Lola's Mexican Kitchen - White Plains Ratings and Reviews
Our server was great, but he was the only person working. There were 3 bartenders chatting, literally doing nothing and they couldn't bring us our drinks. I had to walk up to the bar to get our drinks that were already poured. Besides our server the rest of the staff seemed very lazy. Food was ok. Nothing special
I must say we really liked the food. Great upgrades to your regular Mexican food. The chipotle wings were great. Loved the "taco bar" being able to mix and match different types of tacos. My 7 year old has the blue corn calamari for her dinner. It was light and and the sauce was amazing. Now to the service..... Not so good. Waitress took our order and then delivered our drinks it never returned wothout us having to ask someone to get her. Watched her bring some drinks back to the bar from a table who was not satisfied with them. She tasted them and then waited there until new ones were made which wasn't quick. Clearly no interest the tables she was to be attending to.
It was a Wednesday night but only one server acting as hostess and server. Slow service. Food was pretty decent, the churros were really good. White sangria didn't taste fresh, but pre-mixed, even the garnishes were turning brown. I've been there before and the quality was better.
Upon arriving, I was informed that the restaurant was booked for a party of 100 people, "and it is going to get noisy in here, haha!"
I waited at the front desk for 5 minutes and finally asked a waitress if I could speak to a hostess. "There's no hostess tonight, sorry" as she walked away. Maybe the food here is ok, I don't know, because we walked out.
It's very noisy, and is basically a young party place, and definitely not a restaurant to bring a date or a family to, as it's a singles bar. I did have a margarita while waiting, and whenever a bartender puts club soda, sour mix, or water into a margarita, it's a very bad sign, and the margarita sucked. If a Mexican restaurant can't offer an outstanding margarita, don't go.
My overall rating is, it's might be a chain restaurant, not sure and don't care. It's noisy, poorly managed, and the food is probably less than average judging my my drink. If you want rally good Mexican food, don't go there.
We have dined here 5 or 6 times and the food was fine. This time it was not good. A scoop of pulled pork in a flour tortilla, no fresh ingredients, no imagination. Five people dined on enchiladas, tacos, paella, quesadillas, fajitas. There was no spice and sizzle to the fajitas, nor was there any flavor in the tacos. Don't know if the chef changed, but we will definitely not be going back.
There were less than 10 people at Lola's the night we were there. Waiter was also the bartender, bus boy, preparer of take out food and he did a good job considering he did everything but cook our food. The food was nothing exciting and I would not rush back . Of course, I think most people go for the bar scene but we weren't there for that.
Service was excellent. 2 beers on tap were out. Considering there are only 6 or so to choose from this is bad. And they were my top 2 choices. Bartender made good by sending over some free tequila shots though not top shelf. Food was good. I ordered tacos but they were on flour tortillas, would have preferred corn. Overall a nice experience but probably won't rush back
Whenever I'm meeting a friend that lives in Westchester, I always recommend that we go here. The food is consistently excellent.
The salsa and chips brought to the table are amazing. I would buy a jar of this salsa if I could. Everything that I've ordered here has been great. I'm prone to getting the chicken burrito, but the tacos are also good. It's hard for me to order something new when I come here because I dream about the chicken burrito.
I've gotten and margarita and sangria. Both are wonderful. I don't know what the dessert is like, but I assume it's as good as everything else.
If you're coming here after 7, I would definitely recommend setting up a reservation. It fills up quickly.
This place is LOUD. So loud, in fact, that I had to point to what I was ordering on the menu because the waitress couldn't hear me. They have three types of guacamole. I asked for the mango guac but she didn't hear me so we got the regular. They also forgot an ingredient in a salad and... Thought we wouldn't notice? I had a really nice time and the place looks really cool, but I'm not sure it's worth the prices.
Meh. The food was overpriced for the most part. We had the brisket nachos which was the best part of the meal. Then we shared the steak fajitas and for $20 we felt that the 6 small pieces of meat was meager. We each had the shrimp taco which was incredibly spicy- too spicy! There was no indication it would be spicy.
