Lombardo's Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Food was good but bar service was not. My husband ordered a dirty martini but got a martini with no olive juice and no olives!!! I ordered a glass of wine, which was served several minutes before the quasi-martini (they should have been delivered together). Note that we were already seated at our table so I don't know if the fault was with the bar or with our server. Then I ordered a second glass of wine just before our dinner was served. I didn't get it till I was finished with my dinner...again I don't know if it was the bar or our server.
Our family of three enjoyed our first visit to Lombardo's. It was a busy Friday night between Christmas and New Year's. Our waiter, Adam, was prompt to start the evening, but seemed to become overwhelmed with other patrons. Totally missed bringing our salads, but did comp our desserts. Apps of octopus and calamari were very tasty and cooked properly. Entrees of seafood were all prepared as ordered. The temp of my seafood trio was just warm, but other diners said their entrees were hot. Daughter wanted lobster ravioli which was not on menu, but Adam went to kitchen to check and made it happen for her! Cocktails were very good, although a bit delayed once the meal started. The tiramisu is made in house and was some of the best we have had. All the staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. We will return again when visiting from out of town.
My family and I went to Lombardo’s for Christmas dinner. There were 9 of us. The waitress took forever to bring us bread, our appetizers and entrees. The soup was not hot and neither was the holiday dinner special. No one came to clear the table of our appetizers so we ended up stacking the dishes ourselves. The ambiance was great and the food was good but would have been better if served hot.
Me and my family went to dinner on Christmas eve and it was a disaster, first of all we were not made aware that you had a limited menu that night. We waited after placing are drink order about 20 minutes, are waiter kept coming over to apologize for the long wait saying that the bar was backed up we could see the bar from where we were sitting and there was no one at the bar and the bartender was just standing there several times during are wait. We saw are drinks sitting on the bar for about 10 minutes before we finally got them. Then we waited another 45 minutes for are appetizers. My husband ordered spaghetti and sausage the portion was very poor he received 2 small pieces of sausage and very little spaghetti, if you are charging 16.50 for spaghetti that only cost very little I can buy a pound at the store for less the $1 give your customers what they are paying for. We are locals and we had people from out of town with us that was very disappointed. My husband works in the hospitality industry and he will not be recommending your restaurant to his customers, he is always being asked where a good restaurant is. Are meals were not all served at the same time 3 meals came out and the other 2 had to wait for there meals. If you are working with a limited menu you need to make your customers aware of it when making there reservations. Are waiter kept apologizing for the wait then after we finally got are meals he did not come back to check to make sure everything was alright. As you know there are several nice restaurants that we could have gone to in Myrtle Beach but unfortunately we choose yours. It was Christmas Eve and we walked out aggravated and disappointed not to mention the money we spent.
The best Italian food we have ever had. I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The beef soup was amazing and the salad was refreshing. The table was beautifully set. We had the Fried Calamari for our appetizer. It was very tender and very fresh Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable. Zuppa di Pesce this seafood dish was served with spaghetti and a marinara sauce; other pasta options were available. It was outstanding. My husband had Chicken Marsala sauteed with mushrooms in a sweet marsala wine sauce. It was super tender, lean and quite tasty. Fairly extensive and most reasonably priced wine list. We were there for Christmas Eve dinner and they did an excellent presentation.
It was a return trip to Lombardo's with similar results; consistency is a good thing. Seemingly a good choice on Christmas Eve as there were several tables filled. Glass covered tables with festive tablecloths underneath. Service was prompt and informative. A special Holiday Menu provided limited but a good variety of selections. A fresh baguette was accompanied by a roasted red pepper and oil dipping sauce.
Our selections included the Veal Ossobuco and the Zuppe di pesce (think Fruitti de mar). Each was prefaced with either a Caesar or House Salad, both freshly made and of ample quantity. The House was chopped lettuce, mainly Romaine, carrots, tomatoes, and a choice of Vinaigrette, Ranch, Blue Cheese of Caesar dressing. Nothing out of the ordinary with the Caesar.
The entrees arrived in a timely fashion and were pleasantly plated and quite hot. The seafood dish was served with spaghetti and a soupy marinara sauce; other pasta options were available. It was VERY heavy on the mussels (at least 20, shells included) and small clams and a limited on scallops and shrimp. So many shell fish; the shell bowl provided came nowhere near holding the discards. The sauce, while flavorful, made the dish more of a stew than desired.
The Veal provided a 1" diameter shank cutting about 4 inches long with a good half pound of meat. It was super tender, lean and quite tasty. A small fork was there to enjoy the marrow as well. A healthy portion of Tuscan Risotto, properly al dente, was dressed with green peas and red peppers and was quite good. Could definitely recommend the Veal.
A respectable portion of Tiramisu on a bed of chocolate drizzled whipped cream completed the meal. Nothing distinct about the dessert. Very smooth and light but equally without much substance, the coffee flavoring being scarce.
A positive comment about the fairly extensive and most reasonably priced wine list. Quite a pleasant surprise with several bottle options priced below $30.
We visited Lombardo's last year and really enjoyed the food and ambience. We decided to go back again this year before seeing the Christmas Show at the Alabama Theater. Like last year, we enjoyed the food and had a very nice dinner. The veal Osso Buco special was a little pricey. However it was outstanding.

- The food was fabulous. I'd never had steamed mussels in the sauce used by Lombardo's. Osso bucco fell off the bone. My wife loved her escargot and clams and linguine. Our desserts, tiramisu and chocolate chip cannoli, were the best we've had in quite some time.
- There was live music, which was nice, but at times it was too loud for the room, which was somewhat small.
- While we were dining, large beetle (2" x 3/4") was crawling down the wall. The waiter tried to get him but missed. He appeared again and my wife had to move to the opposite side of the table. It put a damper on an otherwise delightful experience.
Out of escargot, out of lobster salad yet offered lobster tails. Shrimp carbonara was sweet, not pancetta salty. Shrimp were just thrown on top; not cooked in the sauce. One of my coworkers had a hair in her meal. They happily ordered her something else. Waiter was attentive but seemed a little uptight. Lasagna had very little flavor even though it looked beautiful. Drinks were good and the desert s were nice. Entertainment was nice. Probably won’t return.
A VERY PLEASANT DINING EXPERIENCE!
We tried a new place for dinner and were surprised at the quality, which is usually disappointing in the Myrtle Beach area. We started with Grilled octopus, which was perfectly marinated and grilled, mussels were tender and in a unique cream sauce which was excellent. Our entrees were perfectly cooked, I had the Veal Osso Bucco special, (there is a pork osso bucco on the menu). Dennis, our server was above and beyond accommodating and professional, truly an asset to the establishment. It is hard to believe based on our experience that this restaurant has gotten anything but favorable reviews, we will be joining Lombardo's for dinner again in the near future.
Excellent dinners. Seafood special was served over a lobster risotto was was wonderful. Waiter was attentive and if anything a little too friendly however he handled our party of ten with ease. Chicken rollatini was plentiful and very tasteful as were the veal dishes
