Lola - A Michael Symon Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
All four of us had the special menu (beef cheek ravioli, salad, hanger steak with wonderful sauce, Lola fries, poached pear with blue cheese ice cream), with the nicely selected wine pairings. That certainly would have been a great meal, but we preceded the feast with the charcuterie—-which made it a REALLY great feast. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
Wife and I took a weekend away from kids and pets, stayed next door to 4th st (restaurant alley). We had the restaurant week menu with wine pairing. The beef cheek pierogi was decent, wife had the carrot cavatelli and it was extremely good, I had the cruciferous salad, also really good. We both had the hanger and the flourless chocolate cake. If I were forced to complain I would point out that I did not get a single pickled onion on my steak while my wife got plenty... she let me try hers and it's really not a complaint. Overall the food was great, wait staff perfect and you cant beat the price. We have been hitting the down town's of NE cities for awhile now, usually seeing some sites and having a tasting menu somewhere. Lola is right up their with the best of them and restaurant week better than halved the price.
Went to Lola with my husband for Valentine's Day. It was amazing!!! I am a notoriously picky eater and I ate every single thing. We got the beef cheek pierogies, rib-eye, and another steak (can't remember the name). Perfection! The sears on the steak were perfect, they were cooked exactly to our specifications (medium and medium-well) and the food came out super fast. The service was also on point. When my husband asked our waiter to recommend a wine he asked what he was going to order for a better taste pairing. The crowd was, of course, other couples as it was Valentine's day but still a great crowd. Varied ages and backgrounds. We have a new favorite restaurant and we have lived in L.A. and New York and Lola is the top dog for sure.
Wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner—delicious, romantic and relaxing. Staff was extremely accommodating in finding a way to adjust our reservation arrival time after we called when we were stuck in a horrid traffic jam behind an accident on the highway. We did not miss out on a romantic and delicious dinner because of Lola’s wonderful staff. It was a wonderful evening. Thank-you!
Glad i came to try it, but it was nothing amazing and not a staple in our go-tos. I guess being a Michael Simon restaurant I had higher expectations.. First, the salad is not your typical salad. More like a shaved broccoli salad. Wasn't a huge fan of that taste wise, but part of dining here is the experience so I ate some of it. It wasn't bad, but i wouldn't order it again. My fiance didn't even finish his first bite lol but my palate is a bit more sophisticated than his. My scallops were good! I enjoyed them. But again, nothing spectacular in comparison to anywhere else with scallops on the menu. My favorite part of the entire meal was the brussel sprouts! Those were so good. My boyfriends steak was good.
My wifes steak and my duck were SO salty that we could not even eat them. The young man who was bussing our table was the only one who was really paying attention to us. He was the one that caught on that we were not pleased with our meal. The manager came by for a second to tell us that she wanted our feedback. It is a shame what is happening to the dining scene. The good old days the real celebrities were the people actually cooking in the kitchen.
Let just start out that its a Michael Symon restaurant. Unique cuisine that is his signature. If you can, make a reservation to sit at the tasting table and watch the magic of culinary cuisine take shape. Poetry (or chaos) in motion. I had the scallops that were great. Cauliflower au gratin...yum. Tiffany was our server and she was truly a professional. To me, great service is just as import as great food
We had 9 people and we were told the largest party they would do is 8. We had to leave one of our couples out do to this. Everyone when we arrived were awesome and made us feel at home.
Our Waitress was amazing and made sure we were taken care of. The food was very good, a little expensive for the portions. The restaurant was a little warm. I would go again just to enjoy the creativity of the chefs.
got scallops lola fries wife got pork chop. i think i embalmed myself with the amount of salt on the fries. best thing about scallops was pear onions. scallops were eh. Pork chop was perfectly cooked and very good accompiments. Great service with water which was needed. Glass never got less than a 1/3 full. I got the potatoe soup to try and reverse the salt from fries. soup was bland but i didnt dare put salt in it. salt and pepper were nowhere to be found. had a few balls of potatoe and topped with truffles. I would skip next time...well wont be a next time. TOO EXPENSIVE and small portion that was eh at best. I didnt feel good and we went back to hotel after cavs game and missed going across street for smoked wings. Skip fries or order no salt and put on yourself. Service was outstanding up front and at the table.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at the restaurant celebrating our Anniversary. It was the location of our first date so it means a lot to come back on our Anniversary! The staff prepared a wonderful decorated plate for us with two amazing red velvet cup cakes. Thank you for making a special evening memorable.
Fabulous meal as always. And the nightcap at the bar, which the bartender recommended was so good I'm searching for the Watershed Nocino at the liquor stores.
The table next to us was beyond loud. We couldn't even hear each other. Pharmaceutical group who appeared to have an account with you as we never saw them pay a bill. But they should have been told to quiet down. They were beyond obnoxious.
Awesome scene downtown. Menu and decor are top notch. I felt the service was kind of slow for our larger party of 10 people. Only one server assigned to us. Also the food wasn’t executed great. Some cold appetizers. Overall, I’ve been to this restaurant before and have had excellent experiences. This time was hopefully a fluke.
Every course was fantastic. Highlights were the Fish and Chips and Beef Cheek Pierogi starters , Mulard Duck, and Sticky Toffee Pudding. Would recommend to anyone for any occasion worth celebrating, or for a fun night out.
Special Honorable Mention to the Sturgeon and Hanger Steak, as well as the 6am Special.