My husband had a mojito which he said was pretty awful and he struggled to drink. I had a glass of red sangria which tasted more like grape juice than sangria.
Service was fine.
Overall, I would not go back.
After making a reservation for dinner, my guest and I arrive at the restaurant and were told the main dining room area was closed off to reservations only (yes, still shaking my head). We were given a high table in the bar area. Typically, I prefer eating in the bar area/high tables parts of restaurants for the energetic atmosphere. But this place did not have that feel. It was also as bright as day in the bar area. After being seated and waiting 10 minutes for a waitress, we place our drink orders. After another 10 minutes, our drinks arrived, completely melted down. It was clear they were sitting up on the bar for 9 of the 10 minutes. We decide to put an app in- ordered the calamari. I've had better tasting and presented food at my college dorm. Serving a dipping sauce in a plastic cup container, seriously? No idea how this place is still in business. Best part of my night was asking for the bill after our two watered down drinks and cafeteria quality calamari.
After we were seated, I noticed a table near us that had not been cleaned after the patrons had left. This table remained uncleaned even after we were finished. They took forever to bring us water. The food was served so quick and also undercooked so it seemed as though they microwaved the food. The meal had no flavor or taste. Taco Bell has better food. Not to mention, the food was way overpriced for what you get.
Had a very nice time in Lolas- Went for birthday , had semi-private room in back which was nice. Food and service were are all great. Would have liked some live music. Fish Tacos, guac, enchiladas all tasty. Nice pitcher of strawberry margaritas. Service very good. Would recommend highly.
Let's just say I'm glad my "mother's day meal" was free. I probably shouldn't have ordered paella, the mussels were very fishy. The place wasn't very busy, but service was horrible. We placed an order for an appetizer, never got it. When the food came, I told the waitress to cancel the appetizer since it never came. She just said "ok", no apologizes nothing. The place is pretty, nice atmosphere, but I don't think I'll try it again. I was very turned off.
The food was great but the music was TOO LOUD. It felt more like a night club then a restaurant. We went on Cinco de Mayo thinking they would have traditional Mexican music but it was LOUD club music the entire time. I recommend Lola's if you want to go out with friends for drinks but not if you want to talk over dinner.
I visited Lola's a few times when they first opened and it always fell short of a great time. I tried it for the third time with my sister in December 2014 and we had a delicious lunch and I remember having an excellent Margarita. I was excited to go back because the margarita was so good. I went with a friend a few days ago (March 2015) and the service was great but my margarita was so bad. It tasted too sweet and watered down (We had a strawberry and mango margarita on the rocks) . We both thought it might grow on us but in hindsight we should have sent it back because it was that poor. Very disappointing. The entrees were good- we both had fajitas and service was good but I don't think I will go back again.
All of the food that we ordered -- including soup, salad, fajitas, tacos -- was barely edible. In fact, the fish tacos were inedible. The chicken in the salad -- actually a big bowl of romaine lettuce -- was dried out. And the chicken tortilla the soup, which was served in a very small bowl, was eight dollars -- at lunch. Are they kidding? We complained, and both the waitress and manager kind of shrugged. Abysmal place.
Everything was great my only problem was i made a resetvation for 2 and called to change it for 3 and they said they were unable to take 3 because they were booked up but when i got there and sat down they had more then enough seats and tables to have been able to take the party of 3 which was one thing that really bothered me. Other then that the food was great and service was satisfactory...
Service was very good, honest, on point recommendations from our waiter. Drinks, a margarita and a mojito were perfect, not too strong or too sweet. They served us hot tortilla chips and good salsa as soon as we sat down. We liked the edamame/jalapeno appetizer, although we would have liked more jalapeno - we will request it next time. Short ribs were good, but a little dry. The skirt steak was super tender and the chimichuri sauce was okay, not the best I've had. It was a quiet night in the restaurant and we were there very early, which suited us just fine. I would go back for drinks and appetizers. I liked the vibe of this place a lot.
