Great service. Very helpful in customizing a meal with a couple substitutions.
The food is always good. Portions are not large, but I'm always satisfied.

They were unable to serve the Idaho trout - an entree that had been talked up by our friends and that we had really been looking forward to. Ran out, they said. Other than that the service was slow and it was near-impossible to get the attention of the waiting staff. I ordered fried cauliflower as a side dish but it never came. The waiter seems to have forgotten. Finally the chicken kebabs were disappointing. They were sumptuously listed on the menu but in reality were barely passing grade. The term “kebab” evokes exotic flavours and delicate aromas. Lola’s version was like a McDonald’s version of a kebab - if that.

Lola is one of our favorite restaurants in Seattle for breakfast for over ten years. We ate there all four mornings we were there during this trip and look forward to our return. Our server confirmed that the breakfast potatoes had recently been changed and wondered if we had noticed the difference. We confirmed that we had and that they were as good as the previous version.

There was a slight wait even though we had a reservation. The tables around us were quite loud especially one where they even brought an extra chair up that blocked the aisle. The service was slow. We had not received water until after we ordered and there is no bread for the table. Our dinners were brought out by someone other than our server. The lamb burger was good but sparsely garnished. The Seafood was overpriced and underwhelming. They forgot the orzo in the dish and since our waitress didn’t check on us for a long time it didn’t get corrected until after we were halfway through. She actually took a clean spoon from the wait station and put it in my meal to see if there was orzo in the dish. I could see it wasn’t there but if you put so little in that you can’t see it without putting a spoon in then you need to revise your recipe. I’ve never had a server actually touch my food in this way. The manager did comp our drinks and gave us a dessert as we mentioned that things were just “ok” but we weren’t in the mood to give a real complaint. The final kicker is that in the bill they charged an automatic 20% tip on the full bill. This was mostly a server error and I would not have tipped. I believe my bill should not reflect a tip and the seafood should have been removed or drastically reduced.

We went to Lola for our Valentine's Day dinner. After talking to our server, we decided to do the Dinner for Two. The pita took a little bit longer to come out than we anticipated (about 45 minutes), but there was so much food we hardly noticed by the end. It was a wonderful experience and we would be happy to return.

The food is consistently of very high quality and it is what we have enjoyed when dining at Lola. Our server was very personable and thorough. We enjoyed talking with her and look forward to another breakfast.
