L'Olivier Ratings and Reviews
For a Saturday evening, the place was very quiet, yet with our reservation, we we were placed at a table against a back wall and next to a wine cooler, while there were clearly more comfortable options available. Appetizers were great. Main course pork chop was tender and delicious. Rack of lamb, ordered medium rare, was more rare and a little tough. Accompanying fall vegetables were disappointing. Pear tarte tartin was beautifully presented and delicious. We were disappointed that they could not serve a pre-dinner cocktail - only wines.
We absolutely loved this restaurant. The food, the service, the wine were all perfection. I hesitate to give 5 stars for 'value' as it is an expensive restaurant but the food was delicious. Take note, they only serve wine so if you want a mixed drink this is not the place for you. We had the cheese platter to start which was heavy on the blue and light on the brie. I would've loved to see that flip flop. The escargot my husband said was delicious. I had the short ribs and they were tender and amazing. my son ate every bite of his steak as well as the fava beans and potatoes which typically he would never eat. The creme brulee was creamy and vanilla-y and the perfect end to a perfect meal. I had a glass of sparkling rose with my meal and it was a perfect choice.
Our Thanksgiving dinner at Olivier had several "Highs and a few "Lows". We all were pleased with taste and quality of the food, however, the presentation of the entries were below the restaurants standards. Also, the filet mignon were not medium, as ordered, but rather rare. The Table of eight diners next to us had been responsible for the low noise level rating.
We will be back next time for an "Every Day" dining.
We chose L'Olivier for our Thanksgiving celebration. Everything about our experience was top notch. The service was outstanding, with a good balance between attentiveness and lack of intrusiveness. The wine recommendation was very good. The Thanksgiving menu had a nice range of choices, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. When we find ourselves in Santa Fe again, we'll definitely try another meal at L'Olivier.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at L'Olivier and the cozy dinning room was great for conversation. The meal was a three course price fixed menu with three options per course. A special discounted wine list was provided as well as their regular extensive list. We chose the traditional turkey for the main course and it was good. Both the escargot appetizer and the pumpkin brulee desert were excellent. The service was super.
It was amazing food and Service. Zach was outstanding! Escargot appetizer and Butternut Pumpkin Soup were yummy! Branzino was scrumptious, and my husband had the short ribs with potatoes, and Green Bean! Pear Tart Tatin was to die for! It was my birthday, and they treated us royally!!!
From the moment you You walk in, the friendly wait staff immediately begin catering to you. The ambiance is perfect for what you know will be a meal to remember... small and cozy yet not over crowded like many. Chef Xavier mans the kitchen and prepares every meal... French born and raised as well as trained... he really knows how to cook! Think of this as your neighborhood French bistro... nothing crazy extravagant... but good food with great flavor... prepared perfectly! That's very hard to find... especially in the States. This little gem is definitely worth a visit and will be my new "go to" restaurant in Santa Fe from now on.
Dinner at L'Olivier on October 28, 2017 was an exceptionally good experience. The food was delicious, from the escargots to the lemon tart and everything in between. The service was outstanding and unpretentious. I hadn't been there in quite a while and am glad that I chose to have my birthday dinner there. I won't wait another year to return.
As always, L’OLIVIER never disappoints. We eat there every time we come to Santa Fe. It’s our go-to place to have a ...welcoming reception, great appetizers, fabulous dinner entrees and a wine list + wine advice that never leaves us guessing. 5⭐️‘s Marilyn and Bart DePalma
What a wonderful evening. Great selection of wine and entrees. Brought first time visitor to NM for dinner here. We started with a wonderful salad with goat cheese stuffed dates. The venison was some of the best prepared I have ever had. The turbo was perfectly cooked and the lamb rack was also just right. Good wine selection and good service. We will be back.
Enjoyed an amazingly delicious lunch, sharing three dishes with a friend. First an escargot appetizer with baked cherry tomatoes, spinach and Black Forest ham in a garlic butter that we both absolutely loved. Next a baked turbot on a bed of black wild rice with the saffron cream sauce that was a special that day and very delicious. Finally, duck confit with French lentils that was extremely flavorful. Will definitely be back.
We were amazed by the small size of this spot on Galisteo, but it makes no difference. Our server was a lovely, lovely lady with splendid curls. Our escargot was such a treat - totally different from anything we had ever thought about. Elk tenderloin, not elk steak, in a beautiful sauce, could not have been better. This is a great place.
The appetizers-canteloupe soup the escargots were perfect. The main course of sea bass with black was inventive. The owner made a point of visiting all the tables to see that customers were satisfied.
We would be happy to recommend this bistro
Beautifully decorated dining plus the outside court/bar make this a must stop. Innovative menu will ensure a great dining experience. Attentive and knowledgeable staff enhances the experience. When you've had enough New Mexico cuisine, this is the place to enjoy fine food.
