Lola - Great Neck Ratings and Reviews
Met longtime friends for a catch-up dinner in a neutral location on the Thursday night of Christmas week. I was intrigued by the menu and noted the many positive reviews. I now get to add one of my own. The restaurant has a cozy feel and the waitstaff was excellent. Not rushing us, but being there when we needed them. The menu is eclectic and everything we ordered was delicious. The Charred Spanish Octopus appetizer was amazing as was the Baba Ganoush and the house specialty Malawach. Mains were all chicken dishes and were terrific even for lunch the next day. The tally was a very reasonable $65 per person with a few glasses of wine.
All in all, I am very happy with this find and will definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu.
The food is just delicious and we loved everything we ordered with the exception of one thing. My husband ordered his salmon medium and it was delivered to him overcooked. He let the server know and they took it back and re-made the dish. The next time around it was so undercooked you could call it raw. It was a thick piece of fish, in fact, I'd call it an overly generous serving but the chef was not able to cook it correctly. The owner (?) or manager did not remove it from the bill but he did buy us dessert. My husband is put off but the rest of the dishes were just too good not to return.
Delicious Mediterranean restaurant LOVED the food..Favorite date night place. I ate at Lola's for the first time, this past Saturday evening. The food was excellent. The service was great. My husband and I loved everything we ordered you need to savor the food. Because it was tapas we had the good fortune to try many different dishes, it was all fantastic. The staff was really nice and attentive. You can see the chef and owner took pride in their food choices. It was really great to see chef coming out to each table greet his guests and made sure they were happy with his food and service.. amazing... I look forward to going again. I highly recommend Lola's.
We love the menu and talk about what we'll order on our way to Lola. Tonight, when we arrived, we decided to ask about the specials. Lucky we did. The lobster bisque and combo tuna/salmon poke were delicious!! The salmon entree with pesto was as delicious as ever. What a great meal.
The best restaurant on Long Island. Fabulous, innovative food, great service and hospitality and fantastic owners Michael Ginor and Lenny Messina jr who are also the Chefs.
We had friends drive 2 hours from south jersey, just to eat dinner here for the second time.
Lola's menu is full of inventive healthy options. Their mostly Middle Eastern menu includes creative salads, fish and meats. The servicewas attentive. Noise level was a bit much for serious conversation, bit we would go back. Good restaurants in Great Neck are becoming scarce.
Great meal and service. All dishes were delicious. Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, octopus and salmon were all perfection
Will go w more people next time so we can order more of their delicious food
Always try their specials
The jerusalem artichoke soup was fantastic
Restaurant week at Lola’s was stellar!!!! Meze for Table was delicious and endless.
2 had the chicken (always great)
I was adventurous and tried the duck (it was amazing -like Shepard pie in skillet) and my husband had the fish balls-they were terrific!!!! Oh my then desert-we had one of each and the apple pavlova was superb!!!
Lenny you outdid yourself and Shelby it was great to see you.
Wildly beyond my expectations. Thought it would be a good mediterranean / middle eastern style restaurant, but it was miles ahead. The baba ghanouj was some of the best I've ever had. The cauliflower, which we ordered based on our server's recommendation (otherwise we would've completely ignored it) was phenomenal. The chicken schnitzel was also great. Would strongly recommend this place. Vibe is great for a date night or a meal with friends.
As always, Lola's does not disappoint. Very comfortable and warm atmosphere. The service is outstanding and friendly. Michael Ginor is the most outstanding chef. Every dish we have ever tried here is so mouthwatering. If I had to pick a favorite dish, it would be the foie gras which is so incredibly delicious. It is so hard to choose from all the succulent selections that we get an assortment of small plates and share. We over order so we have leftovers to bring home and enjoy again the next day. The food at Lola's is the best!
Sorry, but this review is sad to leave as Lola had always been a favorite of ours in the area. Although we were seated as I requested in our favorite table, the food was just not up to our liking. Granted it could be because we did not know what exactly how a dish might taste but we were both just disappointed in the appetizer and one entree.
We had the crispy brussel sprouts which would have been ok if they were not swimming in an overly-sweet fish oil/honey sauce of some sort. If the sauce was lightly drizzled on the dish is one thing but to have the sauce everywhere on every brussel sprout and sitting in a puddle of sauce was just too much sweetness which we thought ruined the dish.
We were unable to eat more than a few bits of it and had to send it away (which they took off the bill).
The chicken schnitzel was another miss for me. It just seemed to be overly deep fried and not exactly too tender either. The diners next to us also ordered the dish and seemed to struggle through it too.
Luckily, a special that night was lamb skewers which were tender and tasty over a bed of pilaf. This was an enjoyable dish.
Wow. What a great meal. Thankfully we were four people so we could share a lot of dishes
We had five mezzes. Loved all but the hummus (too heavy). Cauliflower salad so good. Fatouch salad fresh and delicious. Octopus cooked perfectly
Hanger steak and salmon perfect
Blondie for dessert with a candle. Great ending. Very good service
Lola's is such an outstanding restaurant. Everything we have ever ordered here has been excellent. Its hard to order because everything on the menu is a unique food tasting experience. This last visit we tried the tomahawk steak special. It was mouthwatering delicious and cooked to perfection. When we dine here, we actually moan with delight after each mouthful. We like to order a bunch of different plates and share so we can enjoy a bigger selection of these fabulous dishes. What a fantastic talented chef. What a fabulous restaurant.
