While visiting Santa Fe, we wanted something different than the traditional New Mexican fare and decided to try L' Olivier. There is a sign outside that said Prefix menu on Tuesday and Wednesday and since we were there on Wednesday, we inquired and they said it was only on Thursdays. We had to ask for bread twice and you could tell it was prepared in advance as the slices were dry. We ordered their short ribs and it was tasteless as through it was cooked in water and the beef flavor was drawn out. The gravy was soupy and the short rib itself was fatty. The best thing on the plate was the mashed potatoes. The raspberry honey mousse was not very good either. It tasted like raspberry flavored jello folded into whipped cream and the cake slice was so small the two raspberries on top were falling off as there was not enough room for both raspberries to sit on top of the plate.
We left being disappointed by the evening, Will not go back or recommend.
My wife and I went out for our anniversary. This restaurant was fabulous. The wait staff were exceptional and the food was incredible. I had the scallops and my wife had the elk tenderloin. Amazing! We were both very pleased with our evening. We will definitely be back. If you are in Santa Fe, make sure you stop in.
Service was lackluster. So called foie gras did not resemble any foie gras I’ve had before. Wines by the glass were mediocre at best. Elk tenderloin was poorly prepared, probably just removed from refrigerator before cooking leaving the inside fairly raw.
Just average French food. Not our favorite restaurant while in Santa Fe
Badly Prepared old style cream sauce food. Pastries were inedible. We were very disappointed
Always love going to L'Olivier. Our favorite spot in Santa Fe.
Three of us were very pleased with our choice of entrees but the 4th person found his chicken tarragon to be so salty as to be inedible. Apparently he didn't notice when our waiter came by shortly after we were served and asked how everything was and we didn't realizerealize the problem until the bill was presented. The waiter did take the charge of his entrée off the bill but I wish had made his problem known so that something could have been substituted rather than waiting until we had all finished our meals.
fabulous duck, best meal we had in Santa Fe. Reasonable as well
Thought we should try it this year despite not liking it last year. The escargot was terrible and not at all genuine. The hostess was rude and not welcoming. The manager was nice and sympathetic to our concerns. We’ll never go back to this place.
Wonderful food, lovely waitstaff. Traffic is a bit loud if you sit outside, but the ambiance is charming.
L’Olivier is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere in the world! I never come to Santa Fe without dining here. The food, ambience and service are always fabulous. Our waiter Jeff was delightful and very attentive. I dream of the elk tenderloin when I’m not in Santa Fe. Chef cooks and seasons this entree to perfection. The Oysters Rockefeller is amazing and the Creme Brûlée is the perfect finish. L’Olivier’s wine list is very complimentary of the food something for everyone from the “wine snob” to the casual wine drinker. Please give this little gem a try you won’t be sorry.
Staff were quite miss
French accordion music on the patio far out weighed the occasional loud motorcycle passing by. Oh - and the food is amazing
The fish was delicious and expensive. The portion size was very good.
There was a basket of bread with a meager portion of butter.
The wine portion seemed less than other restaurants.
I may go back for the lunch menu, but not for dinner.
really good food.incredible squash blossoms. elk was great. steak very good.
The noise was the result of it being the first evening of Fiestas. However, the patio was still lovely and the service and food was great! Will definitely return.
We had a wonderful meal, 4 different appetizers, all delicious. The best squash blossoms I have had all season. An excellent rose, too. Special credit goops to our waiter who manages to give us superior service despite the fact that 14 people all arrived 7 pm. He was gracious, worked hard to bring our food in a timely way and made us feel well served. We will be back soon.
Wonderful experience and will definitely go again. The food was interesting and delicious. The wine list easy to navigate with some good values and many excellent choices. Our server was knowledgeable, made good recommendations and just attentive enough to allow for an intimate dinner.
Our escargot was so delicious, as were the short ribs and lamb chops! Our waiter (Anthony) was super attentive and very knowledgeable about wines. Definitely worth a return visit!
