London Curry House Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten here on several occasions for dinner and always enjoyed our meal. This was our first foray for lunch. We opted to order off the menu and not to eat from the lunch buffet. Regardless, all of our food was pulled from the lunch buffet. We ordered chicken tikka masala but were served butte chicken. The server denied it, but I well know the difference between the two. Our food was cold and tasteless. The servers were inattentive and disorganized. It will be quite some time beforehand we visit again, and will definitely not come back at lunch.
My wife and I visited the restaurant on the day of New Years Eve for a late lunch early dinner date. We opted for the buffet to get a feel for their offerings. None if the food disappointed. It was all first rate. So we know it's worth going again. What we couldn't judge was the place's true ambience and noise level. I'm sure it is much more energetic and noisy during a normal evening, if for no other reason than the bar at the back of the restaurant. Seems promising but won't know until we've been there on a normal day.
Quiet and not crowded —exactly what is needed for a relaxing meal with friends or date. This is great place to actually talk to people over dinner without having to shout over loud music or 100 other voices. Also, no big TVs to distract you or your date. This allows you to focus on the food and your company.
There is a bar area but the cocktails weren’t very good. It tasted like juice —there was very little liquor in the drink.
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience. I definitely plan to go again.
First time eating at London Curry House. Wait staff seemed disorganized. First waiter took our drink order, my drink came quickly. Another waiter took our appetizer order. No drink for my spouse. A third waiter came for entree order. We asked about spouse’s drink. Third waiter brought drink. Appetizer portion size was huge—could easily have been half or two-thirds portion of what was served. And the appies were ho-hum. Entrees were better, but nothing special. The kicker came at the end of the meal. I asked about dessert. Waiter ran through desserts but recommend one in particular—because, the waiter said—I was expecting a baby!!!!!! I am not pregnant. We won’t be going back. There are way better places for Indian food in the greater WDC area.
Good service. Nice decor and Ambiance. However some of the food was a little disappointing--the vegetable pakora appetizer was excellent and the vegetable biryani main dish was very good. The other main dishes--palak paneer, chicken madras curry, and chicken tikka-- were lacking a little flavor. We came for the Sat night belly dancing show too--but that was also a little disappointing-1 dancer and performance was a little short and repetitive, also seemed like crowd participation was a little forced. Overall, the concepts of this restaurant seem like a unique idea, but need a little work on execution.
The food was outstanding, as usual. However, we were disappointed with the service. Twice one member of our party had to go to front of restaurant to ask for our check. We didn't see server after our meal came. The dining room was very full, and it didn't appear there were enough waiters.
Food was terrific. Very nice atmosphere. The vindaloo was SO spicy and the lamb rogan josh was delicious. Also excellent samosas. The only reason this didn't get 5 stars is because at first, the waitress was a little pushy in taking our order. We had barely sat down when she asked if we were ready. Then came back a minute later to ask again, and we hadn't even picked up the drink menu. However, this a petty complaint, and it seems silly to be complaining about a server who is TOO attentive. She was fine after we placed our drink order, and we had a lovely time. Would recommend London Curry House to anyone who loves Indian cuisine.
The waiter was much more interested in the two flirtatious ladies at the table next to us than he was to our table. Normally, I support pet friendly restaurants, but we were also a little annoyed with pets barking throughout the meal. This is probably a fun restaurant to visit with friends and family, but I do not recommend the ambiance for a romantic meal with a loved one.
Our meal at London Curry House was prompted by a Groupon...but mostly by our love of Indian food. We were not disappointed. The restaurant was pretty, bright and clean. The chandeliers were stunning. The noise level was low enough that we could have a conversation and that is a rarity these days, particularly for dinner on a Saturday. Finally, the food and service was above standard. The staff was friendly and welcoming to us (in spite of our Groupon!) and welcomed us back by providing us with more information about their buffet. The food was delicious and served in pretty large portions -- it seemed everyone in the restaurant was taking their leftovers home. The only downside I could see would be a lack of parking. I'm not sure where non-residents are supposed to park. We got extremely lucky and there was one little spot just outside the restaurant that we grabbed. It was a lovely, classy restaurant and we are looking forward to trying their buffet!
Horrible service! Not sure what was going on but they were super slow. They didn't take our order until my husband flagged them down (at least 15 minutes). We ordered drinks but they never arrived and we waited and waited and waited. They finally dropped off some water & took our food order but never came back. They were not very busy (only about 5 other tables) but the food and drinks never arrived. One of the waiters finally realized (after an hour) that we kept looking over at them and the kitchen so he dropped by and told us we'll get our food in 5 minutes. After 10 minutes, our waitress came by and said another 5 minutes. We waited again but asked if our food was on it's way and they said another "5 minutes". We decided to get up and leave. No one even bothered to solve the issue or apologize etc. We waited for exactly 1 hour and 19 minutes and decided that was way too long. What a waste of a night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Something is definitely wrong with this restaurant. Poor management, staff etc!!!!! Wow....not sure how long this restaurant will last. Good luck!!!!
Great food and overall great service! Had a small delay in part of our order but the server was very apologetic and removed it from our bill, which was much appreciated. Definitely good for a date night, friends night or business dinner. They also appeared to be putting together a lot of take out orders as well. Will definitely go back.
My wife and I were totally shocked that in this day and age with social media, reviews etc. a recommended restaurant such as this would deny us entry. Our daughter purchased a Groupon for us about a month ago and wanted us to celebrate an occasion at this restaurant. So on Valentines day we got to the restaurant on time as per our reservation at 7:45pm. People were thinning out as the prime dinner crowd had been there earlier. There was a sign on the window which said no Groupon because of the holiday. How were we supposed to know? We asked the manager/owner if he would accept our Groupon given the fact we traveled far and made plans for the occasion and had no idea the coupon wasn't accepted on the holiday. He said "no" in a very rude tone. Again, we explained our circumstances that this was the first time we experienced his restaurant and again he said no. We gave him one last chance and told him we would never step foot in his restaurant again and that we would tell all of our friends and let our social media friends (of which we have over 700,000 as we are activists) know of their poor hospitality. Through Yelp, fortunately we found a Chinese restaurant about a half mile away and had the most wonderful evening with the owner who was as generous as the London Curry House was rude.
