Lola - A Michael Symon Restaurant
In the heart of Cleveland's E. 4th St. neighborhood, this "local jewel" features stunning decor and sustainable American cuisine. Highlights include, beef cheek pierogies, impeccably prepared meats and seafood, inventive desserts and an extensive wine list featuring over 400 selections.
Service was lacking. 4 people, no appetizers, entrees and desert took 4 hours in a less than full environment. Steak was acceptable but overpriced for quality of meat. Rest of food was good. Can't make an expresso to save their lives! It was a half cup of coffee and not expresso. Overall, would not go back or recommend to anyone either. Sorry.
Friends were visiting from California so we made reservations to go after an afternoon at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We arrived and were taken to our table. We asked to be switched because of hearing problems of one guest and we were accommodated with grace and ease. Dinner was fabulous as usual and the special touches at the end of the meal were spectacular!
Food and service were outstanding. Would definitely recommend if you are in the Cleveland area
Everything was wonderful!
Great food and atmosphere!
We eat at Lola once a year, during our annual pilgrimage to Cleveland to attend baseball games. The food and service are always excellent. This most recent visit was no exception. Our server was very laid back, and his experience showed, as he guided us through the menu and the wine list. We had a terrific meal - then headed off to see the Indians' game.
Everything was amazing
Food was good and service was fine ( server). Kitchen was slow in getting out food and management never acknowledged that they noticed this or apologized in any way for the inconvenience. We waited a long time for our entrees. We were also seated near a large party , which arrived after we did,at two separate tables, which was very loud and monopolized that entire corner of the restaurant, this was commented on by other tables in the area as well and also never acknowledged by management. They received food before we did even though they arrived after we did, it seemed. Puzzling and unfortunate. Would recommend because of food but, with caution because of above issues. We had wanted to come to Lola for a long time.
I wanted to Love it but I was sadly disappointed. I ordered the beef cheek raviolis and I couldn’t finish it, every bite reminded me of my cats wet food. It wasn’t good. We also ordered the peach and tomato salad to share. It was overpriced at $24.00 and came out looking like something for breakfast with no bread or toast. Speaking of bread our table loaf was Hard as a rock. I won’t be back.
Dinner was great however our server was moderately un-attentive to us and in a place like this I would have expected a little more attention
Wait staff was attentive and excellent. Food was good. Menu selections particularly in the category of salad offerings.
Unbelievable experience ! From service to food.
Our server was excellent and the food was prepared with high quality ingredients as well as technical proficiency.
Some unique and delicious starters...a great dining experience!
Make sure you have enough time. Waited an hour and a half to get 4 dishes on a non busy night
Lola never disappoints. Do yourself a favor and just go there. It's Aces top to bottom.
The food was excellent, the ambiance was nice, service was excellent It was so loud though that my husband and I had to basically yell at each other like we were at a concert.
We could not have been treated any better. The food and service was excellent. It was a great place to send our 40 year anniversary of the first time we met. Thank you to Everyone at Lola’s.
We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
We sat on the patio. Local guy playing guitar was awesome. However it was hard to hear the waiter. Everytime I asked the waiter a question, he was snotty and would say “as I just said”. I finally said to him, you do realize it is hard to hear you with all the background noise. Which was no problem but he didn’t have to be rude or embarrass me in front of the group I was with each and every opportunity he did. It was completely uncalled for. The food was subpar not a place that I would recommend or revisit. Much better options in this same area.
Very good service and food quality. Wish there were more vegetarian options.
We planned a recent trip to Cleveland around visiting Lola. It did not disappoint. The food was outstanding and the cocktail list was very creative. Our server was very attentive. We were pleasantly surprised by the cost of the meal. I expected to pay much more. All in all, an enjoyable evening. Can’t wait to come back.
A perfect road trip place to stop for a high quality dinner.
The beef cheek pierogi and the hanger steak were fantastic, but the star was the scallop and lobster bratwurst. Not only was all the food excellent, the service was top notch. We split the small plates and the entree, and our portions were plated individually. Even with a packed house, the timing of all our courses was perfect and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. Great overall experience.
