The room where we were seated was quite cold. We asked them to turn up the heat so they brought a small space heater that was hardly adequate
My daughter ordered “meatball sliders “. That is exactly how it read on the menu, no accompanying description. When they arrived it was chicken meatballs. Extremely fine ground chicken with mostly breading Very gross
Most people would have expected a classic meatball the way it was listed on the menu
The waiter got very snitty when we asked what kind of meatball it was. Nothing wrong with serving a chicken meatball but we all felt it should have been described as such on the menu. Also the waiter should not have been so rude when my daughter asked about it.
The food was excellent. They had a call out in the kitchen, so things were backed up, but staff helped entertain our kids and all was well.
I have always enjoyed London Grille because of the fun and professional bartenders, staff and the atmosphere. However, this past Wednesday, I took a friend to London Grille - who recently moved into the Fairmount area - because of it's neighborhood feel. I was so disappointed. We sat in the dining area (not the bar) because we had a lot to talk about (which is a great thing about this restaurant). However, I think our server had an attitude from the beginning. We ordered drinks and shared our food (octopus, salad, mussels - all excellent!) - you know how you love to dip your crusty bread into the sauce from the mussels? They didn't give us bread, so we asked our server. We were told that they were out of bread b/c they didn't get their order today and they were saving the bread for sandwich orders!! What? Saving for orders that haven't been submitted yet?? If I was the chef, and didn't get my bread order, I would have purchased bread at the Acme before I would tell anyone that they were out of bread! When we complained, they brought us "one" slice of Italian bread for both of us to share and then later, they toasted English muffins !! which at that point we were finished with our dinner! I know this may sound like a simple thing, but it really threw us off and with no apologies from our server. I will still go to this restaurant, I doubt my friend will, but I will call in advance to see if they got their bread order in!!
I have been to the restaurant over the course of 30 years. Not regularly but a few times unfortunately this last visit was very disappointing. Food was not as ordered. Salad greens were dirty. Service was extremely slow although server was perfectly nice and pleasant. There appeared to be kitchen and staffing issues.
We go frequently for lunch and supper, (not on the same day!), with friends and just family. It's cozy, friendly and friendly service.
A group of 4 of us went on a Sunday night. We went before we took the haunted tour at Eastern State Penitentiary. We got in and out, the food was great and on the cheaper side for city food! Totally would go again.
Our server, Chris M. was wonderful. His knowledge of the dinner and drink menus was really helpful in making decisions. Chris was funny and personable. Steve at the host stand was very nice and easy going. the food was good and the price was very reasonable. The season cocktails were very good.
Appetizers were pretty good. Meals were okay. My pasta had way too many mushrooms in it. My friend got the brick chicken with the mashed potatoes and said it was really good.
They were out of some of the desserts even though they were written on the chalk board.
I would go here again for drinks and apps but probably not for dinner.
Food, food, food!!!! Terrible. 12 different dishes in our large group and pretty bad.
Really a great find. Food delicious and staff super friendly. Good night!
Nice place-- good food and atmosphere and good value. Only problem was no real urgency from server on getting our meals -- almost missed our time at Prison tour even after telling her our time constraint.
We went because we were going to the penatentary. We saw the good reviews and unfortunately have to agree with the bad reviews.
My friend got the chicken with brie and there was no brie. We ordered nachos and mussles to start and only got the mussels 25 to 30 min after ordering them. Never got the nachos.
I ordered a burger with bacon and cheese wirh no bread because i have celiac and can not have it . My friend also ordered a burger and his was done wrong. Wrong toppings. Waitress took mine back and asked if it was an allergy and I said yes. She told me they would make a new one. After she left the table I heard the kitchen and staff makimg fun of me and my food allergy. Yelling "no bread!" Loud enough for everyone in the resturaunt to hear. It's bad enough I have to live with this. That is very embarrassing. Nothing was taken off of our bill despite the mistakes and embarrassment.
I have not been to this restaurant fir maybe 15 years. It used to be very niceGoing back was a huge disappointment. Very limited menu. Food not so great. Service is spotty.
It took an hour for our food to come out and we were consistently lied to by the waiter when we asked what was going on. The food itself was fine (but not worth an hour wait) and the one good thing I can say is our bill was on the house. Seemed like the people next to us had a similar opinion but obviously I can't speak for them.
Tables rock so bad I couldn’t stir my coffee. The coffee was cold. Eggs Benedict yolk solid as a rock.
Meatball sliders were lousy, couldn’t even finish them. Fortunately the waiter took it our bill. However my wife liked the lobster roll.
This was a nice choice for lunch in the Fairmount area. The day we went there, it was very un-crowded, so wonderfully quiet. The food was great: nothing fancy, but they did a great job on familiar favorites like hamburger, fish and chips, and veggie sandwich, (using very good bread, by the way). There is a good drink menu, with plenty of choices, and in general, it was a satisfying lunch. The prices are reasonable. We will be back.
