placed the check on the table and walked away.