The menu selection was good for one pescatarian / vegetarian and one meat-eater. Sitting outside enjoying the street scene was a treat on a beautiful evening. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and fast without being intrusive. The meal was excellent. It’s not inexpensive but it’s not overpriced. Everything was delicious.
Lola is truly a dining experience. The wait staff was unfailing pleasant, right there with everything. The food was outstanding and it does not, at all, cost an arm and a leg. Truly a most worthwhile dining experience.
Everything was wonderful from the food to the service!
Dinner was great, our server was very attentive, but we couldn’t help but notice one of the line cooks eating French fries while he was standing at the prep line in plain sight of all. We wanted to order the fries but did not because of this. We never once saw him wash his hands. Overall a good experience, but for a place as expensive as this, that should not be happening in front of restaurant guests.
This is Lonnie, JoAnne’s boyfriend, we drove up from Dayton Ohio to go to your restaurant. Ever since I’ve seen you on Iron chef I’ve always wanted to eat at your place. I was very disappointed you weren’t there, it would of been nice to meet you. My girlfriend had your chocolate mint bourbon drink, I thought it was ok but she thought it was a little weird. I had the aviation because I asked for a dirty martini and they recommended that drink to me, it wasn’t what they cracked it up to be, I would have rather had a really good dirty martini instead. Our waitress was really nice to us and treated us like we belonged there. The filet I had was absolutely the best steak I’ve ever ate in my life and you guys can cook a perfect rare, I give it a 10/10. I would recommend you to any one and I will be back. I’m giving you to JoAnne now to review what she ate.
Hi this is JoAnne! I was so happy to come to your restaurant as my boyfriend had been talking about it for months once I told him I was from the Cleveland area. I ordered the beef cheek pierogi and the ricotta cavatelli. The beef cheek pierogi was absolutely delicious and I wish I would’ve ordered a double serving of just the pierogi. The cavatelli was pretty good too. I tried Lonnie’s steak and it was awesome, so tender. We also loved the bread. All in all we’d definitely come back especially if the menu changed just to try new things. The reservation process was really easy and we only waited a few minutes at the bar where we met some really nice people who talked highly of your restaurant as well.
Hope to see you soon!

We were seated at a table in the back that abuts the service station with no view into the dining room. French press coffee was made right next to my ear and dishes banged constantly in my ear. That table should be eliminated in a fine dining restaurant. We waited 30 minutes for a table. The bartender was great.
Although we said it was a special occasion in the reservation no mention was made by the server.
Great dining always.
We had a great time at Lola as each dish was prepared with care and quite tasty.
My husband and I had drinks and several small plates as dinner at Lola. The atmosphere was classy and busy. They had bartop seating around the open kitchen (maybe 8 to 10 seats) which would be a great location to see it all happen.
Our table had bench seating along the wall which is not bolted to the wall so it kept sliding with the folks at the tables next to us. An annoying feature so I'd suggest staying away from that bench seating.
Surprisingly affordable for innovative food and a great vibe.
Not a huge number of entrees offered so check out the menu.
From start to finish the experience was amazing. The food was exquisite. We will definitely recommend Lola to our family and friends.
everything we ate was absolutely delicious. What a treat!
Our meal didn't disappoint! We had the crispy bone marrow, beef cheek pierogies, the duck and fois gras meatloaf and the smoked prime rib. Desserts were Dad's favorite lemon cake and the Lola S'mores. Awesome!!
Sadly this is the very first time we have given this place anything but 5 stars across the board, recent changes to the menu were not to our liking. The salmon dish is gone, creative soup of the day is gone, the smoked pork chop now comes with spaetzels instead of the cheesy polenta. All of these were major reasons why we LOVED this place. Not to fear we will be back but celebrating a birthday and being less than excited about the dinner was disappointing.
Our experience at Lola’s was excellent The food and service was also excellent!! I had the Hanger Steak and it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the Scallops and he said that they melted in his mouth. I highly recommend Lola’s to anyone looking for a great dining experience!!
Best driving experience I've had in such a long time. The hostess was upbeat, positive, funny and most of all welcoming. Our server was top notch. The food was absolutely out of this world DELICIOUS. Also, the menu had something for everyone with a good price point. I would highly recommend Lola's!