Great food and service. Had short ribs (great reduction) and wife had scallops (fish special). Sat outside - little road noise but not bad. Would definitely recommend and come back next time in Santa Fe...
L'Olivier is one of our favorites and has been part of our annual summer Santa Fe visit for the last several years. The food is excellent and a good value. Service is good and the menu selections cover a good cross section of classic dishes with a Santa Fe twist. Good by the glass wine selection. We will be back.
This place is truly a spectacular hidden gem! The elk tenderloin was prepared perfectly, the foie gras on local summer peaches in a wine reduction couldn't have been any better - and OH WAIT the lamb on wilted Swiss chard with mushrooms was outstanding. Chef Xavier and wife Nathalie always make us feel like welcome guests often stopping by each and every seated table. The patio is spectacular and great for people watching both inside and out, LOL. A wine list here that's won many awards because it's so spectacular. Give this a try, you WON'T be disappointed!
This is a superb restaurant. Food was beautifully prepared and presented.
We have passed by this restaurant on several visits to Santa Fe and decided to try it this time. We will definitely make a return visit
This was the first time we ate at L'Olivier and we liked it very much. For a Saturday it was not very busy and we hope this will pick up for you. I would have preferred French chansons as background music but we liked the ambiance. The staff was polite and friendly. We could not have had a better anniversary dinner.
The restaurant didn’t get a 5 star because of the following...
The Ambiance is average the chairs and benches are uncomfortable the table next to us was complaining as well..it needs some music/ energy and staff should be smiling and happy!
The food came out lightning fast (this is not a short order cook estab) there was no time between appetizer and entree to finish a beer.. so I ended up drinking a beer with entree instead of wine (they have the best selection in town) I had 3 sips of beer and bam Entree was delivered.
We are going to go back again and give them another try!
The ambience was lovely but the food was very underwhelming.
This was my first time here and I LOVED it. Zach was just the right amount of attentive - neither oppressively hovering nor wholly unavailable. The food was spectacular - I had the salmon followed by creme brulee. I'm a teacher, so the prices aren't within my everyday budget, but this is definitely my future go-to for celebrations.
Our service was great food was spectacular. Met the owner and will definitely be back. We had the duck and the filet both were cooked to perfect. Poached pear yummm. Wish we were closer. A definite must revisit when we come back to Santa fe
Nice way to celebrate our 50th anniversary; good restaurant and great meal great
This is our absolute favorite restaurant in Santa Fe! It has a lovely ambience, consistently excellent food, attentive service and a welcome table by table by Madam Natalie.
Took forever to meet our waiter, but we were on the patio, where they "don't rush" anyone. It was Saturday evening with an accordion player and perfect temperature, so ambiance was delightful. Once we were allowed to order, the food came quickly and was delicious. We both had the short ribs, which were cooked to perfection, i.e. for 7 hours and the meat was very tender and tasty. The mashed potatoes with cheese and green chile were excellent; the green beans just OK. Wine was good but overpriced. Didn't have any room left for dessert, but they sounded very nice.
Thank you Chef Xavier for yet another delicious meal. The gazpacho, salmon and chocolate mouse cake were outstanding. And the wine selection continues to be excellent.
Lovely setting in the center of the town. Felt like we were miles away from the city hustle & bustle. The tempura squash blossoms were amazing, the Gazpacho soup was the best we have ever had. My squash & corn polenta was rich and decadent. The flavors very much farm fresh! Loved everything about L'Olivier. Wish we lived close enough to visit over and over again!
Live music out on the patio made me feel like I actually was in Paris. Very pleasant all around.
Charming, excellent spot with a great wine selection
Zack, our waiter was wonderful. Food was great. Terrific birthday celebration for me.
Fantastic! Beautiful, delicious food, fun atmosphere, uncomplicated French fare, excellent service. The gazpacho and the salmon entree were amazing. Highly recommend!
Outstanding restaurant. The food was wonderful with a diverse menu. The servers were very attentive but not intrusive.
This is definitely one our favorite restaurants in Santa Fe.