I truly don't like writing bad/mediocre reviews, but this place deserves it. We were there for dinner on a Saturday and the place was empty (bad sign for a city restaurant). The server was nice enough, but he forgot our appetizers, and my burger was one of the worst I've ever had - it tasted like old meat and the fries were mushy and barely warm. Dessert - not-so-tasty chocolate cake, and no vanilla ice cream to accompany it. So much for that birthday dinner.
Food and menu need a serious overhaul. Burger was way over cooked and the spring rolls sucked. Fried pickles were okay. Just okay experience overall. Has potential to do better. Hopefully they can get it together.
Despite the restaurant being super busy after the Bastille Day celebration, the service was excellent and the food was great.
We dined here after the Bastille Day celebration because it was close to Eastern State Penitentiary. Not surprised about how crowded it was but thrilled that we made a reservation through Open Table. Seated immediately. Server immediately asked us for our drink order before we barely had a chance to look at our menus. Didn’t come back for our food order after another server brought us the drinks. Manager finally took our order. Took over 45 minutes to be served our entrees. One of the poached salmon dishes was not cool properly. Sent it back. Size of salmon was small compared to many of the other restaurants we’ve dined at. The food did taste good. Guess we shouldn’t have been surprised by the poor service and long wait for our food as it was a special day with a lots of patrons coming in after the event.
We were welcoming a new friend, a foreign exchange student who'd just arrived from France. I wanted to take him and my son out to dinner as they were just arriving here after a long flight and I thought they would be tired and hungry. I chose the London Grill based on others' reviews, and because I noticed there was a Bastille Day performance at East Penitentiary, a block or so away from the restaurant. The food was delicious; the wait staff were friendly and helpful; the atmosphere was celebratory. We all liked it. He seemed amused by some of the enthusiastic and dramatic entrances by who I assumed were actors from that East Pen performance.
The London Grill is a great venue to meet friends and relax, whether a special occasion or leisurely visit. We celebrated my birthday with a late lunch/early pub-style dinner prior to the Bastille Day cabaret show. We then concluded the evening with scrumptious desert and rose at The London Grill. The vibrant friendly atmosphere of servers and patrons alike truly made my birthday memorable. Thank you.
Great food and service!
Went there for Father’s day 9 of us 5 adults, 4 kids. The staff handle everything well.
Had a great lunch. Very nice staff. Great variety.
Great food, great service. I especially loved the kale salad -- which i did not expect.
We went for lunch after my daughter’s graduation. Our waiter, Bill, was outstanding and made our event and the London Grill meamorable. Probably would have enjoyed the dinner menu over the lunch menu. Nevertheless food was very good.
This was a lovely brunch. Our waitperson was accommodating and attentive. The Shakshura was well spiced with the stewed tomato/vegetable sauce. The chef got the Middle Eastern flavors spot on.
Haven’t been to London Grill in years, but the place has not lost its neighborhood charm. Brick chicken was amazing! Swordfish sandwich was good, but needed salt and seasoning. Bill our server was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely go back!
Restaurant ran out of chicken..????? Waitress didn’t mention this until after we tried ordering dinner. We only stayed to finish our drinks we had already ordered and then left.
We had a delightful Sunday brunch with both local and out of town family. Our waiter, Bill, was so accommodating and warm. We thought we might like to eat outside and he immediately set about moving tables to accommodate our large group. When I realized it might be too sunny, he changed gears and set us up in the sunroom with AC.
The food was delicious and service was great. Our granddaughter at 3.5 years old and her food came quickly. Crayons and a coloring book we’re on the table when we arrived. Our table made it feel as if we had our own room. We’ve been to London several times and it’s always great.
We sat outside when the weather was beautiful. The service was excellent and our party of 5 was well tended to. I would definitely go back!
Server was very nice. Music in the background played hits from 1990’s and 2000’s. My husband had Duck with cherries which he said was prepared “to perfection “. I had salmon, sushi grade, which I had rare. Delicious. We shared octopus appetizer, very tasty and each had a salad. Wine was reasonably priced. Service was very good. Sad to see so few people in restaurant and Bar areas.
The food was terrible. The atmosphere was terrible. The restaurant was dirty.
Love that you have a passover seder menu. Gefilte Fish and Soup and Vegetables were great. The brisket was delicious. Only problem was the salmon. It was not cooked / actually raw. Owner was wonderful and swapped it out so all good. I would definitely go back.
We made a reservation after reading reviews. However, when we arrived we were informed that they only having Passover Seder in the dining room. This wasn’t mentioned when they called to confirm. We should have left but since everyone was hungry we stayed and ate the limited bar menu. Very disappointing.
We went for their Wine Week offerings, which weren't listed anywhere online so we were not sure what we were getting into. They had a decent selection of beers, but the wine list was really sad. Even their specials for wine week were not exciting. The cheeses they offered were amazing, and the daily scone was the best I had ever had. If you live nearby I can see you swinging in to grab a scone and a quick breakfast or something. They have a "Make your own Bloody Mary Bar" on the weekends. It was really cute inside, but not some place I have to go back. Glad I tried it, but not excited to return.
I wish it were a little cleaner. Table and floors were sticky. But overall it was very good food and I would definitely go back.
